- The "unknown" gaelic verse is an unofficial verse added to the song by the singer Douglas McLean, who unfortunately passed away in late 2017. Nowhere could his lyrics be found and the secret may have died with him.

I came for the unknown Gaelic verse. I'm not a native speaker of Scottish Gaelic, and this translation is very bad. However, the gist that I get is that it is about how Scotland is wounded and refuses to "rise up", and instead chooses to die rather than relive old glory. Gaelgeorí please correct me!
I tried to use the context of the rest of the song(from the perspective of soldiers at Bannockburn) but I couldn't get it to fit. The phonetic sound of the verse matches the singer, so you can sing along even if the translation is a bit off

The unknown Gaelic verse has something about a "King Edward" and "rising up for Scotland" or something idk I only have a bit of Scottish ancestry in my family and thus am not exposed to a lot of Gaelic
(Scot here) i like our nat anthem but the one thing that I think would make it even better would be if it was sung completly in Scottish Gaelic (like the welsh/irish anthems being sung in their native languages)
