Usually I write this on the first page of my journal to prevent people from reading: "Before you continue with your selfish deed please take some time to ponder on how the owner of this private and personal item would feel when people go through PRIVATE stuff, and please try to visualise yourself being the owner of this journal and people going through your PERSONAL stuff. If you wish to go on please take note that now you're comitting a heavily negative deed and now I hate you forever."
I'm totally going to use this, my mom has read my journal in the past and a whole lot of shit went down and she told me she felt bad for reading it so if she tries again I hope this will be enough to guilt trip her into stopping
I think the only tip I have is kind of a personal choice. I suffer from really bad depression and I've found that keeping a seperate one for my depressive thoughts and another for day to day is helpful. having all the bad thoughts in a seperate journal is better for me. I loved this video though :)
niicolereads I should do that next time. Every time I look through my current journal I just want to burn it because I wrote every depressive though and bad thing in it, and those sadly outnumber the amount of good, day-to-day things I wrote that go on in my life by a large amount.
You don't even need to buy journals with nice things on the front you can buy a really basic one for like £1 and put whatever you want on the front like printed images or drawings.I do that makes it a bit more personal I think
Hi there! I'm new to your videos, but I already like you, haha. I started journaling within the past two months or so after putting it off for over five to seven years because as a kid, I was never able to stay interested in writing. It's been so helpful and relieving to write. I got trapped in the cage of feeling like I had to write every day, too until I ran out of things to say and my entries were less than half a page. It felt like a chore, which was why I stopped writing for so many years. Now, I write whenever I feel like it. Great video! Very helpful.
I've been journaling for a long time now. I started when I was 6, stopped for a while when I was 10, and picked back up when I was 14. (I'm 20 now.) From ages 6 to 10, I wasn't very consistent with my writing. I do write every day now, or almost every day, it's not really something I have to force myself into anymore. That's actually a really good tip, though, because that was probably my downfall the first time. I would have to force myself to write every day, and I lost interest for those four years. Once I started again, I didn't force myself to write every day. I didn't even mean to start writing every day, I just do, now. It's very therapeutic. I can't live without journaling now. But honestly, these are some really good tips, and I wish it had occurred to me to look up a video like this a lot sooner.
With regards to privacy, here's a tip for folk really into scripts beyond Roman-derived lettering: learn an alternative alphabet, be it an existing shorthand system (Gregg is attractive!0, a phonemic orthography (Unifon, Shavian, Cyrillic etc..), or a cipher of one's own invention. Some existing alternative writing systems can, with practice, enable one to actually write faster than cursive, and this can encourage the journalist to write more copiously, with the added benefit of puzzling the casual snoop that might get their hands on your journal, without having to hide it. Journaling can also be an excuse to try amateur bookbinding techniques. For a simple easy book, one can do a variant of saddle stitching with staples instead of thread holding the pages and cover together. More ambitious folk can do a case binding of sorts to make their own hardcovers. I made an A7 sized case bound journal with a cover of some scrap Tolex that a friend gave me with a really nice floral texture and a leathery brown colour. I did a black suminagashi pattern on the end papers, foreedge, top and bottoms edges for visual interest, and used a heavier paper than usually comes with the typical store-bought notebook. And Moleskines are available in a variety of sizes, including some tiny ones that are roughly A8 size, so there are opitions for folk who would rather just buy a good, if plain, notebook. Phew, thanks to anyone who bore with me for this whole post!
Wow! This is great. I have a privacy problem in my house so its a bit scary for me to be open when I write in my journal. Great video! You are so pretty and your handwriting is goals! I will definitely try everything you said. x
I've recently bought a journal and have been trying to figure out what to do with it, so this was super helpful! Also you are really pretty! I love the flower crown
Thanks for doing this video. I go back to this when I need motivation to write. Or whenever I feel "guilty" for skipping days. I guess I just need someone to tell me that I don't have to write everyday.
I've recently started a journal/journals. I have one for just general feelings/thoughts/things I did and what not. I also have another that I dedicated to writing about my story ideas. That way I don't keep thinking about the same parts of ideas over and over, it gives me a way to get stuff out. I've only done one session with that one though and only a few with the general one.
I wish I had a talent in arts, like music or mostly *drawing* ... I really try to sdraw sketchs and faces and logos and all but it all ends up in the dustbin. They never came out as the ones I pictured in my head. This is frustrating.... *But I really admire how you draw though, good work!*
Sorry I'm 2 years late, lol, but you don't need talent to make art. It takes skill. You can build up that skill, but it will take a long time. You need patience and you need to practice. Practice and you will improve in your art.
Ipek BB it's okay it's pretty much how everyone starts out drawing once you better develop your skills you will begin to be able to draw from your mind easier
i am 12 yrs old and i have been wanting to get into journaling and you realy helped me thank you so much u realy helped to inspire me i have a hard back imrortal journal i will definetly use some of your tips thank you!
This was very helpful! I just started to keep a journal for the sake of coping with my illness, as well as jot down plans, ideas, things that happened throughout the day. Also use it to make lists; I love making lists. Gives you a sense of control LOL! I also review albums so it's nice to keep all of those notes in there while I listen to the music. :D PS: I LOVE THE MOOMINS JOURNAL!!!!
Definitelly really inpiring! And definitelly a new subbie ;) That handwritting though! GOALS! I can write in that style too because I had to write like that in school in Czech Republic when I still lived there... but yours is just wow!
I have a journal with a lock on it and pretty flowers and paterns. I feel like because of that I can't express myself freely in it or ruin it if you get what I mean. That's why I'm buying a new one. Black simple moleskine style. To take it with me everywhere so it isn't obvious
something i’ve been battling with is one of the tips you said: not to be afraid to write your actual thoughts and feelings. i’ve thrown out so many journals because of the fact that i will say one negative thing and the next day i will be stressing about writing that i’m happy again or just that someone will read it and think i’m crazy. just recently someone read my diary again.... and now i’m on medication and am forced to go to counseling,, it’s just not fair to me. writing in a journal is my only reasonable coping skill because i can correct my own thoughts and can think more about what i say. i just hate having to be scared of someone reading it again....
I have about severe journals that I keep 1. prayer journal & a persnal journal I do my journaling on seperate journals that I keep I just love to write that's my passion to write.
Ok so writing like once a week will keep you with it and stuff, because it’s so exiting you’re telling your friend who never gets bored with you an update on your life.
also, i have hid my journals in the following places which clearly arent good enough: in the back of my closet in a suitcase full of clothes, inside a safe hidden in the back of my dresser, and other crazy places. i take my journal absolutely everywhere, because i have anxiety about people judging me based on what i write. i take it to the bathroom with me, i hide it under my pillow when i’m sleeping, i take it to school, and i can never be without it....
All my notebooks are from Marshalls and TJ Maxx... They art cheap and fun or the damage bin at my local art store... I use art or sticker to cover those messed up parts it kinda fun to find new ways to fix them up and fill them
You can get a decent fountain pen from muji for a tenner I recommend this as it in the long term is cheaper than buying pens and can be used for drawing as well as writing.
I love journaling and I hate it when my friends ask to read mine like no you can't it's MY journal it is my private thoughts and feeling so yah my tip is do t let anyone test it even if there's nothing to secret in there a journal is one of the things that is only your business but yah definitely try journaling I love it so much❤️❤️
Only good thing about my childhood OCD lmao, I’ve mostly grown out of it now but I started writing in a journal four years ago for memory purposes and I’ve hardly missed a day because I think I won’t sleep without writing it oops
As far as keeping a personal journal another idea could be keeping an online journal on an email account you don't plan on sharing with other people or something (like keeping a google docs)
I could never write in my journal every day as sometimes you don't do anything that day. I only write in it when I do something I want to remember, or want to draw something or stick stuff in there, etc. To be fair though I do keep a sketchbook journal so I write about my days in it and draw in it and stick stuff in it. Still on my first journal as I took a long time off it but will be starting a new one soon hopefully
I can't bring myself to start :/ I have 3-4 journals and will be getting more but I don't know what to write or anything and I feel like it'll always be the same or I'll just mess up somehow? any suggestions? I'm also an artist if that changes anything
I know it's been a year but well. If you're afraid of messing up maybe just mess up a page on purpose. As an artist you may be familiar with the blank page/blank sketchbook syndrome. That's essentially the same. You can do some ink tests, color swatches or other things. Otherwise, it's not a problem to write the same on some days. Personally, my journal is filled with a lot of "I'm tired", "I need more sleep" and "School was nice" sentences because it's grounding me and helps to sort out thoughts and experiences. Also, your journal shows you as you are and all of us mess up at some point. Don't be afraid of being yourself in your journal. :)
Yo I watched this video for writing tips but all I can think about how nice her handwriting is like Jesus Christ I wish. My handwriting isn't even bad but daammnnn.
this is gonna sound kinda weird but could you do a "tutorial" on how you write like that? just like your ABC's and numbers 1-10.. etc.. that handwriting is beautiful
Usually I write this on the first page of my journal to prevent people from reading:

+Hatsune Kurokui omg that made my day! and its also going in mine! :)
Really effective, great!!!
YASSS , MUST PUT THAT IN MY JOURNAL THANK YOU SOOO MUCH
I'm totally going to use this, my mom has read my journal in the past and a whole lot of shit went down and she told me she felt bad for reading it so if she tries again I hope this will be enough to guilt trip her into stopping
lln! I'm gonna use this!

I've been journalling for 10 years. These are great tips especially about keeping it honest an writing your emotions down. It's so therapeutic!
You don't even need to buy journals with nice things on the front you can buy a really basic one for like £1 and put whatever you want on the front like printed images or drawings.I do that makes it a bit more personal I think

My only problem is that I never finish my journals😂😂

Brilliant video 🇬🇧👍👍💗🌻 xx
If you smoke tobacco, circulation is being held at artificially low levels, and stopping would bring some relief. Just if.
You have awesome handwriting
Just thought of a rather brilliant way to hide your diary in plain sight. Cover with a book cover. :)
ahh i love your videos! you're so adorable c:
