Ex Libris Zoey when ever I get a new book i want to read it right away even if I'm reading another book!😭 I want to read so bad but when ever I try I never want to

“Let’s take him to book jail” 😂😂 love this. I’m currently buying a lot of books but not reading them because I’m overwhelmed by the number of books on my TBR
Zzzeina ThAt shouldn’t have made sense but it made so much sense it hurts😂 Like you just wanna read bUt you’re not really getting into the book or falling in love with it you’re just reading books back to back without really retaining any of the love or appreciation for the sAiD book. (Wow ThAt was long and very aggressive 😂)
suryanshi kalra six freaking hundred? I hope you’re okay lol. My mental sanity would be extinguished if I had that many (I still have over a 100 so it's still really overwhelming lol)
I've been in a reading slump for a year and a half now (still going). I'm studying biomedical sciences at university and my head is too full and too busy that I can't read a book. I still buy books and I can read a few during the summer break but where I used to read multiple books a month I now read 5 books a year (all during summer). I really hate this feeling because I want to read (I love reading) but my head is just too tired. I just hope this passes once I graduate. You hang in there as well! It will probably get better soon! :)
Eline Knetemann Thanks ❤ I hope it will get better for you too 😍 I know how exhausting studying can be and then we can't even lift our arms up, let alone use our brains to imagine worlds and people and everything 😄 I hope you'll be able to read more again soon 💕
I just got out of a reading slump that was almost a year long and now I want to read EVERYTHING. Watching booktube videos made me want to buy and read more books
Melody Guthrie How did you manage?!I have been in a reading slump for over a year and want to read a book so badly but just don't have the motivation and it's so anoyying !
I feel you there. Didn't read anything for years, started reading regularly, got a new job and moved states, didn't read anything for another year and a half. Just got back on the reading wagon again in May. It's been good for me. Not so much for my wallet.
Ela Peaker Honestly I was watching study videos and somehow autoplay took me to booktube. Lol. I didn't even know it was a thing but watching the videos and seeing how excited people were about books made me excited. So then I downloaded an audiobook to listen to at work and started reading a book that I was excited about instead of trying to finish a book I had previously started that really didn't excite me at the moment.
The slump I've been in for about a year now is the "I'm too busy writing my own book to read an actual book" slump...still don't know how to get out of it.
No. 6 “My anxiety sometimes makes me want to read so bad but I actually can’t. I can’t even force myself to read. I want to read but I go into an anxiety attack if I try” slump.
Liv's Books literally the exact opposite I feel like I’ve been reading more since finals have begun ahhh maybe it’s my way of trying to deal with the stress but honestly IT HASNT HELPED IM STILL STRESSED BUT HERE I AM SPENDING TIME READING INSTEAD OF STUDYING
afangirlsbookshelf Honestly same. I-know-I-should-probably-be-studying-but-I-just-*have*-to-know-what's-going-to-happen-next-in-the-book problem is one I just experienced the week before (and it's just my luck to find the most gripping books as finals are near)
I was in a huge reading slump for years but I finally really got back into reading this year. Once I graduated and did my post grad law exams I really just felt like I finally had so much time to dedicate to reading. And then I found booktube and here we are!
Personally I like to listen to audiobooks when I am in a reading slump. I definitely knew about reading slumps before UA-cam. But that's because ever since I was young I have always been pushing myself to read as much as physically possible. I'm a competitive reader but the competition has always been myself. Slumps do happen but I do feel the online book community drags them out. Just read what you want/can. Its not school you aren't being graded. Follow your bliss guys.
Unknown Slytherin Try reading something short and enjoyable that's in a genre that you enjoy. When I was in a reading slump, I grabbed a 100 page book and managed to get through it. Hope my advice helps.
Maybe pick up a light read. Thinking maybe a light hearted contemporary. That's usually what gets me out of slumps and I don't particularly like contemporary.
I had that high after watching Rogue One. It was just... it was so good that it made me feel that nothing, not even books, could ever match up. And [ending happened], so what's the point of going on? Then I found Catalyst: A Rogue One novel.
Sophie the Jedi Knight Did you also reading Rebel Rising? It’s all about Jyn’s backstory that the movie purposefully didn’t include. Also, there’s Guardians of the Whills, which is is all about Baze and Chirrut’s backstory, which was also not included in the movie (Yay Movie DLC!)
I actually have a copy of Rebel Rising on my shelf right now. I'm so looking forward to it. And I wasn't sure if I would pick up Guardians of the Whills at first, but now I difinitely will. Thanks!
Am just now breaking out of a 4+ year reading slump so this video hit hard lol. It was like my brain couldn’t concentrate or connect with the words on the page and reading wasn’t fun anymore. Now with a lot of time on my hands I was binge watching your videos about reading. I had just recently watched a nostalgic Disney movie called Avalon high. And remembering it was based on a book I’m like I wonder if it’s any good. And believe it or not I read 40% of that book in a day and I enjoyed it! Now I’m looking forward to the time I get to read and am excited for the next day when I can read again. Thanks for helping me get out this slump. I can’t wait to read all the books!
what about the "the last book i read punched me right in the feelings and i am too emotionally unstable to invest myself in another story right now" slump?
“Sometimes you need a break from the things you love so you’ll appreciate them more when you get back to them!” This can be related to ALL aspects of life! Especially me with musicals! Because I have a break from listening to a sound track and think I’ve fallen out of love with it because I don’t listen to it as much then I give it another listen/binge and I realise I still love it!! It’s natural to get in a slump and you should never be ashamed! Amen and happy holidays everyone! 😘💕❄️ 🎅🎄🧦
Omg! I am in slump #4. It's so hard for me not finish a book. It's like I like the book but I don't ever want to read it... so I'm picking up another book and hopefully I will get through it
For me sometimes like if I keep reading physical books then I don't wanna do it anymore so what I do is I change the format i listen to audiobooks and when I don't wanna listen to audiobooks I read ebooks, it helps me get over my reading slump
My current slump is honestly totally my fault because it started with just some burn out after I found the other 2 books on a deal in the chaos walking trilogy, but then I found my old copy of Stephen King's long walk and I decided I'd force myself to read it again because my mum was getting into reading and wanted to borrow that book on my next visit and I wanted to read it one more time before I gave it up but because I had no motivation after my first burn out forcing myself to read it made me hate it and then finally, with all of my motivation thoroughly deplited I swore off books for a while until literally 2 days later when my new books came in the mail and I tried to cheer myself up by reading from my favourite author.... It was awful
I’m in a “Every single book sucks because they’re either dumb and cliches or too hard and boring” slump. Obviously not every book sucks, but sometimes it feels like it, I’ve started so much book and ended up not being able to go farther than a few chapters, at this point I’m scared of picking up a book, because I don’t want to buy a book I’ll never finish, or borrow one at the library only to run out of time and having to return it without reading more than a few chapters. That said, when I find a book I actually like, I treasure it so much more.
I feel a lot better after watching this dude! I used to read SO much! one book after the other! Everyone knew me as that girl who always had a book. I loved that aspect of my personality. But then I suddenly just stoped, and I didnt read anything for almost 2 and a half years! I think I stumbled through only 2 books in that time. I just had no focus and no desire to read. For 2 YEARS! But this year I finally found my old spark again, already finished one book and started another. I feel so much better. And I indeed felt that I was a “fake book lover” for a while. 😅 you have an awesome Chanel thank you!
2020 has just been a bad year, especially for my reading. It's like we are getting hit on all sides of us and my brain can't process it fast enough and it's taking a HUGE toll on my reading. I mean I have read, but by now I'd have read a WHOLE LOT MORE.
My slumps are usually ‘I get so so excited with his book that I don’t want it to end so I’ll put it down”. Basically I get too happy to continue read. 😅 is this a weird thing?
When I was reading the Wings of Fire Winglets. Only 125 pages of three short stories. No! By next stopping point, I'll be too much closer to finishing than I want!
I'm currently in the internet reading slump. I spend my time on Quotev or Wattpad more than reading professional authors which really sucks because there's a lot of books I really want to read but I just can't bring myself to do it
Hahaha I've gone through the first type of reading slump recently and it really did make me worry I'm not a real reader etc. It's hilarious thinking about it now. 😂
In the Christmas vacation I am doing sound for a small festival in my city (I'm the sound technician on our schools tech team) and if there's one thing I know for sure, it's that it's a lot of waiting until you get started. We always seem to finish putting cables down really quickly and then you just wait. So I'm excited to bring my books to that, since it will last a week and I've been wanting to finish Anne of Avonlea and glass sword.
Jamie Schuh KEEP GOING THEY GET SO MUCH BETTER!!! I agree clockwork angel is a bit of a slow burn but clockwork prince is a masterpiece U WONT REGRET IT!! 😁
How I get over a reading slump is watching videos about books and Even this one and that get me excited to read so I end up reading. :) I don't think its bad not to read. Just take your time and enjoy whatever your doing and then slowly get back into reading.
Julia I wasnt super impressed w it either but the 2nd book crooked kingdom was really good! I only kept going bc crooked kingdom was for booksplosion and im so glad i did!
I've started reading Six of Crows like three times already and just can't keep reading it and I really want to. I will in time I guess, but everyone says it's so awesome I thought it would be one of those books I start reading and don't leave my room until I finish it... And nope.
OMG THE EXACT BOOK I THOUGHT ABOUT WHILE HE WAS TALKING ABOUT IT BECAUSE SAME!!!!!!! Now I'm having the same trouble with Crooked Kingdom because I keep thinking well maybe I'll like this one better....
Thank you so much for making this video!!!! You're the best!!!! :-) I'm in the 4th slump right now....so it's time to put down this book (my 3rd attempt and I'm just not feeling it....maybe next year??) and instead...reread a series I absolutely miss and love dearly!! :-)
Something that happened to me a year ago was that I was reading a book and I didn’t like it but I kept reading it cause I wanted to finish it but I read so little a day that I didn’t finish the book in like a month lmao
One slump I have often is kind of like the "burnout" slump. When I read to much, I get bored because I feel like I'm reading the same stories sometimes. So it's nice to take a break from reading once in a while and then when II come back to books, my love for reading is sparked anew again.
I am going through the last one. This video is such an eye opener.I just hope I make time for the things I love in life.Afterall nothing matters more than happiness.
I was in a reading slump for a year. I finally got myself back into the reading game and I'm glad I did. I wasn't able to read much. I would read halfway through a book and stop and go onto the next or just give up reading completely. It didn't help things around me were depressing and I was in a spot that really didn't help make me happy either. I guess this was a good change for that
I loved that quick little dramatic moment when explaining a book slump and how quickly you went back to normal. I kept rewinding it haha. The slump that kills me is the one where I don't feel like reading because it will ride out for TOO LONG if I don't tackle it right away. Super relatable 😁.
Oh man, the Reader Burnout Slump is what I went through over the summer. Actually, before summer. I read so many books after another for the first four or five months this year that, by the time May or June came around, I just could not bring myself to read anything. I'd manage one, maybe two at the most, but that was probably my longest reading slump. As for how I got myself out of it? I don't know. I think I just started feeling that pull to my bookshelves again and picked out a book that seemed like something I'd enjoy (which happened to be Tilt by Ellen Hopkins) and started reading a little bit when I had the chance.
I'm in the last one. I honestly feel that I won't be able to read that much until like June 2019. My sixth form gives me a crap ton of work every week! This week I had 2 essays, 2 exam questions and 2 basic bullet point notes (which both took me roughly 45 minutes to do). I feel that I have no time to read...But, I'm trying to find little spaces of time where I can read...It still upsets me that I cannot read as much as I did before, or at the same pace. But I'm happy that I'm still reading, as that is all that matters.
Yes, I experience the second type quite often! Other people read so much when they are on vacation, bc they have so much time, I tend to be overwhelmed by everything! And afterwards it takes a little time before I can really focus on reading. But luckily these slumps never last very long and it isnˋt that bad bc you are having a great time! 😊
I often find that I get into reading slumps due to life just being so busy and when I do get moments to reading, I can't quiet my mind enough to focus. This most often occurs with novels so, my strategy to get over it is to just read a lot of poetry books or really short easy reads. It always makes me feel accomplished and prepared to read a longer novel.
Loved this! Gone through all of them. I get stuck in: Can't pick which of my favourite series sequels to read reading slump, don't read because of the pressure reading slump. Or just read stand alones and never finish series.
@2:48 this one happened to me with Game of Thrones. My friends all loved the series and was trying to convince me to watch it, but that's a lot of seasons and I wasn't willing to watch all those seasons if I didn't like the premise. So I picked up the book at my school's bookstore and tried reading it over break. The characters themselves were interesting enough, but I found the plot so boring and bland that I couldn't get through it. Normally I have a policy that if a book hasn't grabbed my attention in 100 pages I put it away, but I had started to care about the characters (just not anything going on around them) so I forced myself to read the whole darn thing, and by the time I finished I never wanted to look at another book again. (Note: I still haven't watched the HBO show.)
My last reading slump was sooo long... it started like after summer and ended just a week ago. I heard about the mortal instruments (yeah I know I’m hopping late on that train.) but somehow I was so excited that I bought all six of them. I’m through 4 and I AM LOVING IT. It was about time to get out of that reading slump.
The best thing for reading slumps i find is that go-to series, preferably in a different format. Too much paperback? Audiobook and try not to recite every word and not scream when the reader switches words or something. Then i read a few e-book, then pick up the paper again. This year im alternating fic and non-fic that can also help cause it keeps my mind more active when reading and stops me crashing through a loved series and feeling like its all too much after
My most recent reading slump is the "I want to read but I don't feel like reading". I had it for less than a year and I literally only read a few books here and there. It was the worst feeling. But I had an urge to take out a trilogy from my "unread books" section and fell in love with it. Now I'm back to reading again!
The "life is too good for fiction" slump has only happened once to me and that was during my trip to America. I bought plenty of books there, but didn't start reading them because I was so excited to explore this different country. So I didn't read for a month.
Reading slumps can happen to anyone. While in a reading slump it is hard to remember that and it can be a little disheartening the longer the reading slump takes place. It’s good to be nice to yourself and give yourself some space. I personally enjoy reading graphic novels when i feel a slump coming on.
Number 5 is me right now. I hate it! I’ve been wanting to finish Renegades and One Dark Throne but im just so swamped with work I can’t! 😭 thank you for putting all of those into words though because I’ve experienced all of them. lol. Have a great day Jesse!!!
Some of these types combine with each other as well! I just recently got out of a reading slump (don't know which type it was :P) and I think the best way to get over it is just to take a break from reading as long as you need :) I didn't even watch any booktube videos (of filmed one :/) and now I love reading and watching book videos again :)
I'm in the middle of a book slunp right now, but that's primarily due to just having finished a super awesome book that I was really into and I'm still not over it yet. Still waiting for that to subside a bit before I try a different book.
I have currently been in one for a year now. And its been the saddest year for me because i wanted to read so bad but every time i would pick up a book my mind was like you said "nope" but thankfully it looks like im coming out from it and im curre tly reading "The Hobbit" 😊 Booktube content really helped me to get out of it because it reminded how fun reading is, etc.
I hate reading slumps so much... i was in such a long one (almost two years long!!!😱) and i started watching your videos and you brought be back to reading and I’m so happy!😭😂 thank you Jesse!!
The fourth reading slump is the one im going through right now and im so confused because i thought i would love the book im reading but i dont even want to read because of it.... but im forcing myself to finish it because deep down somewhere in the chapters im hoping something will draw me in. lol lets hope PS, Jesse i love your channel and videos! Keep up the good work!
I went through a year and a half long reading slump a few years back. I went through a pretty traumatic family experience and just couldn't focus on a book to save my life. It finally just faded though and eventually I was able to start reading again. These things happen I suppose. Reading slumps are definitely normal even if sometimes guilt inducing.
I sort of went through the life is too good for fiction slump back in April. I had just started dating my boyfriend and so I was more focused on enjoying my time with him, and so reading and book blogging sort of got pushed aside for a few weeks. But what is great is that my boyfriend and I can talk about books and movies and manga and anime and TV shows together. And he totally understands when I need to have reading time or blogging time. When that happens we end up just sitting on the couch together and he'll either play some video games or he'll read too.
Busy reading slump is me a lot of the time, and it makes me so sad, because before going to high-school I read so much but now I only have time to read the books I have to read for school and my list of books I want to read is sooooo long
I feel like I get the Reader Burn-out Slump most often, especially after a readathon! I recently participated in the ReadathonbyZoe and read 2 1/2 books in a day, and haven't felt like picking anything else up since! Fortunately for me, this type of slump usually goes away fairly quickly!
A weird sorta slump I am kind of experiencing right now is the “I am excited to read but I want to start new books and not my current read” It is the worst. I feel guilty about not finishing my books but also why feeling guilty at all? Why are we putting so much pressure on ourselves?
Charlotte Lupin I know what you mean. I hate dnf-ing books and then I want to read another book and I'm not the type of reader who reads multiple books at once so I force myself to finish the book I'm currently reading and then put myself in an awful reading slump 😩
I will sometimes, if I loose interest in a book, read it off to the side, like force myself through one or so chapters a day, and then read something I really want to read as my main read.
I'm always on a high after conventions and medieval markets. Just gotta live in that world for at least another week. Also I've been in a reading slump since September which makes sense seeing as that is were I started my first ever full time job after I graduated this year. And I seriously started watching wrrestling to get through my finals and haven't stopped since. It's only gotten worse and I only got so much time for one hobby 😅
After I read a book, the rest of the day I don't pick up a new one until the next day or the day after that to absorb the book I just finished and not IMMEDIATELY have a new one playing in my mind (and heart). It gives me a chance to return to reality if only for a day or two.
I recently experienced the "High on life" Slump. I had never experienced it before! It's been my dream to go to Disney World and My husband took me for the first time as an early Christmas Gift and the entire time I planned our trip I just couldn't focus on reading!
Very interesting! I am experiencing one right now. I realize that often, it’s because I push myself to read the books I already own. So maybe allowing myself to read the new releases might be a good trick :)
You're so right when you said reading slump is something created by online communities. I personally thing it's ineffective to force yourselves to read. Let yourself want to read books instead of forcing yourself. It works better!
What about the I-don't-know-what-to-read-I-wanna-read-everything-but-I-don't-wanna-read-anything-Slump?
Charlie Theis THATS THE WORST ONE
Currently having this problem like honestly!!!
How about the I'm in the middle of the last book in a trilogy but I just got a new book and I really want to read it too slump
I'm really bad at naming things
Same. Every time.
Ex Libris Zoey when ever I get a new book i want to read it right away even if I'm reading another book!😭 I want to read so bad but when ever I try I never want to
Is it possible to be in all types at once because that’s me rn
A Clockwork Reader lol hannah same
I love you!
A Clockwork Reader so true, but I am feeling the first one more
A Clockwork Reader yes

Annedrie literally this is the reason for most of my slumps
A really long book hangover..
I was waiting for this one the whole time! My #1 reading slump cause!!
Yes! I totally relate! It’s like you’re still in that world and it won’t let ya go!
Me after reading Harry Potter XD
No 6: The " I should read this book for school but I don't want to, but I cant read anything else because I feel like I should be reading the one assigned for school" slump
Im not good with titles.
anna tzioti YES
This is the title of my life at the moment 😂 Worst reading slump
When I have to do reading for school I'm always like okey I'll do one reading session for school and one reading session in the book that I'm reading and that does help to get through boring school books 😊
Ugh that's me, then I don't read the book assigned, then the teacher gives us another book to read, and I still can't read anything else because I feel guilty of not reading the book I'm supposed to. What. A. Life.
veerle weymeers except when we finish a book we have another one to read right away 😞
or the "I just read the best book ever and any other book I pick up will suck in comparison" slump
yes, i didn't even think of that one when making this video! it's totally happened to me though.
Exactly how I feel right now 🥺
Me right now cause I just read Simon vs the Homo sapiens agenda and now and I loved it 😂
The 'everyone is loving this book so i'm probably going to love it too oh no I'm not loving it why am I not loving it i'm gonna force myself to finish it" slump
*A catchy name*
The Theorist that's exactly what I thought too
Me with the entire Mortal Instruments series tbh
It's definitely turtles all the way down lol
yass!!!
Me with throne of glass
The worst reading slump is when you read a book you dearly loved and everything after it just feels meh to you.
Omg, that is true
After reading reading Harry potter at age 13 every other book just felt horrible compered to it. Then I tried the Hero of Olympus which were a blessing to me at age 14, but after that I just couldn't seem to get back into my reading game. So after almost a year I am going to try and force myself out of this slum
Omg that’s me right now after Kenji Kishimoto’s novella bind up!! Every book I’m reading lately is so “meh”
Zayna mooooood
The first book of Renegades for me. I don't even know why I love it so much but I do lol
“Let’s take him to book jail” 😂😂 love this. I’m currently buying a lot of books but not reading them because I’m overwhelmed by the number of books on my TBR
lol same
YASSS! THANK YOU! I have such a huge TBR ( more than 600) so I am like what to read first! Lol
Zzzeina ThAt shouldn’t have made sense but it made so much sense it hurts😂 Like you just wanna read bUt you’re not really getting into the book or falling in love with it you’re just reading books back to back without really retaining any of the love or appreciation for the sAiD book. suryanshi kalra i remember when I would LOOK for books to read because I had NO tbr but now I do and it’s sO LoNg ( i MeAn not as long as 600 but 😂)
suryanshi kalra six freaking hundred? I hope you’re okay lol. My mental sanity would be extinguished if I had that many (I still have over a 100 so it's still really overwhelming lol)
If you don't know what a reading slump is, you're the luckiest son of a b*tch in the world. xD
Maelleth... Or the unluckiest. What about those who don't read!? They don't know what their missing out on :)
PhoKnight nigga
PhoKnight True...
You called me
Who's in a reading slump right now? Cause same
I've been in a reading slump for a year and a half now (still going). I'm studying biomedical sciences at university and my head is too full and too busy that I can't read a book. I've only read 4 books this year because!! :(
J Tmplz Noo 😭 I hope you'll be able to read more soon
Nicole Moon I just went through #4 in a reading slump. As soon as I finished it and saw a short story added, I said "No, THANKS"
I just got out of a reading slump that was almost a year long and now I want to read EVERYTHING. Watching booktube videos made me want to buy and read more books
Melody Guthrie CONGRATULATIONS!! (Is that the right word????) 😂😂
Omg same xD I havent read a book for 2 years and last month i bought half bad and it got be hooked again.
I know the feel of the reading slump, it's awefull, but isn t it the best feeling in the world when you finish the first book after a reading slump
Britt Loos. AMEN TO THAT! :)
have you ever hit your head while you do the intro? :))
I get lightheaded just watching him do it
LOL
This-Tiffany i would
Bella Novela same
I would probably hit myself ten times before I manage to do it lol
I keep forgetting that you reorganized your book shelf and every time I see it I get SHOOK
The slump I've been in for about a year now is the "I'm too busy writing my own book to read an actual book" slump...still don't know how to get out of it.
Rain Lathrop CONGRATULATIONS ON WRITING A BOOK THO!! I really hope to do that one day 🙂🙂
"If you don't have time to read, you don't have time to write." - Stephen King
One word. #RELATABLE. Hands Down.
No. 6 “My anxiety sometimes makes me want to read so bad but I actually can’t. I can’t even force myself to read. I want to read but I go into an anxiety attack if I try” slump.
This is me rn
I feel soooooo guilty during reading slumps 😂😭
Also great video as always, you surely add a lot of things to the booktube community 💙
That last reading slump is me right now with finals 😭
Liv's Books literally the exact opposite I feel like I’ve been reading more since finals have begun ahhh maybe it’s my way of trying to deal with the stress but honestly IT HASNT HELPED IM STILL STRESSED BUT HERE I AM SPENDING TIME READING INSTEAD OF STUDYING
afangirlsbookshelf Honestly same. I-know-I-should-probably-be-studying-but-I-just-*have*-to-know-what's-going-to-happen-next-in-the-book problem is one I just experienced the week before (and it's just my luck to find the most gripping books as finals are near)
yes yes yes! exactly omg luckily my last exam is tomorrow and then i'm freeee
SAME I have 7 finals in two days next week and I'm drowning in stress
Rissy Roooh 7 in 2 days?? I can't even imagine. Good luck!!
I was in a huge reading slump for years but I finally really got back into reading this year. Once I graduated and did my post grad law exams I really just felt like I finally had so much time to dedicate to reading. And then I found booktube and here we are!
And I will also add the "I have so many amazing sequels and I don't know what to read first" reading slump!
Draw a random title from a hat.
I'm in a huge reading slump.
I've been in one for a few months
SAVE MEEEEEEEEEEEE
Unknown Slytherin Try reading something short and enjoyable that's in a genre that you enjoy. When I was in a reading slump, I grabbed a 100 page book and managed to get through it. Hope my advice helps.
The outsiders
A book that got me put of a slump was The Raven Boys. You might like it. Or pick up an old favorite.
Maybe pick up a light read. Thinking maybe a light hearted contemporary. That's usually what gets me out of slumps and I don't particularly like contemporary.
audiobooks??
After a reading slump do you just like read 500 books in two days?
Woah I'm A Red Panda how is that possible? Lol
Yeeeessssss
How is dis possible?😱
I wish. It would be a dream come true
(But let's pretend we do)
I had that high after watching Rogue One.
“Sometimes you need a break from the things you love so you’ll appreciate them more when you get back to them!”
This can be related to ALL aspects of life!
or the reading slump where you finish a phenomenal series and every other book BURNS your eyes
Omg! I am in slump #4. It's so hard for me not finish a book. It's like I like the book but I don't ever want to read it... so I'm picking up another book and hopefully I will get through it
Been there, done that 😂#relatable
For me sometimes like if I keep reading physical books then I don't wanna do it anymore so what I do is I change the format i listen to audiobooks and when I don't wanna listen to audiobooks I read ebooks, it helps me get over my reading slump
Let’s not forget the “ the only book I want to read right now is the one I didn’t buy and now I regret all my life decisions up to this point” slump
*likes video before watching* ... I love your content so much Jesse, thanks for brightening my day with this video!
The colors of your books on your bookshelf now is so much more grown up! So proud!!!!
i needa know the hyped book you didn't like O.O
this was a great video!
emmmabooks it's Turtles All The Way Down
I’m in a “Every single book sucks because they’re either dumb and cliches or too hard and boring” slump.
2:46 You're talking about Turtles All the Way Down, aren't you? It's okay. We forgive you. You do not have to love every John Green book ever.
yep
jessethereader FANGIRLING YOU RESPONDED FEELS
Sorry. Had to get that off my chest.
Mood
@@jessethereader well, it wasn't that good. It's like his usual writing style had a fever.
I'm in a reading slump right nowwww 😭😭😭
Zoe Ghost SAME GURRLLL
SAAAAAMEEEEEEEE 😂😭
Zoe Ghost Same. Don't worry, we'll work through this together. READERS UNITE!!!!
2020 has just been a bad year, especially for my reading. It's like we are getting hit on all sides of us and my brain can't process it fast enough and it's taking a HUGE toll on my reading. I mean I have read, but by now I'd have read a WHOLE LOT MORE.
I just came out of a major slump
and currently I'm in a mini slump in the middle of a book
aaarrrrrraaaaaahhhhhh
'Sometimes in life, you need a break from things that you love in order to appreciate why you love that said thing." Beautifully said Jesse! ❤️❤️
My slumps are usually ‘I get so so excited with his book that I don’t want it to end so I’ll put it down”. Basically I get too happy to continue read. 😅 is this a weird thing?
Coli Tamb nope, happens to me too
When I was reading the Wings of Fire Winglets.
So I'm excited to bring my books to that, since it will last a week and I've been wanting to finish Anne of Avonlea and glass sword.
number 4 is me trying to get through clockwork angel lol
i'm hoping it does not continue for the rest of TID
It gets so so much better and is one of my favorites!!!
Sometimes I want to read like 30 books at once and I can't read it without thinking about the next book to read slump
I've been in a 'I don't feel like reading' slump for 3 months and it's so horrible!!!
number four happened to me with six of crows. i really thought I was going to like it and was so disappointed.
Julia I wasnt super impressed w it either but the 2nd book crooked kingdom was really good! I only kept going bc crooked kingdom was for booksplosion and im so glad i did!
Julia same I didn't like it
I've started reading Six of Crows like three times already and just can't keep reading it and I really want to.
Now I'm having the same trouble with Crooked Kingdom because I keep thinking well maybe I'll like this one better....
your video has brightened my morning up! thank you :) and yeah, guilt for not reading enough is so familiar...
The only reading slump I like is the one where you just keep watching book tube videos and you basically consider that reading.
Thank you so much for making this video!!!! You're the best!!!! :-) I'm in the 4th slump right now....so it's time to put down this book (my 3rd attempt and I'm just not feeling it....maybe next year??) and instead...reread a series I absolutely miss and love dearly!! :-)
Agh, I’ve been days with out reading. It’s fine.
*then I turned one*
Something that happened to me a year ago was that I was reading a book and I didn’t like it but I kept reading it cause I wanted to finish it but I read so little a day that I didn’t finish the book in like a month lmao
THIS SAME HAPPENED TO ME!! But today I caved in at 61%. Now I’m finna read a book I like 😩
Jesse notification, I'm here!!!!
One slump I have often is kind of like the "burnout" slump. When I read to much, I get bored because I feel like I'm reading the same stories sometimes. So it's nice to take a break from reading once in a while and then when II come back to books, my love for reading is sparked anew again.
I'M THE FIRST LIKER UH HOW
I am going through the last one. This video is such an eye opener.I just hope I make time for the things I love in life.Afterall nothing matters more than happiness.
I'm MAKING myself not read so in case I get books for christmas I won't already have them :')
I'm almost dead. I don't think I can make it
Julia 😲 reading this hurt my soul lol i could never do that!
I guess this was a good change for that
your cassandra clare books look so good in this angle
I loved that quick little dramatic moment when explaining a book slump and how quickly you went back to normal. I kept rewinding it haha. The slump that kills me is the one where I don't feel like reading because it will ride out for TOO LONG if I don't tackle it right away. Super relatable 😁.
Yup i totally agree… it is okay sometimes to not to read the book
"What-up reader fam" You just made my day. Thank you. You're great♡♡ and I genuinely love your content!!!
I’ve been in a reading slump for multiple years and I can’t get out of it, I don’t know what to do
You can read a book that’s so good that it gets you out a reading slump. What type of genre do you like?
Wow, so many videos in so littel time. these videos make me happy so thank you Jesse!
Wait wait wait i wanna know the book you were talking about! I love hearing about differing opinions!
"Because obviously no one cares." I love jesse so much
I have currently been in one for a year now. And its been the saddest year for me because i wanted to read so bad but every time i would pick up a book my mind was like you said "nope" but thankfully it looks like im coming out from it and im curre tly reading "The Hobbit" 😊
Booktube content really helped me to get out of it because it reminded how fun reading is, etc.
It been years since I read. Just started again yesterday and finished 2 books in 2 days. So happy to be back
You're so right when you said reading slump is something created by online communities. I personally thing it's ineffective to force yourselves to read. Let yourself want to read books instead of forcing yourself. It works better!
