I would absolutely LOVE to see the score for the rest of 1999. This is my all time favorite drum corp show. Thanks Jim!
1999 was the only year I was able to do drum corps; I was with the Seattle Cascades, and we spent most of our tour shadowing SCV all over the country. Hearing this show every night - and how it developed week after week - all the way to Finals was one of the greatest joys of my life. This book is incredible, that year's corps was amazing and versatile and resilient (dealing with the loss of Art, and Ray's recovery, right before the tour kicked off)...you guys amazed me in how you carried yourselves and set the standard. This show is one of the best shows that's ever been put on 100 yards of grass...and I can't thank you enough for your contribution to my life's soundtrack, Jim.
My favorite percussion book from my favorite show, hands down. Thank you!!!
Very much enjoyed this show. Lucky enough to see it in Meadowlands, NJ that year.
I'm learning so much on how to properly write for percussion here!
Legendary show! Changed my life and started my DCI career in 2001.
Mr. Casella, you are an absolute legend in my book. You’re writing never ceases to amaze me, thank you for sharing your work!
That sonic landscape at letter E is unlike anything that had ever been played before. Just fantastic. Thanks for posting.
Thank you Jim! '99 SCV was truly an amazing show and that book is just beautifly written.
Such a great book, best drum staff ever and the members/performers were so mean dude. They could play! I remember seeing SVC on the field for the first time in 1999 I was marching cadets they went on just before us it was intense!
First live show I ever saw. First bars I ever heard. More please!!!!
Thank you for sharing your talent with all the different scores you have put on this channel. During my musical journey throughout my life and countless scored studies from Bach to the present in many genre one thing has been missing. We study the “greats” but we can only assume what they were thinking and/or intent of what they achieved. It would help me and hopefully many others if you took us through or broke done your thought process and/or intent for the score. It might also be helpful if we, as we study the score to be able to ask questions. I totally understand that this is a monumental and even outrageously time consuming task! Thank you for your generosity in posting all the scores you have and continue to post!!!
My high school drum director played snare this year. My man Ted Wheeler. Taught me so much and a huge inspiration. Thx
This is beyond words good Jim......
Thanks for sharing this Jim, especially during these times.... this is a show that's continuing to inspire again and again!
THANK YOU JIM! I FREAKING LOVE THIS SCORE!
The. Best. Percussion writing!
