I was a 90s kid who went to church, and I remember my pastor barely even knew what Pokemon was despite some of us kids having the games and merch. The man didn't care at all. He saw it as nothing more than a fun hobby that will rot your brain without moderation.

I was born and raised in a free will baptist Christian family, and my family is pretty chill over the content we watch. As long as it’s not porn or horror stuff you’re good. I didn’t grow up with Pokemon (I got into it in the mid 2010s, around the time Pokemon Go was popping off) Pokemon X was my first Pokemon game. Then alpha sapphire, then moon, then Let’s go eevee, then sword. I’m a little behind on my Pokemon stuff, but I do genuinely enjoy the franchise. It’s so wholesome, lighthearted, and fun. I don’t see how anyone can think this is satanic. Satanic panic is a weird thing, like…Relax fam, the media isn’t evil, the evil is somewhere else in the world. Yeah, that is probably a protestant thing, here in Spain there wasn't much backlash against Pokémon if there was any at all, and then in 2001 or around it the Pope stated that Pokémon was a good game that promoted christian values of friendship and team work. And here banning trading cards in schools is pretty common, because every year or 2 there were crazes with new cards, on top of the ever popular football cards, but that is another thing.

The card game is important, but it isn't the main of the franchise. That is the video games. The power sources are the energy cards. That is a blatent ripoff of the mana in Magic the Gathering. Magic the Gathering is in a wierd middleground. It came out when I was a little kid. I was around, but I was way too young. I got into it way later, and now I am a huge fan. I remember when I couldn’t play Pokemon because of this, but my mom finally allowed me to this year. Got Pokemon Shield and Pokemon Scarlet. I do stay true to my beliefs as a Christian though, I don’t use Pokemon like Gengar or Houndoom.
