      Yo ed, u bought a decent wheel but theres 3 categories and u picked the worst one, there gear driven which u got, and the loudest and weakest, then theres belt driven which is smooth, good force feed back which is how realistic the wheel feels during it being used, and its not loud and quiet, then theres direct drive whuch is the best, most realistic u can get but its also the most expensive,
      U got the g923 which is probably the best gear driven wheel, but if u want a casual game play then its good enough but if you want to advance to belt driven i recomend the thrustmaster t300 rs gt
      The g923 isnt good for f1 racing
      I would also recommend carx drifting game, assetto corsa no hesi, and beamng

    for the pedals moving around on the carpet. On the bottom of the pedals there is a spiky edge. Right below the spiky edge there is a button. If you press that button the spiky edge comes out which helps to grip onto carpet.

      Until you get a proper cockpit here's what you can do for the pedals to keep them from moving around: Take a small piece of plywood (3/4" thick) mount the plywood to the back of the pedals, then take two short 2 x 4's and mount them to the bottom of the plywood (flush with the left and right side of the plywood). Make the 2 x 4 pieces long enough so that they will contact the wall. That way when you push the brake pedal the pedals won't move. That spiky strip on the bottom of the pedals isn't strong enough to hold the pedals in place.

    Sim racing is really fun! The logitech wheel you just bought isn't the best, and i'll explain why. In sim racing, there are different types of ways the wheel generates the "force feedback", or the pushback/vibration in the wheel. The logitech one is gear driven* (thank you for correcting me), meaning the force feedback is very weak, at about 2 nm and will not be powerful enough to provide the best experience. On the other hand, direct drive wheels can generate more force feedback, are more accurate, and are just all around better. Another advantage to direct drive over the logitech one is the ability to change the wheel rim, so you can use for example a f1 style wheel or a drift wheel depending on what you are playing. A budget friendly direct drive wheel would be the Moza r5 bundle, or the Fanatec CSL DD bundle (who was recently aquired by corsair), which provide 5 nm, which still isn't the best, but will make a world of difference. On the higher end, there are companies like Simucube, which offer wheel bases that are top of the line, that offer more detail and a better experience. Hope this helps if you decide to buy more gear!

      Actually the logitech is worse than a belt driven wheel, it is a gear driven wheel, so there are some little plastic cogs connencting the motor to the wheel rather than a belt. Over time the plastic tends to get worn out and create some play and making the wheel very noisy and rattly.

    next time you upgrade your sim setup chose MOZA setup, 18:11 the E-brake behind your back from moza but you probably don't need it, but while you upgade everything some day you need to upgrade a shifter, MOZA have magnetic one, wheel base chose betwen MOZA R9 or R12 that's mid price wheel base, pedals not that important but for the experience you can take Moza SR-P, you most likely don't need high end pedals.

  • @DaPickle08

    I will say in the settings of acc you can change the angle for max turing radius, the gt cars irl use less angle, which should help with the turning and downshifting at the same time. And he brake being stiff, logitech puts a solid piece of rubber inside of the brake pedal cylinder, which you can remove with a bit of disassembly

    • @yzx
      @yzx Місяць тому +1

      The sollid piece of rubber is only in the older g29 and g920. They newer g923 has a better brake pedal.

    Hey Ed! For the next step, definitely a cockpit, but maybe one that does not have monitor mounts so you can go for a VR setup instead. VR takes up less space, and is usually cheaper than a triple monitor setup. You can use the extra funds to put into getting a better quality cockpit. I recommend the BigScreen Beyond VR headset. Its tiny and high quality.

  • @legend.Is.a.qt.WasTaken
    @legend.Is.a.qt.WasTaken Місяць тому +7

    As a IRL racing and sim racing driver, I appreciate that you've chosen high-quality beginner parts, such as a wheel with force feedback. This makes the driving experience compared to cheaper alternatives.Thank God you didnt cheap out cause that would have been a fast way to leave the niche
    For your next upgrade, I recommend investing in a cockpit first. Consider options from reputable brands like: Next Level Racing, Playseat, GT Omega, Sim-Lab, Trak Racer, Rseat, Sparco, or SimXperience.
    Once you have a solid cockpit setup, upgrade to a direct drive wheel, which offers superior performance compared to the gear-driven Logitech G923. Some brands for direct drive wheels include: Asetek, Fanatec, Simucube, Thrustmaster, Simagic, Moza Racing, VRS, and AccuForce.
    Additionally, you'll need a compatible steering wheel i recommend: Fanatec, Thrustmaster, Logitech, Simucube, Simagic, Moza Racing, Cube Controls, Ascher Racing,GSI.
    For pedals, I suggest brands like Fanatec, Heusinkveld, Thrustmaster, Simucube, Asetek, Simagic, Moza Racing, and HPP Simulation.
    This might be expensive however here's is my setup if you would like to copy:
    • Cockpit: Trak Racer TR160 MK4
    • Wheel Base: Asetek Invicta
    • Steering Wheels: GSI Hyper P1 and GT-MAX32
    • Pedals: Heusinkveld Ultimate
    • Shifter and Handbrake: Heusinkveld

  • @ethan_p21
    @ethan_p21 Місяць тому +7

    the g923 is a very basic entry level sim racing wheel and pedals along with the shifter. If you are just starting out, the logitech g923 is a great choice to buy if you don't really know a lot about sim racing and want to have fun while learning and eventually upgrade your setup to brands like moza or fanatec or even better sim racig companies. But they get more expensive (obviously) so getting that logitech was a smart choice if you just want to have a good wheel or experience sim racing and eventually upgrade.

      Actually trying a rig setup would be a great way. Several setups. Personally, I have a Next Level Racing GT Elite aluminium profile rig matched to a Logitech G Pro wheel.
      Boosted Media, SimRacing 604, OC Racing, all good sites, but it won't be long before you can sort out who is giving reliable info.

    With a cockpit, the pedals will not get away from your feet. Also the force needed to brake, in the driving position of a cockpit, is far less and feels a lot more natural.
    Maybe the settings on the wheel will help to turn it less (more turning angle) so the padds never leave your fingers while making turns.

    It requires a lot of time and passion to master racing simulation, basically, everything you do in a normal vehicle you should not do as a "racer", such as braking while turning. UltraWide is clearly not the best option if you want to go for something like you saw in the store, multiple monitors will always be the best option because you have way more range of view compared to any ultrawide monitor.

    I recently built a racing sim but didn't want the Logitech or Thrustmaster since it's not Direct Drive... I ended up getting the Fanatec bundle with the 5nm power supply but I purchased an 8nm one from ali express for $30 CDN and a cheap shifter that is built better than others I've tried.
    I love it way better than the Logitech 923 setup my boy has. Less noise and way smoother. Then 8nm makes a big difference but the 5nm is still better than the other 2 brands.
    Edit: Playing my VR headset is way better than 39' Ultrawide. I suggest ppl try out Vr for sim racing.

    Racing car steering is really direct you should charge the settings so that you dont have to turn the Wheel more than 270 degrees, that also fixes the shifting

    Fanatec or Moza Wheel/Pedal bundle would be my first suggestion. Then the cockpit. The PC and the monitor are fine for now.
    Also, a racing caliber brake system is extremely stiff. The sim pedals typically emulate that if they're decent.

    I'm torn. This is a good setup for someone just starting or a gift for a kid. But as far as sim racing gear it's the lowest end and kinda sucks but nothing else can fall in that 350$ budget. I agree with other commenters that a Moza R5 bundle would be a significant upgrade at 500$. Too increase your consistency and comfort a frame is a must.( even just so the pedals don"t move). As far as immersion I would say that the mid to high range standard for monitors is an 49' ultrawide or triple 32's. 3 monitors is better than ultrawide but you introduce a certain difficulty in setting up in certain sim racing titles and you often need a dedicated stand alone triple monitors stand.

    hey edgar, you might not notice me but i have lots of sim racing knowledge. When you want to upgrade, get the following: moza r5 bundle, moza srp lite clutch, moza srp lite performance kit, moza es wheel, moza 12 inch round wheel mod, moza es formula mod, moza hgp shifter, moza hbp handbrake. that is a good mid- rance setup. after that go to the r9, and stop at the r12. and make sure shayla and olivia get to drive on it.

    Next step i think is a decent sim labs or track racer cockpit something like an moza r9 wheel base and wheel and then some CRP Pedals if you wanna stick with moza and then a shifter and handbrake the second step is always expensive. - simworx has some very high end stuff if you want

    Try not to rely on racing line & braking overlay and learn to see the markers on the tracks (aka braking points) like the 50m marker on left side at 28:09. If you brake on that point, its a little too late to make it on the apex of that corner. Experiment on the braking points, if you didn't make it on your current lap, try to brake a little bit earlier on the next lap. Shift only when braking and accelerating, you really dont need to shift when turning. Downshift when you start to brake at the braking points, accelerate after you hit the apex of the corner and start to shift-up when you rev to limit rpm. Learn the track without the lane markers turned on. Learn the available settings you can do with your logitech wheel & pedals like how sensitive is the wheel when turning, brake pressure, brake bias, etc. When you feel there's a limitation with your current setup, then upgrade. Stick with what you have for now and learn from it. Don't splurge on more expensive gear until you feel limited by your current setup. Your stick shift would probably best work if you do rally racing (different kind of racing experience though).

    I recommend you buy thrustmaster wheel, the logitech turns only 900 degrees and the most thrustmasters like the budget t150, t300 turns 1080. Its also quieter and has better feeling and a better motor, as well as better pedals. The 150 should be similar price to the logitech. There are other things better on a thrustmaster like the motor etc. but if you want to know more i recommend you watch a video.

    Hey man, for that h pattern shifter in asseto corsa, you need to go into the settings and change it over to H pattern. You might even have to manually row through the gears under keybinds for it, but I think as far as I can remember you should just be able to change it over to H-pattern manual shifting

    I have a simracing rig and applied for the setupwars. :)
    If you sweat while driving, install a fan blowing at you. There are good looking tubes like in a real racecar.
    What you should know about simracing is - its a seperate hobby you need to invest time and do a lot of practice sessions before being competetive. Its not just about laptimes. Its about being consistent doing clean laps without crashing while other are putting you under pressure. And if its a teamrace (endurance race were you swap driver), the pressure is then even higher, because you dont want to mess up the race.
    Theres a lot to learn about physics how the car behaves and what happens based on your inputs.

    If you want a game that is more accurate to real life driving, it's gonna be BeamNG Drive up on steam. BeamNG also works amazing with Automation (also on steam) because in this one it lets you build a car from the ground up, including engines and transmissions and stuff like that. You can than import the car you just created in Automation directly in BeamNG and experience it. Of course there are also a lot of car models to choose from in BeamNG without Automation.
    Have fun with your new racing sim setup its really cool.

    I love that you want to get into sim racing and I really want to see more but I think you do need some help: to start on a positive, you went for ACC which is a good sim, don't fall for the trap of iRacing, but then the driving is crazy and you're setup isn't it. For like 499 you could've gotten the cheapest Fanatec bundle which is the bundle I'd recommend, it has a direct drive motor so it will feel a lot more realistic, it has more power so more feedback which results in a better feel, the setup is a lot more solid compared to the overpriced Logitech bundle and I will warn you, this "toy" was stiff and strong for you but it will get a lot heavier 😅 I hope this helps, if you have questions I'd love to help the legendary TS❤

    to improve at racing sims i think you need to brake in a straight line, then execute the turn, and put on gas out of the turn. Don't brake going into a turn, brake in a straight line. I haven't played racing sims in years but gran turismo on playstation worked this way, and it's also how you should drive a real car.
