Favorite movie of all movies. Love every single minute. I lived outside London and ran 8 miles daily when this came out, 11 on weekends. This movie speaks on so many levels about the 20th Century, race, class, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, philosophy, religion, history, education, fashion, sports, and international relations, to mention a few.

Thank you for your insightful comment. Above all else this film speaks of England, of culture, of a sense of belonging and a profound patriotism.

Great comment Susana - I am a runner too, though never in London - yes , it does say a lot this film - and now you have added another mile for me.

Yes it does speak volumes on race, class, ethnicity. Back when the Olympics was limited to a rich white college WASP's folly. Funny that this film glamorizes the idea of all the things which today's society abhors.

I need to look up Lord Andrew Lindsay. He always seemed to be having a good time.
Like the British term “everything was a lark”. I liked him in the movie so much. It’s because of him that Eric Liddell could run.

This scene, while awesome, was actually filmed at the courtyard entering Eton College, and not the Great Court at Trinity College, Cambridge, which is a LOT bigger.
Also Lord Lindsay was very cool, he seemed like he'd have been a fun guy to hang out with.

Yes, great scene in a great movie, but run by David Burghley, not Abrahams, at Trinity College, 1927. He was the first to run the Great Court Run - the 367 metres (401 yds) around the court in the 43.6 seconds that it takes to strike 12 o'clock.
