This is a video I created. And edited. Poorly but still. It is not the most popular video. Or the channel. I'm not PewDiePie. Or Mr. Beast. Or those crazy guys from Dude Perfect. I'm not popular as Minecraft channels. Popular as Lego channels. Not even close to Dice Tower. Or Man vs Meeple. Or Shut Up & Sit Down. But I still do it. Why? Because I love it. And this is a fun attempt to get more recommended by using key words like names of popular UA-camrs or channels. I'm not sure if this will work. As I said it is a fun experiment. And filming these videos is fun. Reviews. Painting videos. Gameplay. All of it. Now when I think about it, I should start the second channel dedicated to Lego. Hmmm...anyway, we'll see if this will help me boost my channel. If not, ah well. It was a fun try.

I'm not entirely sure, but I'm willing to bet the events you have were from the first 2 expansions - Kings Guard and Undead Samurai. In addition to adding new citizen and monster decks, I'm pretty sure those added the first events that we saw in the game 🙂
You are correct. I checked back later, they came with the mini expansion.
Thank you for comparing the two versions of the game and sharing your thoughts on it. Just what I needed to know about it and if it's worth buying.
Glad I could help out. I do these types of videos more and more lately. Lot's of people found it helpful when I did it first time, so why stop...right... :)
I got the second edition and the new content from the new KS along with the big storage box. So I had to sort out all the expansion stuff from the original box into the new storage box and will be selling my 1st edition. I like the wooden components of the first but the tracker is way easier to use. I am also happier it will be cheaper for people to get into because it really is a great game!
Everything you said. Agreed. And I'm really eager to start that Darksworn campaign and see what it does with the game. Turning it from competitive to cooperative sounds really interesting and different.
@@LifeofaBoardGamer They are adding a campaign to the game.. That sounds very interesting, sounds a bit like what Hero Realms did with their game.. :D
@@dachivale5319 something like that. I have not had time to go through the rules yet to tell you more. But I plan to film entire campaign as a gameplay series of videos. :)

You seem like a great streamer and are very gentle and reply.. one of the things that mostly gets me to join a person.. cause many just don't reply.. It's a shame.. I do get when someone gets to many followers it gets difficult to answer everything.. But I always appreciate when someone does.. ;)
Hope the campaign version is fun.. I know my wife and I enjoyed the Hero realms one.. Even if they can feel a bit short compared to other games.. ^^

Regarding campaign, it is going to be pre-recorded and published entirely on the Patreon (Netflix style), then slowly released into the wild. Currently on the schedule is Eila and something Shiny campaign and the end of 'Eternal Grudge - Season 2' I film with my friend. We are preparing to start film Valeria campaign.

Thanks for the share, appreciated that you took the time to show the differences.. Have been playing this games 1st edition pretty much since it was available in my country and it's a great game.. Good fun with friend(s) and my wife.. I wil say that I felt that some duke's where a bit unfair compared to others.. but overall this game is just good fun.. And it's mostly the luck of the dice and good strategy that wins you the game.. :D
Thank you for watching. As you said, a great game with a bit of luck and strategy sprinkled all over it. It is pretty hard to balance everything, especially when the main mechanic is to throw dice and see what happens...but it still is very enjoyable game. I played it way back when you could not store your army. Someone brought PnP copy of it in the club. You had to use whatever you had on your turn and I must say I kinda liked it more. Not saying this now is bad. But that change felt odd to me once I got real copy of the game.
@@LifeofaBoardGamer Definitely true.. And it's not the biggest issue.. I have had games where it was very close between the winner and number 2 and 3 for example..
I do think there are like 2 or 3 Duke that are just very busted and a few that are very weak.. but that keeps it interesting..
For example, do you have one that is slaying monster's gives you the most points, or the location ones.. Or is it based on the icons, etc.. It's what makes the game fun.. :D
I/We also have quite a few of the expansions and try to mix it up from time to time.. So it keeps being fresh when we play it.. It's not our most played game, but definitely up there.. ;)
@@dachivale5319 I only have Frost and Fire expansion but the plan is to get all of them so I can mix and match and never play the same game twice. :)
@@LifeofaBoardGamer yeah, more expansions does add to the diversity.. have a few games like Marvel Legendary.. where I have so much, that I can pretty much make it so no game is even remotely the same
@@dachivale5319 most expansions I ever bought for one game is SmashUp. Sadly I'm not playing it at all. And I've been trying to sell it for some time now. But I'm trying to sell it as a whole lot. Which is unlikely to happen. :)
Thanks for the comparison. It sounds like the changes were mostly cosmetic with little change to mechanics. It felt like the game played you when it first came out and choices were obvious. I was hoping there were some Tweeks so it no longer felt that way. I'm sure with expansions it wouldn't be like that. I welcome any thoughts on this.
The change is definitely not big from the first edition regarding the rules. They did introduce a card that rewards you if your number doesn't show up or doubles were rolled. Guess that was done to eliminate slow start for someone that was a bit low on luck in the start. Think that is the most change from the 1st. But I had no problems with 1st. I take this game for what it is. You roll some dice, stuff happen and you try your best to cover all the options. Like in Machi Koro, Space Base, Bad Company and other similar games. :)
Expansions do offer more variability and more interesting and fun combos. But why I got this, aside from comparing to 1st edition, is that co-op campaign mode they just fulfilled on the Kickstarter. I think that is what this games needs. You can play it with 1st edition too but I wanted to have all the new stuff because I plan on recording series of videos going through it.
I have first ed. and i like components, artwork. First ed is keeper not replaced 😁
I'm more of a new-is-better guy. Not saying that is always the case but still, more time it is than it is not...
@@LifeofaBoardGamer yea, i understand that, new is better but i cant rid of Descent 1st ed with all exp, that overpowered/ item cards, clumsy diablo stayle mechanism and too long setup and play makes Descent 1ed best dungeon crawler (for me). Played 2ed, and that magic was gone. Way to less items and just a few cards for overlord each scenario?! Dungeon crawler become race against time... Arkham horror also was better than new one, MoM also ( i hate apps in games). Maybe im too old for new games :D
@@debos17debos I get it. I still have my Galaxy Trucker with all expansions and a new one.
Bad example in my opinion is Tyrants of the Underdark. Apparently new edition has cardboard tokens instead of nice little plastic mini shields. Not liking the game itself, but it is downgrade in component, if you ask me.
@@debos17debos I ended up getting Valeria Daarksworn which has a story component and I like it, but it also has the token boards to manage resources. I haven't replaced my 1st edition since I have all the update packs and expansions for it. i just added the boards since the tokens always ran out. I can't stand the Crimson Seas expansion though so won't get that. It makes the game excessively long.
I definitely prefer the artwork of the old version. second edition doesn't do it for me. maybe if the tracker board were two layers
I understand what you are saying, and I can see that...but I really like trackers more than bunch of wooden components in front of me. I agree it would be way better if those boards were two layer boards.
Most of the artwork stayed the same. Monster, domain, and citizen cards should not look different. I think the only things that changed were the addition of the herald starter, a few events, and the tokens are now that tracker style.
But I can agree with you, the tracker is not my favorite either 🙂
@@KilobyteD you are correct. I had some more time with the game and only changes are those you wrote. And yes, embossed tracker would definitely be a nice addition.
