- Nick Sheridan, a renowned presenter for BBC Scotland, passed away after a brief battle with illness.
On Thursday morning, the presenter made the announcement that he had passed away at the age of 32 in a message that was published on X.
At the time of his arrival at BBC Scotland in 2018, he had already presented a number of shows, including as Reporting Scotland, Drivetime, and the Nine and Seven Days.
He was a "wonderful colleague to those of us who have worked with him since he joined BBC Scotland in 2018," said Gary Smith, the head of news at BBC Scotland.
He continued by saying, "He was a tremendously talented journalist, presenter, and author, and he was one of those exceptional individuals who has the ability to brighten the lives of everyone around them." Funny, intelligent, and charitable. He is a very kind man.
"Our hearts go out to his parents, who have been with him over the past ten days, to his partner, Lewis, and to all the rest of his family and friends."
While beginning his weekly question session in the chamber of the Scottish Parliament, First Minister Humza Yousaf paid tribute to Sheridan, describing him as a "extremely talented journalist and author." Sheridan was a prolific author and journalist.
Another statement made by Mr. Yousaf was, "He will be greatly missed." Whether it was on BBC Drivetime or on many of the other programmes that he hosted, Nick will have challenged a good number of us in this room, and he will have done so in a very forceful manner.
My thoughts are with his family, his many friends, and his coworkers. I am sorry for anything that has happened. There is no doubt that they will be going through a really difficult moment.
Sheridan has been employed in the field of broadcasting for more than a decade. He was originally from Wexford, which is located in Ireland.
Prior to coming to the main newsroom, where he worked on the foreign affairs desk, he had previously spent two years reporting and presenting RTE News2day, the young person's news programme for Ireland's national broadcaster. During that time, he had also been a broadcaster.
