It's mostly us Americans who like to always rest and keep our hand on the stick. Most of us don't have formal schooling on how to drive manual cars, unlike Europe and Asia drivers where keeping your hand on the gear selector will automatically fail you on your driving test. It puts minimal wear on your shift slider, but doing it continuously over time can put premature tear and wear on your transmission.
Sadeth Cheng , I would assume that drivers taking the road test using a standard are require to keep their hands on 10 and 2? Meaning that the hand should be off the shifter?
Taking driving test in america with stick? Fron what ive hear they only allow autos with e brake in middle but since corona you have to rent one to use anyways
I personally did not like the Mazda 3. I really hated the gearbox and clutch. It was not nearly as much fun to drive as I hoped. The gearbox and clutch on my 2015 Yaris feels lighter and more precise.
You took this to a poorly maintained road? Seems like every road you were on was poorly maintained. Mount the camera somewhere else so we can see the vehicle's responsiveness and not just hear you and watch the bumps.
+MADdaDJ hey I'm thinking of getting one, test drove one yesterday. how long have you had yours for and is there any major issues you have with the transmission?
You grinded the transmission at 3:08 .. make sure you step on the clutch properly before you shift gear or you will be destroying the transmission. Honda cars are nice as well as toyota cars. Its really up to the buyer. 6 speed is the best .
And he just FORCED it on in there too!!! Usually if I grind, I'll back off, reactuate the clutch and do it right.. Not this guy!!! Guess that's why autos always sell better than manuals, harder to screw up.
yes I like it . the fact that is eco. for the environment. and drives very well. I like the exterior desing awsome sports look . I drove it and will get it .
I had a 2005 Corolla LE with a 5 speed manual. The synchronizers in the transmission started to go bad @ 65000 miles. Started getting really bad at 84000. What I didn't know is that it was a common problem with Toyota's manual's. A little over $1000 dollars to fix the synchros. I don't trust Toyota's manual transmissions. That being said I really liked my Corolla and was very disappointed that such a problem was so common.
John Hiram Manual Transmissions? It is a common problem with them. I know mechanics that work at a Toyota dealership, they are the ones who told me it was common. I also have a friend that had an 06 with a manual, Third gear went out when the car was 3 years old. Toyotas manuals are junk. If you are going to buy a Toyota get the automatic.
1. A "Honda Man" test driving a Toyota. Of course he's going to trash the Corolla, he's a Honda Man. 2. Most of the top trim Honda Civics (Corolla's competitor) is higher in price than the top trim Corolla. 3. The top trim Honda's don't have 6-speed manuals like Corolla :P 4. To me, the Honda interiors are really nice, but the exterior doesn't look as aesthetically pleasing as the Corolla. 5. I'm not fond of the style of Honda's climate control panel. I like Corolla's better. Corolla's has a more digital appearance. Alright Honda lovers, you can start hitting the thumbs down button
In some of this I agree, but both cars don't have nothing on a Mazda. Mazdas Quality is worlds better, as well as the driving experience. Mazdas are just fun.
Had a guy pull up to me to ask if I tagged my car with Toyota badges. I laughed and said, no it's def a Toyota. I definitely got it because of how it looks. It's looks good and drives well. It's not a powerhouse but it's quite and a comfortable ride. My only complaint is the instrument panel. Wish I could just have a a Toyota logo instead of anything it offers but I can live with it.

I want to buy a 6 speed manual transmission car within 1.8 liter engine. Can anyone suggest which should i buy for cheapest price and highest gas mileage?
shopnoraj Either this Toyota Corolla in this video (best reliability, durability and longevity on the planet), or the Mazda 3, which comes close to the Corolla in terms of reliability. Mazda is noisier, and has a harsher ride, but is more sporty and fun-to-drive than the Corolla. STAY AWAY FROM HONDA PRODUCTS LIKE THE PLAGUE. They are selling their cars on perceived reliability which is NO LONGER TRUE. Todays Hondas are mediocre-reliability pieces of shit. Honda has sold its soul to the DEVIL for the sake of GREED, thinking that no one will catch on. It takes years to earn a reputation for reliability. But that reputation can be lost quickly when more and more people catch on to the scam they are perpetrating. Transmission issues, power steering issues, electrical gremlins and the list goes on and on .... I know several colleagues who own 2014 and 2015 Acura MDXs and they are having a tremendous number of issues. My 2003 MDX was a lemon. The sunroof leaked and the dealership could not figure out what was going on. Eventually they tried fixing it with a "home made fix" by trying to stuff some foam in between panels. Wow! So that's how they design a $50,000 vehicle. The power steering would "freeze" randomly to the point where it was dangerous to drive! Luckily I got rid of that car that I had bought (incidentally for its supposed RELIABILITY **rollseyes**). Ever since that time, my 2000 Lexus LS 400 has had exactly ZERO issues. Nothing, nada, zip, zilch!! ...and I did not even buy it new, and it has 150K+ miles on it and still going strong, drives like a new car with not a rattle or squeak in sight!!
vicarouza ok, Honda/Acura have few cars that do not live up to expectation... You're also forgetting the reliability aspect. Reliability means it still works in general, not a leaking sun roof. The first gen fit falls into the Honda-Senioritis generation, but since then they have picked up on all their main brand products, as for Acura, I have no clue. But as a 2015 Civic Si owner, and my parents both own an LX civic and LX accord, we are all happy with our cars as we have had no issue, gotten great gas mileage, and love our cars to death..
on cruise at 60 mph or 98Km/H what fuel economy do you get ? Im looking for a good reliable car (that lasts at least 7 years+ with little maintenance) whats a 6mt and gets great fuel economy Believe it or not, my 2002 Maxima 6mt (3.5 v6) does 5.9L/100km 6.1 approx or 48mpg on highway on cruise at 100km/H , 260hp, super reliable so far(I beat the hell out of it and its still running strong at 210000KMs) incredible on gas.... so far nothing interests me on the market.... that comes close to this, I tried the G37 6mt, but the gear ratio is higher and at 100KM/H it does well over 8.8L/100km 32mpg
Cars are meant to right themselves as soon as you let go of the wheel (yes, they should go straight) if yours doesn’t, you should see a front end mechanic immediately and have them diagnose the problem. Neither the Civic or Corolla drive aggressive. They are just mid size sedans. This video wasn’t very helpful.
I agree with you about the engine as well as the interior. The Corolla's interior panel looks way too crowded and busy. The civic is just right and not overwhelming

In my experience, modern manual transmissions are significantly worse than older manuals -- especially in Toyotas. The shifters feel clunky and indirect, the throws are a mile long, the clutch pedal feels very light and vague... the whole driving experience feels more like a chore than it is enjoyable. And we in the US wonder why the manual transmission is dying off...
Honda fanboy shitting on a Corolla. Anyway, two things that are completely incompatible. Driving a Toyota Corolla while shifting like a Honda driver. Overall, great video.
I think this guy is better off driving an automatic. Resting hand on the gear selector, grinding gears... In a previous video, he did not rev match while downshifting. It's terrible.
Please don't ever drive another stick shift vehicle. You are so oblivious to the fact that your driving is horrible as well and it makes me sick inside. You grind gears, shift to early, and throwing it into first at 25-30 mph is absolutely not recommended in any vehicle. Please stop ruining cars that people are eventually going to buy. I personally feel bad for whoever bought that car and for anyone who bought any other car that you trashed at that dealership. Could I please get the dealership name and location so I can make sure to never buy a car that you have driven? Thanks. You are so bad at driving and the way you smile in the rear view mirror upsets me. Please don't do that either if you can help it.
I test drove blue automatic and red manual corolla today. To me the automatic transmission makes more sense with this type of vehicle. This is coming from someone that has driven a manual for most of his driving history. I would have been very tempted to get one today if it weren't for the pushy finance guy.
The CVT pairs well very on the new Corolla. This engine is no screamer but does have adequate power. With the CVT, the engine is always at the proper powerband instantly to deliver the right amount of power with no drama. Very useful in day to day driving and far improved over traditional autos. I don't know why anyone would want to bother with a manual on a clearly non-performance vehicle.
Suspension really soft, a lot of body roll. Really slow in acceleration, navigation system is useless after 2015, cruise control gets in the way when making sharp turns, 6 speed shifts very smooth but it is hard to go into reverse sometimes, touch screen is garbage, brakes are soft. That are all the cons I have with mine. lol. Then the Civics, seats are hard, slow acceleration, plastics scratch easily, touch screen needs to be remade, body panels could have better quality(i.e they were coming off after 3 weeks). Steering wheel was weird, brakes were soft. Handling was a little better than the Corolla.
***** in looks... i guess so , to me thou the new civic looks like a pruis, I actually have one here i can film to show you lol, and the inside is similar to the pruis, plus it just doesnt ride that good. But the corolla.... man i love the corolla lol
Jay Smart i have mixed emotions about the civic and the corolla. I have a 2013 corolla s special ed but whe i saw the civic si i kinda wished i got that.... but i like my car still....

I made the terrible mistake and leased this vehicle. While the fit and finish was nice for a entry level vehicle, the cvt is fuckin terrible!! The car can't get out of its own way and the low profile tires make highway driving suck!!
He's "blind" to the features because its a regular Corolla thats falsely advertised as sporty. They can call it sporty when it has at least 160 hp, 132 is weak. My Saturn Ion could smoke this car lololl :'D
Your Saturn is a piece of shit compare to a Toyota Corolla. I could destroy your piece of shit with this new corolla. Saturn would never ever compete with sport cars..!!
Why in gods name are you disengaging the clutch for such long periods between shifts? I will just assume you're taking it easy on the car, but that is bad form, lol.
No wonder ypu cant get a solid car from the dealership. Damn sellers have to much fun with them and Dude you seriously need to get your hand off the shifter
Driving on a crappy road…..whining about road noise while practically ham fisting the gears. If he drove my car like this, I would slap him upside the head. 😵
3:10 Dude, did you really grind the gears of a Corolla? Girl, no. Also, please try a different editing style. The fade in/out with your voice over your voice is just awful.
How are you going to compare a corolla to an SI or an accord. They're not even in the same segment. It's like comparing Lexus to Honda which obviously lexus is a million times better than honda. It also doesn't matter what you say because at the end of the day Toyota will ALWAYS outsell honda.
Great new car! The Best Toyota Corolla I've Driven for the past 30 years.

Keep your Hondas, I want that Corolla now!
Wow! Very nice car. Definitely better than Honda.
I love my 2014 Corolla S, the only other car that I would probably choose over it would be the new Mazda 3 sedan.
Agree. Same for me. My 1st choice is Mazda3, 2nd is Corolla S.

6 speed corolla !!!!! So dope we need more reviews of this model. Bring back the high revving XRS and put this 6 speed in there
Not going to happen. The good old days of the XRS and Celica are way behind us. Toyota wont risk killing sales over the Scion.
i LOVE THIS CAR!!! im going to look at one tomorrow!!! 6 speed :)!
i got it btw :) its awesome!! if anyone wants to know.

ouch
that hurt my ears

Gear grind @ 3:08 lol
Bad stick driver.
3:35 the screen shows the boot up process... he fucking stalled it as well as grinding the gears earlier in the video...
3:10... did you grind those gears? Yes, yes he did.

So S + means a manual transmission? Wow I'm blown away.. lol

Believe it or not, my 2002 Maxima 6mt (3.5 v6) does 5.9L/100km 6.1 approx or 48mpg on highway on cruise at 100km/H , 260hp, super reliable so far(I beat the hell out of it and its still running strong at 210000KMs) incredible on gas....

what about horsepower and a shot of the engine

You are 100% a Honda “Man” 🤣

how does the gears work.
Nice try to do with honda accord 2014
Honda man in a toyota, that car is awesome you aint!
This isn't a comparison vid stop comparing
Can't find it, grind it!
This must have been made for the 85% of the slow drivers out there.
i think i rather have this than the civic. its DOHC !! lol
Honda Civic (Non-Si) engines are SOHC, Si models are DOHC
koukimonzta And you won't have to replace the automatic transmission when it breaks down after 50,000 miles, like my cousin had to on his Accord.
why would you want this car to be quite?

The ride height looks terrible. That gap could fit boots.
Mines is the same thing but it's automatic
to any first time drivers of this car the clutch feels odd
hey buddy i just got a Corolla S plus 6 speed stick shift
i bought yesterday i feel the clutch to soft like, not cut right in time... so when i press the clutch and then taking out is to soft i have to press acelerator pedal for the car go back or forward
so let me know if your clutch
feel the same
I work at toyota and the trick really is to start at 1500 rpm when going slowly off the clutch.
so the clutch at the Corolla S 2014 is to soft?
Needs a turbo.
Still doesn't sound as good as a Honda VTEC motor.
I agree! hey, theyre trying.. haha
Edward Tomilloso i sit nice to drive?
nice video!
TIMP1198 Toyota is usually quieter than honda and also less accelerate than the latter.

well i have that corola but im goin to say the the top speed is actuoly 115 them a the sensor kicks in and is f anoing -.-
Honda man reviewing a Toyota, a little biased perhaps?? hmm
You're an idiot by the way..
I don't even think my Saturn is cool, or fast... but I know for a FACT that its faster than a corolla lolol quit cryin fanboy
Ben Freda Either way four cylinders are slow piss pots and not made for speed
BranMac97 lancer evolution is a 4.....
Gearbox oil Toyota Corolla
why would you ever compare a corolla to an SI? SI has way more horses than the corolla.
Lmfao you cute lil honda drivers.... I drive a lancer but this corolla is dope as hell, I'd never be caught driving a honda civic.
Evos are AWD. And Evos will wax any Subaru. :)

Sounds.......ehhhhhhh. The R18 sounds way better.
U are not supposed to keep you hand on the stick all the damn time like that. It will mess up your car
I thought you had to drive at a much higher RPM to use fifth or sixth speed.
غبي من شفتك تقومها بالثالث في التقاطع وانا غاسل يدي ☹️ وقاعد تركز على اشياء غبية
Stupid in all thing in test and review
I think it looks very cheap, old style dashboard etc, honda is generally better.
HA is that why Honda had to run back to the drawing board with the civic?
Stop talking about materials. Hardly anyone gives two shits.
good news for toyota to stay away from toyota
This is Toyota's bread and butter car so it's very homogenized and boring.
Your no expert in cars ..young buck...lol...go make your commission...your advice not needed
damn grinding the gears already (3:10)
he kinda pushed too far right?
Yeah, if you don't know how to drive, that can happen.
@@phillycheesetake or if ur seat isnt adjusted right lol
Right 😂
I felt that😢😂
