    This was fantastic, I have three old pensions and my current active employer matched pension.
    I’ve been thinking about seeing an FA about them for a while but feel I now have some knowledge to carefully ask the correct questions and do this myself.
    Thank you ☺️

    “Risk vs Volatility “ that is such an important concept. I certainly wasn’t informed by the financial advisors used in the past and certainly “coerced “ into making a poor decision.

    Such a great video!!
    I’m still a bit confused as I’m trying to get through all my fund fact sheets and details….
    On one of my pensions I have an initial charge: 1.8%
    And an annual charge of 0.3%
    I don’t feel I understand what an ‘initial charge’ means.
    Does this mean that my combined fees are 2.1% if I were to keep paying into this pension?

    • @rebeldonegans
      @rebeldonegans  2 місяці тому +1

      Hey Amelia. Thank you for the nice comment!
      The initial charge means what they take from what you put in. Eg you put in £100, they take £1.80. You would have to check if there’s an initial charge on any lump sum up front or if it’s every contribution you make or both
      The annual charge could be a platform fee or the fund fee. Please check! This means that every year they charge you 0.3% of EVERYTHING you have invested
      Im so happy you enjoyed the video and let us know what further questions you have! ❤️

      @ameliahart451 2 місяці тому

      @@rebeldonegans thank you so much for clarifying. As I’m filling in my table, does that mean the total fees would be 2.1%? or is the 1.8% not included as it’s a one time cost 🤔

    • @rebeldonegans
      @rebeldonegans  2 місяці тому

      @@ameliahart451 hey Amelia. Based on those fees, sounds like you’re with NEST is that correct?
      Personally I would have two columns for the fees, one for the initial fee and one for the annual charge since they’re structured differently so you can’t really add them together!
      Let us know how you get on ❤️

      @@rebeldonegansmy situation is I’m currently renting and have done for five years, I’m 58 and want to buy my own property. I have a DB pension I can access a large sum for deposit and also a smaller DC pension I can do same with, both via tax free lump sums. Plan would be to pay off mortgage in either 7-10 years and I liked the fact of having a set income from the annuity to use towards monthly mortgage payments, along with income monthly from DB pension. Basically current rent plus incomes from both pensions would be how much I can manage per month pay towards mortgage payments. Unless there’s a better way? Thanks for replying. I basically need as much deposit as I can get and a secure monthly income, I’m still working and no plans to retire and pay into nhs pension who I’m currently employed with, the DB pension was from a job I left in 2012 where I worked 17 years.

      I’ve got a db pension from an old job which I’ve accessed 25% tax free, paying a yearly income. I currently pay into my work pension which is public sector. I have a personal pension of 31k, plan to access tax free lump sum and receive a set income to put towards monthly mortgage payments, plan is to have mortgage payed off in seven years when I’ll be at retiral age, taking a seven year annuity till then.

      What we always say to people is when you discover what’s been happening or learn about this stuff please don’t beat yourself up or call yourself names!
      The system is not set up in our favour. We’re given the responsibility but not the education or taught how to protect ourselves.

    PLSA survey a bit flawed. Asked people what they "think" they need. Unclear if all responses were cold sober calculations or (say) guesstimates influenced by media and fearmongering. My personal requirements nowhere near what PLSA state this year. Will be interesting to see a comparison survey (Which? usually do a good one). Others may differ with my opinion and YMMV...😊
