You can make an entire bottle of homemade natural flea spray for just a few cents. It will save you a lot of money when compared to commercial flea sprays, and it's much healthier for your dog.
"Fill an empty spray bottle halfway with water and then add apple cider vinegar until it is full. This homemade flea spray for dogs is effective at repelling fleas, but it stinks. If you don't want your pooch to smell like apple cider vinegar, you may want to try another option."

Time saver: 50% apple cider vinegar, 50% water, and add a few drops of your favorite essential oil as a fragrance.
Essential oils can be toxic to dogs unless they're diluted. Water and vinegar won't dilute them, only a carrier oil. So while the vinegar is great for repelling fleas, please DON'T use essential oils unless you dilute them correctly. Check for information on line.
@@janerosenblum5470 how to dilute oils?
@@anjagalan6905 Coconut oil, Olive oil are considered carrier oil that help with diluting the essential oil.
Thank you for the imformation.👍🏼
Jane Rosenblum that’s right, use polysorbate 80 to dilute essential oil in the water, and yes I say 80 over 20 because it’s stronger and mix well with more oils
I just applied this treatment on my 5 month old puppy, and although she hated the smell but enjoyed the "game" of being sprayed outside, once I turned her on her back I could see the fleas congregating to the hairless part of her stomach and I could pick them off! What a great instant remedy, that is chemical free, cheap and actually works. Thanks heaps from Australia :)
which of the 3 did you use?
Can you please list the names of what was mixed.
I used 1/2 apple cider vinegar, Braggs brand (any brand will do) and 1/2 water mix in small spray bottle 🙂
@@ReliableFoodLady i dont have a spray bottle, would rubbing it on my dogs fur be okay?
when should i apply these? evening? or in the morning before take him to bath?
Thank you so much for those useful tips. There's always a natural way to do things, and I think your tips are great.
Great video!! Love this lady - so helpful :) 1) Get spray bottle. 2) Fill with: one cup apple cider vinegar, 3-4 drops of lavender oil, add water to fill spray bottle. 3) You’re welcome.
Essential oils usually need a carrier ie: maybe olive oil or baby oil and also an emulsifier to help mix it into solution ie: washing up liquid or maybe castile soap. washing up liquid normally contains Borax which will also repel insects...great vid though
I was looking for someone that spoke with experience and you have it! Thanks.
I was low on dinero 💲💲💰💸 so I UA-cam homemade flea medicine... This worked so well!!
The dogs freaked out getting sprayed, so I took Miley (my chiwoxie) sprayed her in the tub, the fleas fell off in no time. Then Boogie (my Yorkie) was my next unwilling volunteer ...the fleas dropped off... They are so free and happy. I have peace of mind and they are relieved. Thank you 💕💖💗🐶🐕🐾
Witch one did u used? The lemon or the vinegar or the one with the essential oils?
@@2046h vinegar and lemon. It works so good..they fall off
Did you just leave it on? Or did you wash it off for a while ?
Jennifer Salgado Spray them lightly and leave on .
What happens to those ticks and fleas washed from the dog, were they dead or you still gotta kill them?
Which items did you use for the home made antiflea/antitick? And in what ratio pls?
Great video along with the great explanations. Thank you.
Lavender Fabuloso works really well too in the yards or wherever you think fleas and ticks could live or have nests. Just pour from bottle and foam up with the water hose to spread around 👍🏽
I thought That fabloso is very toxic isn't it? I could be wrong? It's a chemical that's right for cleaning?
@@joyceroundy9791it used to be ok, but the lady few years they've added a chemical that got a lot of backlash. i don't know if they stopped using it or not
I love this because i have all these items in my home already. I don't have to go out and buy expensive products. I love the natural optionssssss
U don't love the naturel options ur just cheap sis😂

@Top Dog Tips
thanks so mcuh for your informative vid. i'll be trying them out for sure! just a question with the 3rd best option ( boiling lemon) can we add those essential oils similar to vinegar ? would that make it more repellent? how about mixing that with a bit apple cyder? i thought i check with you first as you might have had tried them or hv soem expereince witht hem. thanks so much again.
Thank You Samantha 😊 i was looking for some really cost effective Tick Flea Spray n when i found your video it made me absolutely Happy.. 😊

hello, did it work?
I'm going to do this in a few it's almost3am by me, but thanks for the portions and the ability to add the oils, I wanted to go this route but couldn't anyone who explained it the way you did. I have all the ingredients right now. Wish me luck and thanks again for you video JD, & My Brooklyn
how did it go
Good afternoon everyone. I hope you all are well during this pandemic. Just a little additional info involving essential oils... oil and water dont mix as we all know so to help with the essential oils, add a drop or 2 dawn dish detergent to your spray bottles. Stay safe and healthy everyone!
Why does dish soap help with the essential oils? So like 3 drops of the essential oils and 3 drops of a dish soap like dawn?
@@kevinmauricio4747 you can add however many drops of essential oils that you think you need but remember that a little goes a long way. They are very concentrated and too much can burn the skin AND some oils are toxic to animals so do some research if you use ones other than what she recommended. Anywho, The dish soap helps to seperate the oil molecules so that it can bee evenly distributed in the water. Of course the bottle will need to be shake each time you need to use it bc the mixture will seperate. Hope that helps.❤
@@shanitrapotier583 thank you 🙂
Thanks !! But i think some oils if applied directly are effective too
but they have to be applied daily thats the only drawback ☹️
Yes ty! I totally forgot about adding Dawn to my spray bottle of water & essential oil. Ty& God bless
Thank you. I'm going to try the vinegar and lavender mixture today!
Did it work?
Arnette???? Helllo? Did it work?
Thank you. ACV 50-50 Worked so well almost immediately. Smells terrible but It Worked!
Now does it kill the fleas and ticks or just repel?
Thanks for tip it’s worked great. When do you bath or shower the dog after spraying?
Store it in the refrigerator between uses. Apply it in the morning before you take your dogs out and reapply in the afternoon before play sessions or whenever you take your dogs out. My dogs go out at will because I have a dog door so I will apply it twice a day. I have also been told that I should spray a lemon based dish detergent over my grass ever so often also. I will do this with a garden hose sprayer. Will keep informed on how it goes,
Any update?

Our dogs can't get rid of their fleas, thank you for the other options. We will try them. 💐
Thank you so much I too have a woody area can't wait to try this I'm going to make the one you use cause I really don't want to smell apple cider vinegar all night because our German Shepherd and Daushund sleeps with us can't wait to hear any more good advice you have taken care and have a great day
Thank you for this!!
Do we give them a bath after the spray? Or its a leave-on spray ?
I gound your flea spray works do much better and not costing hundreds of dollars which is the biggest benefit to my pocket book Thank you very much
So as far as the ACV, water & essential oils mixed with an oil carrier.....my question is can u or should u still add lemon ??
Vet sites say it's toxic but I assume that a few drops of peppermint oil in a big spray bottle would be okay. 4 pound Chihuahua. Crossing fingers.
Update: used this method left the solution on her for a few hours then gave her a bath. Was unbelievable the amount of dead flees that were in the tub. Did it a second time for good measure. It's been 4 days, I check several tines a day for flees but haven't found a one! This works!
I would actually recommend not using peppermint oil. Cedar wood would be better. It’s safer and works to actually kills the fleas also. Not just repel them.
The bath alone, water with lathering shampoo, will kill the fleas without any need of any solution or anything else.
I want to know if I can do this even though the dogs have had flea drops too. I don't want to end up with them having a reaction.
Thank you so much!
Going to try this with my 9week old puppy. She is so young I didn’t want to give her any flea medication. We are very active and are outdoors a lot so I hope this works. Thank you so much!
update? did it work?
@@grandchariot4834 unfortunately not :( my pup is an Aussie and has really dense, thick, hair. I work at a nursery and bring her with me. She got infested w fleas there. I tried the spray & tried soaking a wash cloth w the mixture & rub it all over her. Still she had some. Had to get her flea medicine at the vets and she’s clear now. Still worth a shot to use the spray first tho. For a couple of fleas it can work but if there’s a lot it might not
@@nataliaorsini1899 what flea medication did you end up getting ?
The amount of water and apple cider vinegar does in fact dilute essential oils.
Thanks very much 👍👍👍
You’re an angel!! Ty so much for this info 🙏🏻
Did it work?
What about mixing the lemon concoction with the ACV?
Awesome video. Thanks so much.
I thought about that. It would cancel the bad smell of the apple cider vinegar
How often do you spray your dog with the spray the third spray?
Thanks for this info. How often should we spray to our dogs? Thank you.
Tried it and it worked great! How often can we do this treatment?
Thanks for that
Trying it this weekend. Thank you and, for the record, I dig your accent

Could you mix the lemon water with the apple cider ?
I have watched a few of your videos, we enjoy them so we subbed as well. Is this safe on Puppies, the Apple Cyder vinegar.? I don't have essential oils, might have peppermint since you mentioned it. but he is only 7 weeks old, boxer, he ws the runt, so he is tiny as well.
Thanks for any help or knowledge for it possibly working for the pup. Fleas is all, no ticks here (yet anyhow)
Thanks and have a blessed week.

Does it have to be apple cider vinegar or could I use normal vinegar
Thank you 😊
Lol I was watching this with my pup next to me and he looked up as soon as he heard the squeaker 😂
Thank you.. like really 😌
How many times should i spray my yorkie with the spray?? Daily weekly ect??
Great info.
Trying mint leaves too with that today..
How did this go?
Do this and feed your dogs homemade food if you want them to be healthy for a long time. My 7 month old Scottie gets fresh blueberries, sweet potato, fresh ground turkey meat, and a little greek yogurt as her meals. She loves it and is full of energy, eats all of it in one sitting instead of taking bites all day long, and her coat shines.
Can I be your dog? That sounded delicious
That is not a fully balanced, consistent meal for your dog.
Wish I could afford to do that
U rock....thank you
oh thank goodness!
Does it kill the fleas on the dog. And also how often do you spray the dog?
Thank you
ty...
I will try lemon
Are you able to spray the vinegar and water mixture on the dog??
How nich water do you use with the ACV and rssential pil?
How often do you spray the dog with this mixture?
When you spray them, do you leave it in or wash it off?
That picture makes me itch! Looks like my Lab, she scratches herself raw sometimes. It's not flea or mite dermatitis, but an bacterial issue. The only cure I have found for this is Betadine mixed with witch hazel to the colour of tea and sprayed on the skin. A couple of applications is all it takes. Benadryl antihystamine1/2 tab can also help give relief at night from dogs that incessantly itch. Put it inside a piece of hot dog or wrap with sliced cheese.
Can these work on furniture and rugs? Will they stain?
Hey Samantha just wondering if I can use this recipe on my furniture and around the house as well
Well can ya
Id like to know also
Yes you can
After spraying baking soda with salt and apple cidar vinegar, how many days is the dog can take a bath?
I was wondering with either spray that you are talking about making how long do you keep it on your pet when you spray it on their entire body
with the smell of the essential oils when i tried it on my dogs they jumped right off and later died because i also sprayed around the house to kill any extra fleas that might be hidden and you could see them trying to jump out my windoes
@@kizajaxx4133 you mean the fleas died, right?😯 If so, that's 👍 good.
Are these good for repelling mosuitoes too?
Great video!!!!! Glad I found your channel!
Can you use this around the ears an muzzle
Can I use coconut oil with the ACV & add 1-2 drops of dawn as a commenter added due to oil not mixing with water?
thankyou
Hi, so how exactly to mix vinegar with water? Can I apply to 9 week puppy? Do I need to aim at the fleas or all over the place? Thank you.
How long do you keep the apple cider vinegar on your two month old puppy or do you rinse it off?
Do other types of vinegar work the same way instead of apple cider?
How often do you spray the dogs
How often do you spray them
How often do you spray them?
Does this kill fleas that’s already on them? Or just repels from any getting on them?
Nice.
try adding eucalyptus oil as that can be used as a tick repellent.
Or can make your dog REALLY sick. SMH
We do this with chamolle tea ..would cocunut oil work as essential?
Hi how often do you have to spray
Great voice 😀
How many times do you apply?
1.Boil pint of water with sliced lemons x2. Let it steep overnight and put in spray water.
2. Half water and 1/2 Acv (in a spray bottle)
3. 1 cup acv, few drops of lavender and Peppermint, and water in spray bottle.
I thought peppermint oil is highly toxic to dogs. I'm very confused but that is exactly what I am reading
Does it kill fleas or just repeal it
@joyceroundy9791 you're absolutely right! Most essential oils are toxic to dogs and cats, Especially peppermint! These ppl are going to make someone's pet seriously ill, or worse!
thank you very :
I once cared for a dog for three months as its owner went overseas. It had this fungus that gave her this stinky dog smell and just scratch all day. I made the apple cider vinegar and water mixture and sprayed it on every day for a 5 days and then onece every 5 days to maintain. After the first 5 days she was a relaxed happy dog with no more itching and scratching and her coat was shinny like she had had the best wash and conditioner from an expensive dog parlour. Even the area of carpet where I cleaned her was cleaned and really soft. I now put acv in the carpet steam cleaner. The smell although is very strong, completely disappears after 4 hours. Not really a problem. I would recommend that you do this treatment inside on the carpet in a different spot each time and your whole carpeted area will be cleaned at the same time. She doesn't need bathing anymore cause this is more effective than drenching a dog with water and using suds. No need. She didn't have fleas so I cant say if it is affective for that. But I know my daughter's dog has fleas so I will try the acv and see.
It's actually topical dermatitis caused by yeast.. many dogs produce too much yeast and it causes the hot spots, constant itching and they smell like Fritos...my Pitts all have this..very common. Coconut Oil is calming to the skin and ACV also helps. After a bath with Dawn.. for flea removal..I use an oatmeal shampoo and then when dry, rub coconut oil into the skin...don't bathe too often . makes it all worse.
Do you spray dog any certain way, wet, here and there? Thanks!
Just to make sure I’m not missing anything, this is safe for around the house and to use on your dog? Just spray it on your dog and let dry? I’m assuming the Apple cider smell will dissipate once dry?
Add 2 or 3 drops of Lavender Essential Oils or Lemon Essential Oil, it will help the vinegar smell
Mix water with the vinegar,. water and Lavender Essential Oil or Lemon Essential Oil. Please don't put Vinegar by itself on the dog, it will mess up skin (burn)
@@sheilahollinshed6895 yes, thank you. I’m not so much concerned about the smell, I just take em outside and spray em down. Just wanted to make sure it’s not less effective w/out the oils.
@@missaubrey88 well fleas cant stand the smell of lavender or peppermint so it may not repel the fleas as good without it.

How did it go
I tried the diy flea shampoo a couple of times already. But this time, it got into my dog's eye because she squirmed. What are possible medication. Help me out
