Sure! You’re vids are part of the reason why I moved into the Fractal ecosystem a couple of years ago. I regularly watch for new ideas, tips and tricks.
Great tip! I was trying it out last night just using the high cut. It's amazing how fast you can find a sweet tone with the Dyna-Cab vs. wading through IR's.
It seems like the same end goal could be achieved with a PEQ late in your chain. Is it materially different from applying an EQ? Maybe dynacabs are just a new interface for shaping EQ?
They're IR's that have been captured using a robotic micing technique. IR's and EQ share some similarities for sure, but they are different from a technical and tonal perspective. You can certainly use either approach to get satisfying results!
@Leon Todd - I have a question about what's actually happening behind the scenes with Dyna-Cabs. I'm assuming that there actually a handful or two of IRs that are being used for a given cab/speaker type, and the Fractal OS is essentially programmed with algorithms that approximate a more-or-less infinite number of physical positions by extrapolating the differences between the underlying IRs. Do you know if that's how this is actually being done? Related - do you know what the implication is for people who like to produce their own IRs when it comes to making them work with the Dyna-Cab interface? Is there like a spec available that we can work under?
They built a mic robot to shoot thousands of individual IR's, so while I imagine there is some interpolation happening it's far more accurate than interpolation between 2 IR's
@@LeonTodd That's very interesting, to say th a least! It sounds like that will raise serious barriers to entry for any 3rd parties that want to create DynaCabs of their own.
I tested the normal beta and I think it sound way better than the ml mikko 2... just did a 3 dB narrow cut in the 2,5 k spectrum and it did sound as good as the york audio irs... the question is, would it be possible to move the mic 360 degrees... or put the Mike at an angle
Those Dynacabs are a glorious new feature. I know we've seen this before in other software but seeing it in action on the axe is so good, going to make things even quicker to dial in!
I just finally updated to the dyna cabs...I haven't had a ton of time to mess with them, but so far to me they sound a little shrill...that could be great if you need to cut through a mix tho!! But I find myself going back to the legacy thing...I like my tones maybe a little too dark.... can anyone weigh in on if they use the dyna cab for live and loud? Or does is sound better with headphones? just curious ...and would appreciate tips...so far everything with the dyna cabs is too bright for me..maybe I need to tune my ears? I dunno
@@LeonTodd Dude thanks so much...I was just a greenhorn on the dyna cabs...thanks for the align tips...that's golden!!! I also slid the align over to the next transient with nice results..!!...I knew there were good tones to be had through it, just had to mess with stuff..I'm so used to fractal just creating the preset that is instantly perfect!! Instant gratification has it's limitations I suppose....thanks for all you do!!
Sounds great. I was under the impression this would not be eligible to work on the FM3 due to memory limitations, but from other comments I’m guessing I’m wrong. Will the Dyna Cab be able to work of the FM3 and FM9 if FAS chooses to incorporate it?
Front view of the speaker would have been a lot better. Not sure why they chose the side view. Better yet a front and a side view of the speaker. I am assuming because of room, but they could just make another page.
Front view looks cooler and closer to real life stuff, BUT this side view is better for mic positioning, since they didn't change mic positions on a vertical axis (whzn facing the cab), only on the horizontal axis. Lots of others software/hardware units (including the Two Notes Torpedo stuff, which i love and use) use the front view, which looks cool, but i wish they used side view like here instead, because it makes mic placement way easier. Best of both worlds would be to have both views (front and side) at the same time.
@@LeonTodd thanks, it seems prior to the new “INPUT CLIPPING!!!” prompt, many users (myself included) were clipping using the default sensitivity (50%).
Anyone want a rundown of the full JVM preset?
Very cool. The preset would be 👍❤
YES!!!!!

Yes, It would be useful. I need that tone for some songs here soon.
Yep!
04:30 that tone is perfect for Alice In Chains "dam that river" and "them bones" riffing :)
Great vid as usual Leon. This is a gamechanger, going through 100s of cabs was a real chore before.

I really appreciate these videos. You are a tone wizard!
Hey legend its time for a new dyna cab video now that they’re out for us plebs!!!
5:32 Agreed that when ms. kitty says "nom" it tiem to go
cool tip man. The align thing really helps
Glad it helped
Hoping it will come to the FM3 as well! 😍
And the FM9 of course.
@@rolandmengedoth2191 For sure! (Y)
Of course it will... just be patient
JVM sounded absolutely killer Leon!
Getting the MV down brings out to life as a chug beast!
Can’t wait to try dyna-cabs!
Yoohoo!
Always helpful, thanks Leon 🎸
My pleasure!
Seems like the best update in a looong time.
What an awesome addition. I can't wait to update my firmware!
Pls show kitty in more vids too!
It's a good'un!
Thank you so much 2112, rock on!!!
You are so welcome!
Wow that Phase alignment makes a huge difference
Magic isn't it
@@LeonTodd Sure is just cant wait for my FM9 arrival and when they Implement this feature on the FM9 ..well hoping :)
Another great tip thank you
Glad it was helpful! The phase alignment tool is very satisfying to play with
01:10 monstrous tone
Thanks for reminding me about how much I like the JVM model!
Alignment is available for FM3 in current version for normal IRs.
Correct. With Dyna-Cabs being a new feature it's also something that's been overlooked in the rush to move virtual mics around.

I want to like dyna cabs but I just can’t seem to get a sound that I like. It always sounds to trebly and bassy at the same time.

@@djabthrash Cab Lab 4 will hopefully scratch that itch.
@@tomashcroft7024 Will look into it, thanks.
Hi, and question what kind of amplifier i mean power cab or even FRFR, do you use with your FM3 when you play live? Thanks
Usually straight into the PA and then in ear monitors for me.
Is moving the phase a good idea? I heard its a bad thing?
Phase can be used as a tool.
If it sounds good in the mix, then it means it's good.
The fredman technique partly relies on phase stuff btw.
What percent is your A/D sensitivity set to?
15% from memory?

All of your demos sound alike, try clean tones so a person can differentiate between them.
