This has brought an expected moment of nostalgia for me, I remember as a kid I got my first TV from comet and funnily enough I'm from Hull so it was a rare point of recognition for my home city, as most people don't even know of it's existence.
Miele are good for a reason. They really are better by design And the build quality is second to none. Do like the look of this one too Roger. Nice example
Nooooo. I have dismantled miele, dyson, shark, bissel, and other brand vacuums and miele's are not the best built or design. Miele are at best just average in quality and the design of miele is poor to average. Miele also tend to design to reduce parts, but that results in fewer but complicated parts that cannot be repaired.
This was very nostalgic for me, as we had this at home when I was a kid. Even more the sound of it turning on and off. And it looks so good in this Miele-red colour. I would have done the same as you if I found this now on my countries' eBay. :)
It’s highly unlikely that Miele will produce another corded upright. They will be launching a new cordless soon as a cheaper alternative to the Triflex.
@@ibaisaic Maybe a Miele from 1995 vs a Miele from 2023/24 video would be interesting. As a fan of all things old or outmoded. I’m always happy to find a vintage item that can out-perform its modem equivalents. P.s. I adore your videos, so relaxing and informative. I purchased a George on your advice and haven’t looked back! Looking at finding a couple of good handhelds for the campervan and the yacht. Possibly a dirt devil of some kind as I had one that my parents used to use in their caravan in the 90s and it was doing it’s duty until last year ! . Thank you again! And keep up the incredible work !!!!!
Nice video roger, Maybe it might help to have realistic resolutions??? Like 1 or 2 vacuums max a month?? I find it helps me alot to be realistic then go from there 😎
Hi Roger, great video as always and what a terrific classic Miele that is, I love the colour. I'm surprised it said it was from 1995 as I didn't think this style was still around then, but maybe it was on the way out.
I have this vacuum's brother, the Miele S256i Black Diamond. Extremely rare vacuum and only sold for a short time. Very few survive today. My poor vacuum I had to save from eBay for $30 and it was abused and run into the ground being used as a garage vacuum and someone has been into it and bodged the motor. I am not sure if its had a motor replaced from some other vacuum or what's going on with it but the button panel doesn't sit fully in the machine anymore and its got power wires criss-crossed to other places running through the vacuum body from inside to outside to back inside again. It's a real heap but I couldn't let it get thrown out with how rare they are.
Until I sell some more vacuums, I only buy vacuums that are extremely special or a rare find, usually only 1 or 2 a month. I don't stop completely, I just save my money for when something really unique comes along - rather than going "ooh ill buy that, ooh ill buy that, and that, and that". Last month I got an antique Premier vacuum from Goodwill for $25, and this month I got a Kirby Heritage II that was only 99c, which I already had but I did not have one with the BPI light, and for this price it was a no brainer. Once I start buying vacuums to restore and resell I can buy just every one I see.
Because everyone always recommends them and people think that's the only vacuum they are allowed to have. They are good but they are $700-$1000 retail and nobody can afford that, so people start looking for the used ones, and then the used Miele market goes through the roof. Even broken ones cost $50+.
Say, are the modern-day Miele attachments (like the swivel-neck bare floor tool modeled SBB 300-3 and the turbohead modeled STB 305-3) compatible with the S228i? If so, then would you please test the cleaning performance of the S228i with the attachments of aforementioned models?
@ibaisaic hey! could you use the QUANTUM X UPRIGHT VACUUM WITH WATER FILTRATION. Introduce? I would find it very exciting. I discovered the vacuum cleaner by accident. Your videos are great, keep it up. Greetings Leon

The S7 was one of your first videos I watched. Just checked and was 10 years ago!

Just pray it doesn't break. The parts are in the triple digits to replace. Miele is like the Mercedes-Benz of vacuums.

This is still a lovely looking machine even now. Great video as always Rog.
miele made a big big mistake scrapping the S7 it was there best ever vacuum cleaner, i had one and i miss it , good machines but !!!!
Yes!!!! I really hope they will bring back revamped version in the future because not everyone wants a canister or cordless vacuum.

The storage lid looks so much better than the modern C3, a lot less flimsy.

In one word - QUALITY.
That’s a silly resolution. Good to have the real you back…! 😂

I always wanted a Meile upright. But Meile vacuums here in the US are insanely expensive, especially the uprights when they were still available

I was the 100th like for your video Roger.
I hope this one doesn’t blow up or catch fire like the beige one you did a video on. lol 😂 😂 😂
is the hose 35mm ? It looks a bit thick and that is positive
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
