For as long as we can remember the Corolla has been forgettable. Of course, that abstract truth hasn't stopped Toyota from selling millions of them over the model's long life. Still, we'd argue it's more a testament to their ability to build a reliable car at a low price and take care of their customers better than just about anyone than some burning desire American's have to make 60 monthly payments on a new beige Corolla. However, for 2014 Toyota is looking to inject a bit of desire into the Corolla lineup with trims like the sporty S we recently had in the AT Garage. Did we like what we found? You'll have to find the play button to find out.

Reviewers are forgetting the most important thing that people look for in a car. "Reliability"

Seems like from the start of the review there was a negative bias to the car. Poor review and wished I could get my 5 minutes back.

I bought my first brand new vehicle and this was what I chose. I'm a college student so I don't really have a lot of socioeconomic status as this auto reviewer might put it, however, this has been the best car I have ever owned. The fuel mileage is incredible. on a $20 bill I can drive well over 400 miles on a highway trip. The sport mode is really fun to use as well. For having such a small engine this car can move. I have never had any issues passing anyone on the highway. The CVT can have an almost rubber band feel too it in certain situations, but it has never been enough to compromise my needs. I love the car and for someone like me it is luxury right now. my last two cars were also Toyota brand. I had a 1997 Toyota Camry and a 2000 4runner which was my favorite. So my corolla is a major step up. I would make this a top list car for anyone who wants to have some cool features and also great economy.

Im here, years later, and yea this guy sucks. I just bought this car used 27k miles. I'm familiar with Toyota I've had one in the past and its my moms top choice. I've also owned a Mazda and Ford. The reliability alone makes this car better. Definitely better than a Ford and if you think the Mazda is better...nope, in my opinion. This car is a great economy sports car and drives like one! It's reliable, features are the first of its kind for Toyota, and the premium is fully loaded with upgraded features! not to mention the gas mileage IS great, speakers are great, all the upgraded technology and easy to use features, great handling no matter what the weather is, low cost maintenance (which blows the other 2 cars away)

This is a great car. I don't know why you even made a review everything you say about it is negative and not a fan of mazda.

Reviewers are so inconsistent. Every other review I've seen said that the premium speaker system is fantastic, and one of the best they've heard in the entire class.

This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Here in Texas I rarely see any Mazdas but see many Corollas from different generations. I own a 2016 Corollas S Premium with Navigation, sunroof, paddle shifters etc with over 50,000 miles and no problems. Toyota is a bigger company than Mazda.

Mazda's suck. They don't have anywhere close to the value of a Toyota.

+AutomotiveTrends True, Toyota needs to be beef up the Corolla's engine and make it more "sportier".

For my money, I would go with the Mazda3 with the 2.5 Skyactive. Toyota has lost its edge and can only sell their cars to loyal older crowd, new uninformed customers and or with heavy discounts.

That's funny, I see many older people driving Mazdas.
