They're such crooks, worst than lawyers. I had a 1999 Expedition, the steering was really loose, like dangerously loose. Took it to a tire place, the shop manager told me it was my "front struts and inner and outer tie rods".. told me it would be $1800! Little did he know I had just replaced all of that 12 months prior, caught him red handed. He refused to believe me and even wanted to take me out to my vehicle and show me how "bad they were", I was like "no sir, those parts were put on correctly and I know how long they last." So I told him to just take it down off the lift, turns out it was a $45 pitman arm that I was able to replace in a couple hours myself.
I was just told by an alignment shop that to replace my rear struts on my 2006 Focus SE they would have to pull the rear seat out, take the back window glass out to change the rear struts! Is he lying?
@@jeremyjames249 he was talking about the struts (springs) and I see that the rear strut top mounts cannot be accessed through the trunk. The rear shocks can be accessed through the trunk though but he made it sound like he couldn’t replace the rear shocks without removing those rear springs. I will have to have my local tire guy look to see if he can replace the rear shocks without having to take out those rear springs.
I did them already, just a tip that might help other guys, I scrap off the pain from the bottom and lubricanted to make it go in better from the bottom 😁 and it worked just fine!! Keep up the good videos 👍🏼
overall a good video...nothing got torqued however and for the time and $$, should have just replaced the sway links...they are a wear item, rarely get replaced, had to half way remove and they are probably less than $20.00 each...just my opinion of course...
Light but, if it was on your focus that the wheel came off it was not your fault, I just had mine come off for the second time and I had already put new threads so it is not that and I am trying to figure out why the shop couldn't see anything either. So, the shop is putting struts and shocks on front and going to do alignment so we will see.
With those rear shocks you don't even have to remove the rear wheels. Just raise the car and you can get access to that one 15mm bolt with the wheel still on.
Made it simple just bought these for 2009 focus, did find body of mummified baby possum, I thought it was my girlfriend for 2 mths she thought it was me till smell went away search whole inside of vehicle never found anything, who would have thought the trunk & how.
Sway bar links are 37 lb/ft for both. 18 lb/ft on the top three strut tower nuts, 66 lb/ft for the pinch bolt. Rear shock is 85 lb/ft for the lower bolt, 37 lb/ft for the upper nut.
Helping this 20 year old save a lot of money, thanks for the video. Did my shocks the other day, fun stuff haha.
Thanks for this video , I couldn’t find an American Ford Focus replacement video
I really appreciate the video. You've got a great attitude, simple instructions, just excellent.
Awesome vid, just did my 06 Focus struts and shocks because of this video! Paid $300 for parts when the local mechanic wanted to charge $1200!!

@@sharong8841 100% lying, rear shocks are unbolted through the trunk and should only take maybe 20minutes per shock
@@sharong8841 did you tell the mechanic to F off?! That’s what I would’ve done

THANK U VERY HELPFUL
Will the car require an alignment after replacing the shocks?

is this similar to a 2009? I cant find a video for it anywhere.
Wondering the same!

What? No torque specs!
66ft-lbs on pinch bolt. 16ft-lbs on top 3 strut mount bolts. for the sway bar link just get tight.

Wheels 99 ft-lbs
Hehe splooge
Monroe is garbage , I'll compress spring Ford struts pretty cheap price , better quality.
Maybe the customer was on a tight budget
Too much talking just do the job
PUTS IN REAR CHINA-CRAP-SHOCKS. I used Ford parts came with all new hardware. About $49 per shock well worth quality/longevity.
