  • I had the pleasure of talking to Dr Louise Oliver ( / @drlouiseolivertlc ) about the importance of how we breath to the quality of our daily life and sleep.
Around 60% of women will develop breathing disordered sleeping as they go through perimenopause and beyond, with noisy breathing, snoring and sleep apnoea on this continuum. Mouth breathing can be the culprit as well as the position of your tongue, over breathing and a lower tolerance to Carbon Dioxide in our blood.
In this video we explore all things breathing related, including some tips on how to improve your breathing. It turns out we need to exercise our tongue and breathing muscles in the same way need to exercise the rest of our body as we lose muscle tone here too. We also found out that the tongue is the first place to gain weight!
