Just rewatched “Chariots of Fire” (during the 2024 Paris Olympics). Love this documentary about the film! Kudos to the producers. It sheds so much light on the history behind the movie.

One thing not many remember was the music. At the time even though it was very electronic that music blew everyone away. The most unforgettable soundtrack.

I loved the bit where Nigel Havers gives up his place so Eric can compete in the Olympics. The story was just so wonderfully written it always moves to me to tears. What is to be British and from all parts of the Great British Isles.

I love that part, too. In the real story, after making it known that he would not run in his best events (100 m, 4x100 m, 4x400 m) because they were on Sunday, Eric Liddell qualified on his own for the 200 m and 400 m, but was not considered to be a contender in either event. In fact, he was ridiculed for his running form in the press throughout the world and was expected to lose. Having been given the outside lane in the 400 m made a win even less likely for him, but he shocked the world with his victory and Olympic/World record. I appreciate that this documentary also mentioned that Eric won a bronze medal in the 200 m. The film completely left out that fact.

@@theresamahfouz790It's heartbreaking that Eric Liddell who had gone to China as a missionary died in a Japanese prison camp during the Second World War. He was such a hero and his death was heartbreaking.

This brilliant documentary has been a great deal of help to me to write an article for a magazine in Argentina, for the 40th. Anniversary of Chariots of Fire, one of my favourite movies ever. Nigel Havers, with his British class (his is a total gentleman indeed) has done such a remarkable work by unveiling the fabulous lives of Harold Abrahams and Eric Liddell. Now, I am appointed to write another one on the 100th. Anniversary of the Olympic Games in Paris. Very interesting, because Argentina claimed their first ever gold Olympic medal in Paris 1924, through polo. And I've always wondered if the Argentine polo players could have had the opportunity to see or perhaps bump into the wonderful Abrahams and Liddell.

Enjoying this immensely. Today is Eric Liddell’s birthday and I’ve been doing a bit of a deep dive on him lately. Was very happy and surprised when I realized who you were and who you played in Chariots of Fire! I honestly always liked your character almost just as much as the 2 protagonists because I related to your character and the style he had! Well done! Also, your character always reminded me of Seb Coe. I could see Coe running in a beautiful park with champagne glasses on hurdles!

I just finished watching the film here in my home in Maryland (USA) so now I'm doing a little internet research on it. I have to say, I was very struck by your beauty in the film. You were extremely handsome as a young man! The film is wonderfully made and has many wondrous moments. (BTW, you have a typo in the last sentence: "This firm is fully owned by I.T.V" - should be "film" not "firm.") Thanks for the documentary - very interesting!

I love the theme tune to Chariots of fire much better than the film to be honest. That theme tune by Vangelis is a masterpiece.

I’m surprised that Nigel Havers was allowed to use a ballpoint in the College library when consulting valuable publications.

I wasn't going to do this because i don't like to brag, but i have some things in common with Eric Little. I won 1st place in the 50 and 100 yard dash also 1st place shot put and tied the record in high school for the most pull ups.I benched 350 pounds at the age of 20 and only weighed 150 pounds. There is more, but that's enough for now.I, like Eric also did poorly in school due to missing so many days from issues with depression. One last thing. The good Lord also blessed me with every thing and He gets the credit for all this.I could have gone to college for free on some of the things i mentioned. It would have been nice if i had known the Lord at the time.
