    I bought all the Temu sets as they were so inexpensive and they looked beautiful in the ads. They are even more beautiful in person. I'm glad I took a chance and bought them all.

    TBH I have no problem with cheap brands copying the colour choices of more expensive brands, those are colours that are popular or genre specific after all, so why wouldn't they target customers who want cheaper but similar colours to learn watercolour painting. They also don't make unrealistic claims about the product.

    I think the Temu just needs more time to activate. With your first set of comparison, you sprayed them and use them first in the second set you use them second which means they got to sit longer and activate. They both are beautiful colors.

    The metal by the pans is meant to be pinched in so that the pans stay put. Just a tip because i know it can be frustrating when they slide back and forth picking up the pigments

    Lovely and helpful review, thank you! I appreciate how comprehensive, unbiased and relaxed you are. I have a watercolour sketch book that I use for swatches and I stick the little wrappers down with a swatch of the paint next to it for easy reference. Some of the wrappers have the pigment numbers, lightfastness and opacity information so it is helpful to have that all in one book.

    that peacock blue in the skin palette was random, definitely not burnt ochre colour! maybe it got in there by mistake. But it was a pretty blue anyway. You didnt like the yellow/gold in that set but you might be surprised by a neon yellow in watercolour, Kristy Rice uses it to great effect in her floral paintings :) I like the idea of using the stones in the water jar, sounds cool. I just use a regular sponge like your yellow sponge, cut up into four squares and put one in the bottom of each jar. and i use jars i can fit my whole hand into for easy cleaning. Thanks for the vid its nice to see what you are getting before buying :)

    the peacock and gold are for undertones. And the semiart paper looks better- that prima paper is just cardstock right? I think they are attempting to appeal also to watercolorists and crafters bc they use traditional wc names. When looking at the tins also think of comparing if the edges are rolled or sharp- and lay flat! Cool comparison. Thanks!

    I understand why people would buy from Temu...they're soooo cheap and a lot of the cheap stuff works ok or
    well enough. Early on, I ordered a few things from them too. But everyone just needs to fully understand WHY they're as cheap as they are: Someone at the other end of the line is being paid a pittance to churn out all the cheap crap that we Americans love to buy from them and someone or a small biz somewhere else , that's not in China, is (unfairly) losing the profit that they would otherwise get. And it's not just Temu, there are others direct from China sellers who sell questionably produced goods. And because it's China, it is often very difficult to confirm their safety & labor practices. I understand that even Amazon buys and sells from "direct from China" sellers who are not (or cannot be confirmed) that they are abiding by fair labor and safety practices, but they supposedly say they're not. Temu is reportedly the worst of the "direct from China" sellers. It's your business where you buy from, but we all need to be aware of who we're buying from.

    Great review! I bought the Seami Art Ocean and Forest colors about 8 or so months ago from Temu. The packaging is much different, though. Mine is a square, flimsy styrene tray. And it didn't come with a swatch card, so I made my own. The colors look exactly the same, though! It's a nice palette - I love greens and blues. I forget I have it! I need to use it more because the greens would look lovely in the foliage for the floral paintings I love to do.

    Thank you for this comparison video. The SeamiArt prices have increased on TEMU and some pallets are no longer available. When comparing a price of $17.00 to the Prima Watercolor Confections, I think it maybe better to go with the latter. "T's World Of Adult Coloring" swatched the watercolors as well. Her SeamiArt Skin Tones pan did not have the peacock color, so I think that is TEMU's mistake. The Vintage Pastel pallet seemed inconsistent, IMO. Although the colors are the same, their intensity varies between your swatch and T's World Of Adult Coloring's. For example, the third color (blue) of the SeamiArt Vintage Pastel's is so light on T's swatch that it's difficult to see any color. Your swatch has a great deal more pigment. She tried adding more paint but the color saturation did not improve.

    • @LindsaysCraftCorner
      @LindsaysCraftCorner  3 місяці тому

      Very interesting re: the inconsistencies; how much water you add to the watercolor determines how pigmented the swatch is. You can also build the intensity by working in layers, a.k.a. allowing one layer to dry and then adding a secondary layer and so on.

    I placed my first temu order today but I ended up getting two of the travel empty woooded pallets cuz I've already got watercolors in a metal tin that I bought from Amazon wall back and I love prima's items with their really pricey and I will not buy from them.

    Both sets look more like gouache than watercolour…there is not a lot of transparency in either. Watercolours aren’t meant to be opaque

      This only looks like that in the pan and ofcourse with colours that contain white but that is with expensive brands too. I have the decadent pies from prima and especially love the blues and earthy green in that one, nice and transparant

    Both Seami & Prima are made by the same Korean manufacturer. Becca Hillburn has done videos in both. I don't remember if it's Mungyo or Paul Rubens.

      Really???? Wow how fascinating. I wonder what that means? Do they pass off the paint that doesn't quite match in terms of pigment levels, into these other sets? Thanks for that!

    • @godzandheros
      @godzandheros 5 місяців тому

      I don't think that's accurate as the cakes themselves have different texture to them. The prima almost have this rough/sandy like texture to the cakes and the seami ones appear to be smooth more like w&n cotman, not to mention the pigmentation is vastly different.

      @@godzandheros don't shoot the messenger. I am a federal investigator. Just passing on information on the manufacturer. Several channels have covered the various sub brands by Mungyo and Lightwish that own Paul Rubens.

    This was a very very well thought out review. However, I am only beginning my journey into watercolor painting. I thought watching this would be a huge help but I kept getting confused because the names were similar. I had to roll back the video to determine what name was with which brand. I kind of zoned out after a while tbh...sorry. maybe consider putting the brand name at the top on each side would have helped. In any case I will watch more videos your voice and presentation style keeps me interested. I have not looked on playlists but do you have a video with information about your background? You had to have been a teacher.
    Looking forward to more video. Congratulations on the 1000. Hope you hit 10,000.before years end!

      That is awesome feedback! Thank you! I’m beginning too on the watercolor journey! It’s been so much fun! Thank you for the compliment and your sweet remarks! I actually have never been a teacher, but I would have loved to have been an art teacher! I originally wanted to a forensic pathologist but switched in my late twenties wanting something more. It’s been a journey of discovery and loving every minute! Thank you so much for watching!!! ❤❤❤❤
