    Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge with us. My wife and I have a desire to grow microgreens. We just bought the shelves today. And need to get the rest of supplies to start growing. We will start small and scale from there. Keep up the great work.

      i just got my labels, you would be AMAZED what the UPS store can do!!!!!! sounds crazy but true!!! 1000 for 64 bucks plus 42 bucks for them to graphic design it. just draw a rough draft of what you want. then 64 bucks every time you want 1000 more... Un-f#kin believable

    I've been thinking about growing microgreens since last spring because of you. I hope I take the leap eventually.

      You know, the minimum you need to grow microgreens is some used casseroles/trays/plastic-containers from buying foods, some dirt or potting soil (or normal soil you have from growing flowers or even some dirt you get from the countryside), a window, and optionally a piece of cardboard to which to scotch-tape tinfoil to get more sunlight onto the microgreens. Oh, and a spray bottle, which can be reused from a windows-washing solution (i.e. Windex). Or you could use paper napkins (the really-cheap extra-thin ones, so the seeds can sprout through them) to keep them moisturized when germinating. After a few weeks of get used to growing microgreens to various stages and from various seeds, you can pick your favorites and grow from there.
      What I mean by casseroles/trays from buying foods? You know those clam-shells casseroles, or those less-than-few-inches-tall containers which are used to package foods in supermarkets? You can wash them and use them for growing microgreens. Search on youtube "microgreens grow casserole" and look for the thumbnails which show those casseroles.
      Realistically, your biggest expense could be getting seeds. And making small batches means you don't need to worry about them if you don't like how they taste, because you can use them all in a single meal or you can throw them away without being a huge loss. You can also use those to see if people are interested in microgreens in your area, since they realistically might not be. And you could instead turn to growing strawberries in your house in the middle of the winter instead. I mean, you need the heat for yourself either way, and you could get a nice price on strawberies as well, especially in the dead-middle of winter.
      I wish he would do a video or two on $10 or even $5 microgreens growing kit. Not for a business operation, but to see if you like microgreens enough to start growing them yourself, or to get experience with growing them before buying more equipment, or to simply supplement your diet, especially since many people are strapped for cash and are trying to save money to not get evicted or in case they do get evicted (which goes in the #vanlife , #carlife and #tinyhouse territory, for possible solutions).

      Hi! Just wanted to say that you could google that, since there is not only research on growing microgreens in different areas of the world (you might even find some about growing microgreens in India), but also research on growing normal plants which often include the ideal conditions for the first weeks of growth for plants. Also, not only the temperature matters, but also the humidity. For example, I know india is quite humid (high air humidity), so plants locally grown in India might be more resilient to high humidity conditions. Also, other microgreens sellers in your country might have already found what the best choices for growing microgreens is in your country, so you could try to see what their setups are and see if you can replicate the conditions even if just for testing.

    Hi Nate 😄 can l use normally led light?

    • @SapioiT
      @SapioiT 3 роки тому +1

      Yes, you can. You might get slower growth, depending on the LED lights. It depends on a lot of things, really. If you already have LED lights, try using those. And you could try googling the model of LED lights you're using and add the word "microgreens" to the search terms, to see if there are other people comparing the LED lights you have to other lights. You can also search on youtube "microgreens led lights vs". On The Grow has a few videos on the subject.

    Do you sanitize your seeds? Didn't get into the webinar 😭

    • @SapioiT
      @SapioiT 3 роки тому +1

      I think sanitizing the seeds could kill them, or at least create problems or make the food less healthy, or even possibly poisonous. Well, it also depends on the seeds, since, for example, sunflowers have that protective shell around them which would make the absorption of chemicals into the core more difficult. But I don't think one should sanitize the seeds. Only the trays, and possibly the sprouts at half a day after unstacking and watering them (so they don't soak in those chemicals).

    • @jsea8987
      @jsea8987 5 років тому

      I am wondering about this as well. With the advances in LED tech over the past few years, I would think that T5s should be inefficient in comparison. But I am by no means an expert.
