I marched in the hornline this year and didn't even realize half of the nuance here until now, 12 years later. Wonderful writing, Jim!
I was going into my junior year in high school this summer. I watch this show a lot when we got the VHS. As a grown man now it's really interesting to hear all the different parts that I never noticed until now as well.
Jim!!! Happy 20th anniversary of 03. At finals with Brandon (cymbal section leader) this weekend. Nostalgia and Memories…cheers!!!
Beautiful writing Jim! You cover such a wide dynamic range throughout and SO MUCH finesse and nuance.
More, please...
This is one of the best arrangement I have ever heard, and you have inspired me to try to make my own. Thank you sir
Killin it as always Jim, love SCV. Colts '94 Snare line age out here
That full battery roll at 1:12 completely forgot those were Quintuplet rolls, I always dug your arrangements because you write the entire percussion score from full ensemble to battery.
Bravo Jim Casella! i am at awe with this arragment,i am violin player and Polish, have performed that piece several times and love it, would love to see video recording of the actual band show,I feel choreography was a special thing too

Loved hearing this score 1,000s of times 10 years ago. Can't believe it's been that long.
Thank you for sharing! Love the arrangement and very cool to see the beats!
One of my fav books of all time. Love your stuff!
Loved this show.
I listened to this.
Cool! I forgot for a minute that "dreads" are a type of playing implement, and thought it was weird that he specifically wanted a guy with dreads to play that part. Then I saw "puffies" and remembered.
So genius !
I'd have to say it's the real deal!
Very beautiful. Why can't everybody have it? You were born with it homes.
Hey Jim. I've always been a HUGE fan of your arranging and I was wondering if you had any advice for somebody trying to get into marching percussion arranging?
Is this the actual recording or just VDL? Either way this is awesome!!!! Thanks for uploading.
Being released for sale or is this a hint at a new book? Heck I would buy it just to study phrasing ideas and this also reminds me, I need to find Cirone's other books (besides Portraits In Rhythm).
Pretty sure some of the sampling was done with some of the guys on that line, though, no?
The zooming in and out is kind of annoying as you can't follow one line the entire time.
ramrod? :)
