This song is 50 Years old and will still be timeless 50 years from now.
Она будет всегда молодой....вечно
Amen
The sweetness of Jimmy Page's feelings still surprises me.
Such a beautiful song
This is not music, this is another dimension
Jimmy's solo is a masterpiece
There is NO band in the world, and there will never be a band, who can even stand beside these gentlemen of rock music.
Led Zeppelin will always be the first and best rock and roll sound ever!
Perhaps the most beautiful piece of music ever written.
This just might be the most beautiful song ever
Agree
They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band.
My greatest regret in this world is not being able to see them live in their prime.❤
I too feel your pain friend. For I was born in 1987 so I never even got a chance. I'm just glad I found them at a very young age. Then around 10-11 my stepdad showed me the song remains the same on VHS 📼. It was The single handedly best show of all time from any band out there that I've actually seen in person live. Silver sun pick-ups is one band that surprised me. Saw them at the Greek theater and they played and sounded so f#@kin great live. But like many others just didn't sound as good live. Been to many shows but my favorite is still in my living room on Blu-ray. The song remains the same is a True Gem and I always tell people to see it.
Saw em 7 times between 73-77…unbelievable shows but still wish I had seen earlier but just wasn’t quite old enough to do so….anyway, there really isn’t any band ever that put on a show where the crowd was so captivated that there an eerie silence of open jaws until each song ended at which pint the audience simply when nuts…no one knew music could be so powerfully emotional…note, I’m not catorizing their music as it was so diverse, eclectic and multi culturally influenced it can’t just be called “rock” music…so far ahead of their time no has ever caught up to it…so it will go down like Bach..Mozart…and last forever…anyway, just keep searching and listening to it all cause there is no other band like this one…they are the GOAT
Yes it would have been mine as well, but I was lucky and saw them 5 times in their prime 😢
@@Topsrite wow. You’re so lucky ❤️ Guess what I could’ve n chose not to see in their prime ? justin Beiber 🤣.
Saw them twice....75 at Earls court...then at Nebworth. No interest in most other "Rock bands afterwards...they couldn't compete
5 decades later and this song still brings a tear to my eye. Beautiful composition, arrangements and lyrics. Brilliant execution. A masterpiece.
Well said.
Led Zeppelin didn’t just write songs, they wove music. Utter perfection!
😅
Better than the recorded version. What a band they were in their prime.
Glad to be part of a huge generation of rock n roll music fans that is framed within the parameters of Led Zeppelin.
I was fortunate, I saw them in 1971, before I went into the Air Force. It doesn't get any better than this. Boys and girls, this is music. I'm 70 years old now. Thank you for this clip.
This is my favorite recording of all time. The live versions are so much better than the studio versions. More Emotion.
Aug '74 three months before my 20th Festival seating middle against the stage was the very best. Robert Plant was approachable, kind and allowed me to hold onto him in a loving, apprective way. I didn't mean to. I sort of just reached out and he didn't shake me off like a dog. 🤣 Life was good.
❤❤❤
Thank you for your service.

One of so many of Jimmy's masterpieces.
In 1973 I was a junior in high school. I was 16, now 67! I'd only had the House's album about a couple months! I saw this performance from high above in the cheap seats but at least I was in the center, not off to one side. What I remember most was TSRTS and this song. It's lived in my memory ever since and will never fade.
Only time in my life
I've ever seen 4 masters on stage together.
It'll Never happen again!!
Saw them again in 75 and 3 times in 77.
This performance was the best indeed!!!!
Life would have sucked were it not for classic rock...especially Led Zep.
Best rock band in the history of the world!!
Wow. Very emotional watching this. It’s my life, our lives, captured in a magical moment a long time ago.
Kinda makes you wonder. There are magical moments every second of every day. Just have to capture them. Seems simple in concept but life gets in the way sometimes
I am so proud to say Led Zep is my fave band. They are amazing. They make me cry, laugh, and feel like a state of grace.
When this came out and I was a young girl, I always wondered what ‘a little rain must fall’ meant. Now at 65, it’s clear. This song always brings tears, more so as I’ve grown older
Well ok i‘am 2 year‘s junger But no worry‘s This is just brill
i'm 5 yrs behind you but right beside you...
I am ahead of you in my 70s and agree. Little did Robert in particular, know what tragedy was ahead for him when he wrote these words.
Same here!!!!
Masterpiece...
The GREATEST rock 'n roll band EVER! Period.
.period.
Like I've said forever " There's LED Zeppelin and then there's every other Rock and roll band that's been formed !!
Truer words I've never heard !
Guns n roses and Soundgarden or on par with led Zeppelin in my opinion
@@Will324pples and oranges... it's all subjective anyhow. I am probably a bigger Soundgarden fan than Led Zepp.... but LZ has that pioneer status also.
Edit: I like GnR but their career wasn't long enough and they aren't on the level of the other two bands. Just in my opinion !
I’ll have this as my funeral song; an epitaph of life; “upon us all a little rain must fall.” Beautiful alternate tuning from Jimmy, an absolute masterpiece.
I was blessed to have witnessed their genius, June 2, 1973 at Kezar Stadium, San Francisco. A day I'll never forget.

Led Zeppelin will forever be my favorite , so many times in my life their songs got me though some very difficult life lessons 💕💕💕💕
I tried to pick my all time 5 favorite songs. I couldn't do it, but I did establish that this is #1
The voice, guitar, drums, bass and the songs, no more Led zepp will ever exist in this world.
John Paul Motherfuckin Jones, the absolute beast painting gorgeous textures on keys, playing bass notes with his feet, locking in with bonzo and being the backbone for page and plant to go off over. What an insanely talented man, may he forever be recognized for not only just his bass playing. He did so much to make zep what they were
Just pure perfection of 4 guys brought together!

How can you not feel something from this band, when they played!?
Led Zeppelin is still my special favorite...❤
The story is that George Harrison of Beatles fame told Jimmy Page "you're good man but you don't write any ballads...." and the rest, as they say, is history. This song, in this live version, is simply, and utterly, divine.
And the first few chords are from something
One of my absolute favorite Zeppelin songs of all time.
One of my favorites too. I saw them on April 28th 1977 . changed my whole outlook on a lot of things because I was so young.

I too saw them at a very young age...
As a young American teenager,
I was lucky enough to see them in '79 at the Knebworth Festival in England. It's a long story of how that came about.
The short story is it wasn't planned, and when we found out there was going to be a concert, (THIS concert!!!)
my younger brother & I begged our parents like we had never begged before!!
We were on a family vacation over there when the 2 festival concerts were announced.
Funny how the announcement was only 2 weeks in advance!
My brother and I were so young that we, of coarse, had to get permission from our parents to go to this all day festival,
in a foreign country,
to travel far away without any adult supervision,
over several different forms of transportation.
We had to take a subway
(the underground, we started from London), the subway took us to a train station,
the train traveled to a tiny country town where we boarded a bus,
the bus dropped us at a country lane where we walked with thousands of other kids of all ages for a very long trek to our final destination:
a very large wheat field with the tallest stage I had ever seen!
It was about 20 feet high.
Anyway, my mother was insisting she go with us!
But of coarse, I had to tell my mother that would NOT be a good idea, and I told her she would've had a terrible time, etc.
I just couldn't imagine watching Led Zeppelin with my mother standing right beside me!
Well, whatever I said, it worked!
And my brother and I were off on literally, an adventure of lifetime😢!!
It's one I'll never forget!
And luckily, they were recording a movie of it, so I can now watch that footage & it takes me RIGHT BACK to those very extraordinary moments that I was in the presence of Rock Gods.
Truly, I could feel their energy from 20 feet away.
It sounds corny, I know!
They just had this vibe,
it was surreal.
Charisma is not a strong enough word to describe their "presence" but that's what they had, in spades!
I saw a LOT of concerts back then during that Golden Age of concerts, but THAT ONE concert,
THIS BAND,
is one I've carried with me through my entire life.
This band put on a concert that was NOT forgettable!
You say seeing them changed your whole outlook.
I do believe I know what you mean!
The concert I saw was different from any other band, just because it was THEM.
Saying they were magical up on that stage sounds so clichè, but that really is what they were.
Magical!
The band has looked back on that concert and said "...they weren't tight, they weren't ready to play for an audience after such a long hiatus..." blah, blah, blah...
I'm telling you that those things didn't matter to us!
The energy of all us kids out there in that trampled field was electric with anticipation, and just plain excitement!
And when they finally did appear!!
Talk about a VIBE,
well !!
THE Band had THE VIBE!!
They were MAGNIFICENT!!!
The entire experience was MAGNIFICENT!!!
I'm still, to this day, so very grateful to my parents for letting is go to that festival!
BEST parenting decision they EVER made!!
Of coarse, the times were different back then. The dangers weren't as high risk like it is these days. Or at least, we weren't aware of them. I would never be able to let my own kids travel alone like that these days...
At any rate,
Zeppelin did NOT disappoint at that concert!!
In my eyes- they could do
NO WRONG!
I easily forgave them any squeaks, or missed note!
I wasn't there for perfection.
I was there just to experience THEM!
My brother and I found a good spot about 20 feet away from the stage. We HAD to be that far away from the stage just to see the people up there ON the stage!!
I remember wondering if we were going to be too far away from them (Zep) to get the full affect.
I wanted to be close enough to them to feel like I was in the same room with them. Not in a creepy, obsessive way, but just in the way where you sit around jamming with people. Even though I was young, I had already been to many concerts back home. And the closer you are to the artists, the mire apt you are to "share the music in the moment" with the band members.
I wanted THAT with Zeppelin !
Not too much to ask for, eh?!!
Well, I got it!!
Even at 20 feet away,
and even with them being 20 feet higher in elevation, I could still feel their energy!!
No other band ever came close to how they felt as a group.
I could go on and on all day about this concert,
but this comment is already way too long!
I really just wanted to agree with you about how weirdly wonderful one powerful band can be life changing to an audience member.
They literally make up more than one thread in the tapestry of my life.
It is my favorite this version here. It is to be played at my funeral.
It can't be an absolute favourite and one of your favourites at the same time. That isn't what absolute means.
Its freak of nature that a group of guys can find each other and create a masterpiece like this. Same with the Beatles, and they were from the same town

Agreed, its one of my favorite songs as well.
Out of all the songs I've learned to play The Rain Song is the only one I recorded and posted here on UA-cam, check it out.
I'd like to add, I never imagined this song being played on an electric, it really sounds every bit as good live as the studio version (with Mr. Page performing it)..
Looks like I've some work to do as I really need to play this on my electric guitar.
@@hkguitar1984 The first song, on electric, I learned years ago was Muffin Man (Zappa, though I'm sure you knew that)...the very first song, my first real song, I learned, on my mom's parlor size Fender acoustic, was Old Man, the Neil Young tune. My favorite Led Zeppelin track. Beautiful.
Saw Led Zeppelin play in 1973 in Atlanta, Ga at the outdoor stadium. I knew I had found my favorite band then and now at 68! ❤
I saw them in 1977 - Day on the Green = Oakland, CA for two days. That was the last time they ever played in the US. Robert Plant's son died 3 days later. The rest of the tour was cancelled. I had tickets for the fall of 1980 in Wash DC. But Jon Bonham died. So the tour was cancelled and the band broke up.

Right about 1973 at MSG, was when the MIGHTY Led Zeppelin was at their peak. They remained truly great for 6 more years until Bonham's tragic passing, but '73 stands out ... I was 9 at the time. My older brother Les by 5 years loved Led Zepp along with Aerosmith, Alice Cooper and Boston... playing their records in his downstairs room with this big speakers blaring incredible song after song! With his black lights going and smoking that Meigs County Gold weed, he really had it all happenin'. Miss you, brother! Those days are forever timeless in my heart, the childhood of the sweet '70s.
