As an independent contractor, I've been pretty happy with my OTR scanner. I'm not tryin to knock this man's equipment. For a single IC, OTR works well. This video is more For someone who owns a shop, and works on different trucks.
OEM software is the best. Unfortunately in the real world of multi brand mechanic I couldn't make a living without aftermarket tools. That's reality. Real mechanics that work on multibtands will agree with me.
The small mom and pop shop can't afford thousands of dollars plus yearly subscription fees.. Myself I use Jpro.. it's not the best but it's the best all around that's affordable. Imo
They rob ppl alot oem for 100+ trucks plus subscriptions is going to be 60k and even higher plus u have to buy every adaptor...as almost every software needs it's own adaptor and one adaptor is 1k and over it's alot the launch x431 does any truck with one adaptor I have some oem that I use alot but that launch ....u can't beat it for the price trust me
It doesn't matter what scanner or software you use if you don't have a solid understanding of how a component or system works. Understanding and knowledge of how something works is absolutely essential to troubleshooting. Anyone can hook ip a laptop and read data but without a solid understanding of how ecms work and how any given system works you will simply be a parts changer. Instead of showing what scanner and software you use why not share your diagnostic strategy to trouble shoot problems?
Owner operator here with 2016 cascadia dd15 what do recomend for me from aftermarket is Foxwell hd500 or, TS710 or launch x431 pro 3s+smartlink any good which would you choose? I want to be able read code clear them, and be able to disconnect/connect some and change settings. Appreciate any help.
been thinking about the OTR Performance Reset Tool... Would it be unreasonable to use this to reset the code to avoid being towed so you can at least get to the shop, and not be at the mercy of whoever? (as far as aftertreatment system is concerned... if it's something else it may be too serious to keep going lol)
Aftermarket software is by far better you just need to know where to buy it and who to buy it from. I have used oem and aftermarket, I'll take aftermarket all day everyday.

I use Texa because I dont want to buy ten different softwares for engines and transmissions! The only OEM software, I will recommend is the Detroit one! When you are a mechanic, unless you Specialize in one truck, you want to diagnose every truck, medium or heavy like Texa or Cojali!
This is the worst company I would never recommend anyone to they are a total rip off the scammers do not go to this. Please avoid this place at all cause.
I disagree. I don't know your story but I probably think u are being overcharged $. U are not being overcharged. It cost big $ to repair anything on a big truck.
@@verajavi12 it only costs so much because they think we make so much money because in reality a big truck takes no more effort to fix than a big F350. They over charge us because they know we are willing to pay.
For one lol I only have oem for the really popular brands I use alot but my aftermarket has every single brand amd they all work flawlessly he just wants ppl spend money
@JamesGregg-wz3se, I guess anything after the truck has been manufactured is considered aftermarket. All our software licenses is from the manufacture and allows us access to up to date manuels for proper procedures.
No. I Work at Freightliner dealer. Nexiq is who makes the software for DDL. Nexiq and Daimler are partners. 50 mechanics. All have laptops and Nexiqs. 😂 😂.
Q. Why there is an annual subscription fee? If software needs to be updated because it was not properly/sufficiently designed/installed/configured why do we need to pay for it?
Oem software is trash. It’s the best you can get true but it needs frequent updates, yearly sub, slow with outdated tech(4 gigs of ram in 2024 wtf) 500 gig storage, prone to crashes. Low battery life, usb ports are cheap and break easy, adapter is also cheap and break easy, etc. all that at a premium price. It’s just a cash grab, they know you need it so they charge an high price and give you bare minimum functionality.
There are different levels of licenses. The one I mentioned for DDDL is a pro license, you may purchase one for less( troubleshooting only.) Thank you for watching and be sure to subscribe.
Can’t afford anything like that, right now, but the one for Cummins is on my wish list. A shop told me if I had it, and the situation arose, they can connect remotely to help diagnose an issue.
Data Link💪🏾🫡This is what I been in need of And I also Have a Gaming laptop I also make music with and it has a Hard drive space Up graded To 64 extra gigs 🍻🍻You just answered my questions THANK YOU BRO 🫡🫡

What do you have?
Nah nothing can beat having a laptop with oem software
The scanner you talking about is the OTR performance???

Aftermarket opens doors ,OEM keeps them closed...
I use texa software and I'm really happy with it. Only issues I have had are with heavy equipment.
so after all this, what is the BEST DIAGNOSE TOOL???
From what I understood it’s the oem

Derates are compliance of government regulations. Engine shutdowns are protections from catastrophic damage
Diesel Laptops by far the best HD and Marine scan tool I have ever used. check it out, on AND off road truck and yellow iron.

Do u know any ecm tuner tools for Volvo D13 engine??
Can you perform scr testing with Diesel Explorer?
His NexIq Interface adapter is "aftermarket", so he is lying about only using OEM software and scanners.

You want cliente to you shop i think
@rolandorusco2129, we want to service the public with the correct procedures to ensure correct repairs.
Yeah, it’s just another way for the man to beat you down yearly subscriptions. I mean we pay enough already for the trucks.
OTR ALL THE WAY

Figure the cost of one wrecker bill will more than pay for the software.
