I built my sim racer almost completely free. I found someone listing a free car seat in my area for porch pickup. When i arrived the gentleman came out and asked what ill use the seat for. When i told him im building my 1st sim racer, he went back in and grabbed his old Logitech race wheel and said him and his son don't play it anymore. And since i do home remodeling i often take home scrap pieces of wood, so i had a good amount of 2x6s to use. Screws were free from unused screw packs the installers dont use at work too. Cost me $12 to paint it and about 4 hours of my time.
Good stuff dude! I've been building my own sim rigs out of wood for over 10 years, finally got a welder last year and now I have built a rig frame that quick swaps multiple sims to the same seat with lots of adjustment... & basically for free/ very low cost. Best thing about building your own is it's Taylor made to fit you! Keep it up!
For low budget wheels, I would recommend meeting at the guy place to have a quick demo to make sure it works as described. Especially Logitech can have worn gears that will be immediately visible if you test but that you won't see otherwise
I bought mine for about 10$, it has force feedback, 270°, table clamp, 10 buttons and no dead zone (that was most shoking). Pedals broke after half a year though, had to spent 5$ more to repair. And yet the wire for pedals broke like 5 times but as someone who broke af Im good at repairing stuff, so its barely alive but works. Im planning on buying normal pedals this month, hope theyll worth it. (something between 120-200$)
Honestly, best value you can find online 2nd hand in my opinion is the old Logitech DFGT. I frequently see them for $50 and the while the weakest link is still the pedals, id argue theyre better than Thrustmasters base 2 pedal set. Plus you get a sequential shifter on that too.
bro made 6 minute long video, gave it a misleading title, and basically only showed that he low-balled a guy for a used entry level thrustmaster wheel. 10/10 content. stick to reviews
How? He has everything in it? It covers everything I needed to know and if I’m interested I can always research more unless that to hard for you. And he negotiated for 100 dollars, where th title says with ONLY 100 dollars not under
if you already have a PC and monitor, then this is easy in the UK as you can buy a used DF GT wheel super cheap as they can be had for £60 or less as CEX sells them for £60.00 currently and few years back I picked one up for £20 in box and then you can buy a cheap wheel stand for about £40 to £60, but if you left out the wheel stand and clamped to a desk then can be done for under £50
Used is always the way to go if you're just starting out in this insane hobby of ours. It's scary how many folks practically give this stuff away after their kids/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend get sick of it...or hardly used it at all. Awesome editing as always Oscar, and keep clear of them there coppers, eh 😁
you should now do videos on upgrading this setup on the cheap, first thing I would do is look for a used set of Thrustmaster T-LCM pedals as a loadcell brake will do far more for your lap times than upgrading the wheel base to something stronger.
I have bought mine T150 that has calibrating problems for 22 USD from a work colleague and a Playseat Challenge for around 65 USD (prices converted from CZK) and when paired with a 40" TV and my PC, it was just enought to get me interested and immediately START TO THINK BIG - that is: I have immediately reasoned that I would really do best as far as immersion goes with alluminium profile rig, some nice seat, DD wheel setup, the clutch being a must and also a shifter - I have surprisingly have had the most fun probably on Assetto Corsa and No Hesi mod, as well as some rally maps as well, touge and even paired it up with my PS4 Pro and did some GT Sport and other games - I think that regardless of which setup overall you choose, you will end up aiming for the best gear that you can afford, one or another or more things being expensive anyway (like someone would probably aim for like a folding up sim rig like the challenge, a wheel like logitech G29 but would know off of the start that he needs to pair it up to a monster of a PC with some expensive shifter, handbrake and probably even some expensive VR set) and that is imho good, not to mention that you can really get a feel for it for like a year or more, all the while YOU PLAN and wait for some newer stuff to come out, or even imagine that you are so passionate about and waiting long enough so that your force feedback wheel is still Logitech or Thrustmaster but also, since you did not spend crazy money on something else, allong the way you have found out that hey, I like to do a tad bit of racing and also some truck / bus simulator to relax, but only if I have had some fancy wheel for truc-- oh wow, whadda ya know, I am saving all this money for all this time and in a couple of months, a new trucking wheel might be released (I mean the Hori but also Moza TSW) - now I can afford it immediately as it gets released for sale! To narrow it down, I think that it is better to start with the absolute basics and plan ahead what is the absolute must that you have to upgrade to in the future.
Ive been using a tmx for 6 years, and other than me sweating a lot of grip away and the A button is no longer clicking, Ive had no issues with it. Been intending to upgrade for 3 years now but don't have the room for a rig and direct drive.
good wheel are just unaffordable, anyone got any recommendations for me? The wheel needs: - Force Feedback, i have a wheel without FF now and really want to try a wheel with Force Feedback. - To work on PS4/PS5 - Under $150 Does anything line up with those?
Just ordered my first wheel after more than a 100 hours of research, still ended up on the g29. ngl I wanted to stick out and go for another maybe even better wheel but in my country I just can’t find something at the price of the g29, also got the thrustmaster th8s with it. can’t wait to race
I got most of my setup for pretty cheap, ending up scoring a racing sim rig for $30 in good condition and later on found out that it goes for $400 on Amazon.
I bought a trustmaster t300 with pedals and a Ferrari wheel for 70 bucks and it works perfectly. That was the most luck I’ve ever gotten na with buying something used.
Fun facty entire vr rig was $100 w/o pc. I got 5$ ikea table and used free chair that someone was giving away. Then found a g25 for about $50 and then a $45 rift cv1
I got the the T150 (TMX for playstation) but the pro version (so with T3PA pedals) and while it is much better than non force feedback wheels i would not buy again, and for the price of an entry level direct drive i got myself a freakin motorcycle so guess no sim racing for me. (Literaly payed 500 bucks for a fully working GS500 and its way more fun than sitting in front of a screen. Maybe I’ll get a DD in the winter tho.
