THAT LOOKS LIKE IT WOULD BE BEYOND THE MOST UNHOLIEST OF PAINFUL EXPIRIENCES.. WITH A RECOVERY TIME THAT WOULD SEEM LIKE AN ETERNITY... I FEEL FOR ANYONE WHO HAS HAD TO DO THIS OR HAS TO FACE THIS AS THEIR ONLY OPTION... GOD BLESS U...
If your bite is this messed up, surgery is a small price to pay for a lifetime of proper jaw alignment. It's just like any other broken bone. Hardly any pain, and the swelling is almost completely gone within 10 days. Done it.
@Alejandromichael84 The surgery costs most people $15,000. However, most insurances cover the cost of this surgery, since it is not cosmetic. Don't let the cost of the surgery deter you from having it done. Even if I had to pay 20 grand, I'd still do it. I have BCBS and it covered 100% of the surgery, except for a nominal co-pay of $350. Braces are where the real money is spent, since insurance often does not cover the full cost of braces.
@mewmewisabella Some cases require an orthognatic surgery or else their teeth (both jaws) cannot match decently and thus brings difficulty in chewing. This surgery can also be used to fix sleep apnea depending on the patient (it requires the lower jaw to be moved).
looks good. Is it really possible to remove that smaller wedge to impact the maxilla accurately? I need a wedge like that only added in to lengthen the maxilla vertically since my last surgery impacted it and it was short anyway and now gives me a deep bite and no tooth show.
Hello, I know this must have been quite a long time ago. But Have you done the second surgery to lengthen the maxilla vertically? If yes how did it go? because I have exactly the same issue and will probably need a second surgery. Did you have to use implants as a wedge or what exactly?
@@gyasalmahayni5869 hey! Nope. But I have a good looking beard and got married. No pain or cracking for a long time at least, but my front teeth still can't touch. I've gotten used to it I guess. Life got a lot better in my late 20s though.
@@flik221 I probably have exactly the the same issue as you. Only my molars can touch, everything else can't. I can chew everything pretty much perfectly, but I can't bite anything to save my life lol. I somehow manage to eat apples, burgers, sandwiches and everything that involves biting though, I'm fairly good looking despite this issue and I don't have any pain, so I'm wondering if this gory surgery is worth it at all, because I will be able to survive like this no problem (I've been living like this since about 13 years old, I'm 22 now), but the idea of having normal jaw and teeth and looking even better is really tempting though, even after seeing how bloody this surgery is.
@Peanutblood my teeth dont line up..one jaw is bigger than the other and sugery is a LAST resort. I'm getting my braces off in a month or so so i guess I'll find out if I need it..
Holy shit! my dentist says that i need this surgery in about 1 year :O But here in Denmark is it free to get health surgerys, so the state pay the bill :P
@@janexian9232 My jaw was messed up (a combination of underbite & crossbite) and they had to wait for my bones to stop changing (I was still a child at the time they put on the braces) to have the surgeries. I am now without braces although my teeth still need work. I ended up having them on for 7 years total and I still wear a retainer at night.
@@RawrCrazyTsuki I’m so sorry to hear that. I’ve been wearing braces for almost three years now and literally can’t wait to take them off. Three years already feels like eternity to me.

That's my jaw. Exactly. Thats my type of jaw. It so awful and it's getting me ugly because of my jaw. Im suffering.

What about those newly formed sharp edges of jaw bone?
The gap fills with new bone, amd edge becomes smoothier
Great, I think I need this.
Still need that?

I have needed this surgery since I was 16 (Im 25 now) Jaw aches and pains all the time, I can't bite anything, and I have no insurance. Life sucks.

did you do this surgery? I am also offered to do it for next year
it's over
What do they do with the extra bit of cheese shaped bone
I find it unsettling that until they set it, surgeons can basically float around your jaw both upper and lower wherever they see fit.
sometimes braces don't work aka. like me i need to have both jaws sawed and then realigned.
@mewmewisabella I had this and Im fine. Im glad that I had it!
U still alive?
@mewmewisabella braces for 4 years doesnt quite work in someone with a very sever underbite. Sometimes surgery is necessary
im having this exact procedure
