One morning after a hard night of partying, I put this song on and went nuts. Certainly one of the greatest rock bands ever, their work covered a real spectrum, from brilliant re-working of old blues like this to full blast heavy metal and intricate acoustics to outstanding innovations. One thing I’ve come to be fascinated by is how the best rock artists, sometimes envisioned as just three chord strumming, loud punks, have actually created some of our most truly exceptional music. When the past 50 years of avant-garde so-called classical music and thousands of wretched rap and hip-hop abominations and every Taylor Swift album have been long forgotten, I’ll put money down that they’ll still be playing Zeppelin.
Misty Mountain Hop was the one that blew my mind. I was 16 years old, and I had a Madonna tape literally stuck in my shitty little car's cassette player. I plied that thing out with a screw driver FAST.
Re: Fred Sherwood..dead on. Actually 4 Sticks threw me for a loop. Apparently took a bit to get it right, and Bonzo nailed it. However I read they only played it live once. Well he did have 2 sticks in his hands and everyone knows Steve Gadd did that but Bonzo did it definitively in the world of rock. Heavy metal is not what Zep was, they just had the loudest, most powerful drummer on the world stage. Stairway is essentially a folk song until Bonzo comes in. How about The Rain Song? There's so many amazing things about this song: Robert Plant's Wailing vocals and harmonica solos, John Paul Jones' Thumping bass line, John Bohnam's massive sounding drums, and both of Jimmy Page's wailing guitar solos. Having seen plenty of singers on stage, I can say Plant is the King. No one presents himself so lightly and spectacularly at the same time. And the same is his singing. I know dozens and dozens of rock singers. But again, Plant's singing is light, like a butterfly, and at the same time, heavy in its excellence.
As a long time LZ fan, I appreciate all aspects of the band. But in my book, while Plant was an excellent showman, his actual singing left something to be desired. Clarity being the main thing. Now about this song: Led Zeppelin is one of my favorite rocks bands, and this song is one that really turns me on, so what a great experience I have because now I play this song on the drums !! It is so exciting!!!!
This song still sends chills down my back like it did when 1st heard it 50+ yrs ago. Best Zeppelin song, best cover ever. Saw LZ live on 7/23/73- AMAZING! Loved the Hindenburg footage! (Met a man who witnessed the explosion as a 14 yr old, with his parents.)
Wicked ! When I was a child I would watch The Hindenburg movie with my mom and was so fascinated and horrified by that impressive invention and its demise as shown in the film. This montage is really quite extraordinaire as the backdrop to a equally extraordinaire Led Zeppelin song. Very cinematic. It is a gift when someone can assemble music and image in such a way as to reveal new possibilities in story telling.
I’m 52 and have a 7 year old. She’s lucky to be able to grow up to this music instead of what they play now. Pink Floyd, Ozzy, Zep, Beatles, you name it..
Lol, backwards echo. The tape was flipped, echo applied, then flipped back. The drums sound huger than normal as the tape was slowed down. Little known fact.
What extraordinary visuals! Kudos to Matthew Fuggi for a highly original, imaginative film clip to accompany this Led Zep performance. Seeing the Hindenburg engulfed in flames as Robert Plant is chanting "Going down! Going down! Going down, now!" is a stroke of pure genius.
This album got me kicked out of 3 dorm rooms, 2 condo's and a VA hospital. Rock On Brothers!!!!!!!!!

The first time I heard Led Zeppelin, I was 14 years old in ‘69.
Holy Fuckin’ cow!!
Everything changed. I finally saw them in’72, in Denver.
I turn 70 next year, they remain very relevant and active on my playlist…
Bonham made that band
@@73maf53everyone of them made this band. Greatest!
Listened to them as a child, my brothers used to play it but I grew up with Abba , Madonna , the '''suzie 'quattro.......never so amazing like this, Im enjoying them at 64 blasting it in the car.....ha ha....never too late to enjoy good music. This song is my favourite.
as the old saying goes - I don't always listen to Led Zeppelin, but when I do, so do all my neighbors.
All my FAVORITE zeppelin tunes,
Are also my neighbors favorite ZEPPELIN tunes..
Whether they chose it or not..
(You absolutely welcome)
I live four blocks away from your house...please turn the music louder
Still the finest example of Blues Rock ever produced. Thanks guys, for showing everyone else the way. Literally, the deepest pocket ever put to tape.Bravo!
The drum in this Song.... Boys... The drum in this song.... 🤦🏻♂️♥️♥️♥️
12 years long and you are the greatest Rock band in music history. I love the rhythm and the music they play. Pink Floyd is good, deep purple is good but led Zeppelin is part of another planet.
Zeppelin is so far above.. it’s scary..!!
@@TRUMP-2024-STF I agree.
No way you just put Pink Floyd on earth. They're interstellar 👀😎
You know this is a cover right?
@@burns83 it is, but they made it their own and it is beautiful
I remember the first song and album I heard of led Zeppelin with the 1969 the first album that came out and ever since then I'm going on 65 now still jam out cuz they're legendary rock gods❤
Andy Johns was one hell of a engineer. Just listen to that thunderous Bonzo beat.
Hammer of the Gods indeed!
Best band ever
PERIOD 🤘!!!
Literally discovered this song a week ago due to shuffling my library and it's been on repeat ever since
keep it up!!!!!
Hypnotic, sublime, outstanding LED ZEPPELIN, the juggernaut of Valhalla, best band EVER.
Greetings from Danmark 🤜🇩🇰🤛
Greeting right back from the States! Glad you enjoyed it.
Im still digging zep at 60 years old
I'm with ya Herman, I'm 56 and believe it or not I used to have a 4 track tape of this! You probably remember the very old and odd 4 track tapes but many folks have no idea what I'm talking about, they were exactly half the size of the 8 tracks n were big in the sixties! I had a 4 track tape player and a few tapes, I really wished that I still had them today!!
At 51, listening since a teen. As tastes change over the years, Zeppelin always has a song for the period.
I'm 62 :) and... WOW!!!!
@@jeffjones4327 I'm 65 a very young 65 at that.lol I am still rocking to their tunes. For me they are the greatest rock band and Plant was the best front man to ever grace a stage. I've been to many concerts. Joplin when I was 15 Clapton Rush many times and multitude of others but Led Zep was absolutely the best. I only saw them once but had I had the chance it would have been many more times.
im 19 and digging zeppling instead of shitty new music
I don’t know what spirits exist to guide a small group of humanoids toward each other so that they can make something like this, but I sure am glad it happens every now and then.
Brillant led Zeppelin aboce us all Mercy
Me too!
Right. Led Zeppelin is proof there is a god.
It's a song that hits every "note" perfectly... the harp, bass, guitar/slide and DRUMS!! Hard to think of a song in the same vein that compares.
As far as I'm concerned, this is one of Led Zeppelin's
few greatest songs that feels and sounds like it was ahead of the 70s era. The beat on this track can be manipulated by any rap/hip-hop artists. It's that good 😊
This song made me throw a toaster out a window out of happiness
i grok
Why a toaster?
I might listen to Zep all the time, but when I do, so do my neighbors.
Lol
Hope they enjoy!
You’re bringing important culture to the neighborhood....
Awesome brother!
No one has ever resisted to pay attention to the opening bars!
"cryin' won't help ya
prayin' won't do ya no good"- Led Zeppelin, when the levee breaks
Inspiration for Good Girls.............
If ever a band existed that embodies all things rock and roll, it would be Led Zeppelin. No band has ever remotely approached the drawing power that Led Zeppelin always commanded.
Guess You Never Heard Of A Little Band Named Pink Floyd
@@roberthurst7998 F""k Pink Floyd. They're great but cant touch Zeppelin.
A men you hit that right on point.
Yo Floyd is great however no soul groove.also surly a sighn of deep rooted issues severe deep dark depression and non repairable organic brain damage.I know knowledge and wisdom come at a high price.I know y'all know
The portal to travel in other dimensions and universes was discovered: listening to Led Zeppellin!
Live in person , sometimes trance inducing.
the Moody Blues actually have the other dimensions and universes covered. It's what they did.
While looking at a zeppelin
so true
what have they put in this ITS UNBELIEVABLY OBSESSIVE , insane song fr
My favorite song of all times, I could never get tired of listening to this art piece.
Lot of copies out there of people trying to be them but there will never be anyone like Robert Plant and the guys of Led Zeppelin. NO ONE!!!!!!
When you are in self quarantine you watch the Zeppelin burn.
As long as you are alive! You listen and watch Led Zeppelin.
Ohh ... ohh ... “burn .. baby .. burn” - brilliant statement for a phenomenal classic whilst in lockdown - where ever you may be globally mate .. hoping all is well regards the impact of Covid-19 on your life - (please don’t hate me) whilst we had to still undergo lockdown protocols ... here in beautiful Esperance in Western Australia ... we are so f.....g grateful to have always been throughout the pandemic ... COVID free ... and most likely due to our geographic isolation .. COVID-19 free moving forward ... though I always enjoy any chance to enjoy the worlds greatest rock band - long live memories of Zeppelin - take mate
@@greghall7796 Aloha from Big Island, Hawai'i ! You and yours take care !
Zep is one of those Eras. Will never go away ! !
I lived about 3 miles from where the Hindenburg went down in Lakehurst NJ.. Crazy
It's hard to explain...I won't argue that this is Led Zeppelin's best song, or even that it's my favorite. But I get chills hearing Levee that I just don't get from Stairway or Whole Lotta Love or Black Dog or any of the others....songs which my conscious mind prefers, but my subconscious apparently feels differently, lol.
This song is my favorite. It has been that over 40 years. It is song of my life. Wonderfull!
How they got that iconic drum sound from an old building hallway, I believe, is sooo gooood. This video is awesome 🇨🇦
Dear GOD! That crash is so effing majestic. That cymbal makes the song, no doubt at all.
I'm actually in my 40s..used to listen to this on my teenage....nothing has been changed...long story short: Music keep you young and alive 🤟
Одна из лучших песен этой уже давно классической группы, супер восхитительная песня!!!
ENORME, GRANDIOSO !!!!!!
The 70s was a time when we knew our planet was not indestructable
One of Zep's best ever tracks and what a testament because there's so damned many to choose from over the course of their career. This is simply sublime. Probably the best rock band that's ever graced the planet.
When I kayak in the Delta of Sac River. Love listen to this song. Just hope the levee doesn't break.
It's been raining for four years, and the levee done broke. Pretty soon we're all gonna weep and moan. And cryin and prayin ain't gonna do us no good.
Diooooooos!!! The drums give me chills and the harmonica is from outer space... raw power, poetry, Music quoi!
I blew up me big bass speakers playing this. Fluttering they were. But still going. Promptly replaced for the same treatment. Still going. Marvellous.
I am just glad I lived in a time where this was the gold standard. I will die a happy satisfied person. This is what heaven sounds like to me.
Been a Zeppelin fan since 9th grade 1989 I had a teacher who had the guy holding the lantern inside the album cover for a tattoo
I knew a guy who dated a gal who had a brother who knew a guy. Whatever. I think the Levee just broke.
1973
I saw them perform live at The Largo Capitol Center in 1977 in Maryland. Led Zeppelin was there for 4 nights. I saw the 1st show and the 4th show. Imagine a young black woman having the experience of my life. I've had many years of listening pleasure, I still play Led Zeppelin daily. I'm 67 years old/young now. I have so many memories of Led Zeppelin. It's now 09/09/2024 at 9:02 AM
Lucky girl!!

Dude...
I'm listening to this and having a transcendental, euphoric, and levitating out of body experience! Out of this world! 💥🚀🌌
Been listening to this song as long as I can remember. I remember listening to this while driving in country roads with my girlfriend. Best times. Still gives me the chills, the good kind 😉
I am learning to play the drums, just 6 months since I started. I am really enjoying this new part of my life. Now about this song: Led Zeppelin is one of my favorite rocks bands, and this song is one that really turns me on, so what a great experience I have because now I play this song on the drums !! It is so exciting!!!!
Just might be the greatest track of all time 💖
This song still sends chills down my back like it did when 1st heard it 50+ yrs ago. Best Zeppelin song, best cover ever. Saw LZ live on 7/23/73- AMAZING! Loved the Hindenburg footage! (Met a man who witnessed the explosion as a 14 yr old, with his parents.)
Was lucky to have been there in 73,75,77 tours Awesome in every way!
When I was in the Navy, my battalion HQ was at NAS Lakehurst (NJ)... I stood on the spot (curtesy of a marker) where the Hindenburg crashed...
Your kids got the ear.
Roberts eerie harmonica and I've said this before how does thunder come out of a drum set. RIP JB☈☈☝👍
He was playing his harmonica backwards.
@@MRC1110 cool thanks for the info
Lol, backwards echo. The tape was flipped, echo applied, then flipped back.
The drums sound huger than normal as the tape was slowed down. Little known fact.
Exelente Production !!!.
Nothing better today's music isn't music. My dad told me play that album 1 more time I'll break it lol
My favorite song by my favorite band! Freakin’ awesome, truly.
Awesome video. Brings me back to 1977 in Landover Md. I was 17❤❤❤
It’s 2021, it’s still on my playlist.
Best drummer of all time John Bonham
Absolutely! And his constant use of the cymbals was amazing.
Absolutely !!!!
Bonzo ❤
My last name the same born in 68 all my life while my name is Jim I'm called John especially in high school I'm 56 now and it's kinda simmered
Даже не верится, что этой песне уже полвека! Какой звук !!
