    Be aware they also sell canvas artworks that are poor quality and stolen from artists without their permission. A friend of mine is currently trying to get one of her artworks removed from their website, it’s being sold for less than £2 😢

    I like to use mini ink pads if they have raised felt because i can ink the whole thing and it savrs space. I recommend the sets og memento dew drop pads. Some big box stores sell them. I thi k i got mine from Joann fabrics. I purchase reinkers online from joanns when they have their stamp stuff 40%off. Ive been using them for over 10 years. The shape make it easy to do multi color inking too. The memento ink wont run with alcohol markers too!

      Thank you for the tips, Lindsay! I haven't been to Joann's in forever. The nearest one to me is in Waterville, which is almost 45 minutes away. I never even thought to shop there online! I will definitely look into that and keep my eyes open for deals!

    The watercolour books and blocks, the Academy ones, both in hot pressed, and in cold pressed are really good quality. I have bought and used them with both watercolours and gouache. Plus the Baohong blocks that Temu sell are very good as well. Definitely worth the money.

    I have the metallic paints and they're surpisingly good. So good I bought all of the variations. I really enjoy using them, especially the golds, and sometimes I mix them with Winsor and Newton paints for the shimmery mica effect. I don't really enjoy using them translucent, and I always use them in their most concentrated form possible.

    I have been using stampin up ink spots,dew drops and tim holtz mini ink pads etc for yrs. They are great for distressing edges and taking places. Like others have said stamp pad on the stamp.
    I have been using the brush cleaning for a yr. First time we used it, my daughter didnt get the seal on correctly. Once she adjusted, it's worked perfectly.

    Sometimes better to let cheap paint activate longer before swatch, for stronger pigments. Also why not swatch the one colour on both paper types before moving onto the next colour, 50% less brush cleaning that way.

    • @CautionArtistatPlay
      @CautionArtistatPlay  10 місяців тому

      Because I wanted to focus on one paper type at a time, it's really not a big deal to wash a brush. 🤷‍♀️

    The reason the barrels of the pencils don't match the lead is because they aren't made together. That barrel is used for a few different products, like fountain pens. Mine has a fountain nib at the end and the ink cartridges go inside the pen where the window is.

    It just looked sooo sweet the way you tried to use the stamp pad. It actually does not matter how small or big the stamp pad is. You do it the other way around. The stamp I have on the table and then I tip with the stamp pad until the stamp has got color all over. Then you can stamp. Great video!!

    • @CautionArtistatPlay
      @CautionArtistatPlay  Рік тому +2

      Haha, yeah, I know, I don't stamp very often (clearly). I have been buying stamps here and there over the past few years but never really had stamp pads and just used markers. Had I actually been doing a project, I would have figured it out, but where I was just trying to do a quick test to keep the video moving along it didn't come to me in the moment. Everybody has been commenting on that part, I must look like a crazy dingbat, but I swear, it would have come to me eventually! 😂😂😂 Thank you for watching! Lol

    Nice haul! M. Graham and Qor are looser paints so I don't use them in a travel palette. Learned my lesson the hard way. You have to keep the palette upright during your travel-time and I totally fail in that department...every time....lol I have the same little travel palette and love using it when I can- it's also my favorite Temu item I've bought. I have it filled with Daniel Smith right now. But any paint that doesn't use honey and whatever the binder is in Qor. I have totally spaced on the name of it, but it's Qor's proprietary so I wouldn't think you have to worry about running across it in other paints. Gouache is another option. I have a dried M. Graham. palette and I love using it. They are a great gouache to dry. On a side note, I tried to keep them in a sealed palette and they molded like crazy on me. Pretty sure it's the honey in them that causes that. At any rate, I love supporting US businesses which is why I've worked so hard to find a way to keep using them.

    • @CautionArtistatPlay
      @CautionArtistatPlay  Рік тому +1

      Good point!! I wasn't even thinking of the fact that the M. Graham are honey-based, even though I knew this and know to store my larger palette of them upright! It just didn't cross my mind while filming this. I didn't realize that Qor have a similar issue, I have tubes of them and haven't tried to put them in a palette yet, so that's good to know! I don't have enough of the Daniel Smith yet to use those, but they are lovely paints. I think I may just end up using my Holbein. I have them in a larger travel palette and have never had an issue with them, and I love using them. I didn't realize M. Graham has gouache!! I'm definitely going to have to look into that at some point! I use my Holbein Gouache in my stay wet palette and have never had any issues with molding since they use very little fillers!

    • @TracieWho
      @TracieWho Рік тому

      Not all Qor colors are equal in the migrating department. I think it was the ultramarine pink that ended up all over my palette. Nothing was as bad as that one. I love my M. Graham gouache, but, I do keep Holbein in a stay wet palette also and have been storing them in the fridge. I am glad to hear that you haven't had any molding issues! I didn't realize that they didn't have much in the way of fillers. I am enjoying using them.

    • @CautionArtistatPlay
      @CautionArtistatPlay  Рік тому +1

      Hmm..that's interesting about the Qor, I will definitely have to keep that in mind! Yeah, the Holbein Artists' Gouache is amazing. They rely on the opacity and matte qualities of the pigments themselves. They don't add any whitening agents to get the matte look, so the colors are more pure, and they have fewer issues with molding and discoloration.

    Those stamp pads work great if you apply the ink to the stamp, not trying to press the stamp on pad. For larger stamps just tap the ink around on your stamp. Good luck!

      @CautionArtistatPlay  11 місяців тому

      Someone else mentioned that it could leak if the surface it's on isn't level. My studio space is old, and the floors slant a bit, I'm thinking that could be what caused it.

  • @rachelhambone1159
    @rachelhambone1159 5 місяців тому

    FYI, the water tank is not vacuum released. It's gravity fed, every time you move the tank it releases water and that's why you're well is overflowing. You can't move it. It has to stay stationary and it works fine.

    • @CautionArtistatPlay
      @CautionArtistatPlay  5 місяців тому

      Yeah, I think one of my biggest issues is that my floors aren't level. My studio is in an older building. So even when I kept it still, it kept overflowing because it wasn't on level surface.

Depending on the item, they will ask you to return but they supply you with a postage label online so you just pop the item/s back in package (inside out), stick the label on and post. No postage cost. Once you’re a regular customer, they usually just refund and don’t require you to return. They are super fast refunding.

    If you turn the stamp rubber side up and tap lightly over the stamp with the small inkpad, you should get a much better result! This small square size is great for inking even the largest stamp. And if you have the stamp with the rubber side up, you can really see how much ink you are putting on, so you don't get a gloppy image!

    The thing with the water thing is u have to make sure it has a perfect seal around the tank or it’ll keep going. Take the lid off and go round the seal inside the lid to make sure its as far in as it can. Also if its not on a perfectly flat table it will keep going till it reaches level. Its the level of the water and the reservoir that stops the water flowing. When u get it sorted it is awesome and works so well. Honestly stick with it its worth it. I adore mind now I’ve fixed it. The stamp inks you purchased are not great ones (I bought some), but they are heavier because they are "pigment" inks. Dye inks look more like markers. Also the small cubes are fine if you don't push the stamp into the pad, but hold the pad and tap the pad all over the raised parts of the stamp.

    • @CautionArtistatPlay
      @CautionArtistatPlay  11 місяців тому

      Yeah, had I actually been concentrating on doing a project l, I would have thought to use the pad on the stamp and not the other way around. I just had too much going on while filming, lol. Everyone had been commenting on it, and really, I'm not that numb, I was just having a moment. Haha! The ink was definitely not my cup of tea, though, so I ended up giving them to my niece, lol.

      @@CautionArtistatPlay It is possible you got a bad one but mine leaks if the canister that holds the water that sets on top is set on backwards it will leak....which leads me to believe that is the problem with the one you got.
      On the bottom of the canister...the top piece that holds water....is a slanted nozzle and it will fit on the wrong way and leak. If the short part of the slant is toward the end with the button, it will leak all the water out and not stop.
      Mine will tend to stick the rubber button shut which I have to gently push before each use and I only use it for watercolor.
      It is actually a handy little device but I think because of the canister, it is getting a lot of bad reviews and they need to make it clearer to put the canister on the right way.

      It's possible that's what happened, I tried to put it on in the opposite direction initially but it didn't seem to fit that way, which how I settled on the way it was in the video. I ended up getting rid of it because I was so frustrated, so I can't try it again now. But thank you for your insight and for taking the time to explain. You put the stamp stamp side up on table then holding ink pad dab ink onto the stamp. So it really doesn't matter about ink size.

    • @CautionArtistatPlay
      @CautionArtistatPlay  Рік тому

      I couldn't do that as easily with the stamp I was using because it has a handle on it. It was just a quick test to see the ink anyway. Smaller pads have less ink overall, so they won't last as long, which is a reason I prefer them be larger. Regardless of the size, I wasn't a huge fan of the type of ink it was anyway. If I end up getting small stamp pads in the future, I will use that technique, though.

      Also I love mine. Yours doesn’t seem to be sealing properly. Maybe it’s defective. All you have to do is tell Temu there’s a problem (via the rate this product review) and they will more than likely refund your money. You are allowed to return 1 item, I think each purchase. They have told me to keep everything that wasn’t right or broken so far. Nothing really expensive. So sorry this is so long. They have another kick back program call adjusted price. They will tell what went down in price and credit your account. Sometimes it’s pennies but it adds up. It’s not automatic you have to click the button.

    I just have an issue with a company that steals from artists and portrays them as their own. You also must think about the money that you save verses the money that you spend on products that don't work, are low quality or those that don't meet your purpose. I do realize most artists are on a budget, but I hate to see artists work so hard on their creations only to have them stolen.

      I wasn't sponsored by them. I have never had any communication with this company. I bought the stuff with my own money so I could test the products for my viewers who may have been thinking about shopping there. Don't shop there if you don't want to. But since it is a popular place right now, and some of my core audience had shown interest in shopping there, I figured I would try some things so I could let people know if it was worth it. Which is why I had no issue expressing my opinions about the products that I thought were crap.

      Nope, I definitely bought all of this with my own money. I wouldn't know what Temu requires people to say, I have never spoken to them. I know they have been reaching out to artists, but they haven't reached out to me. I have seen other artists say in their videos that they got their stuff from Temu for free. I'm not sure who has lied about it. If someone reached out to me and gave me supplies for free, I would say so. If a company required me to lie to my audience, I wouldn't work with them. Period. Clearly, you have never seen my other videos if you think I would do that. I always tell my community when I am using art supplies that were given to me. Honesty is big on my channel. I don't need to lie to people for freebies. I'm not hard up.
