  • Usain Bolt. The GOAT. In 3 straight Olympics, and 4 consecutive world championships, there was next to no one that could even challenge this sprinter. From 2008 through 2016, he completed the ever-elusive triple gold medal in both the 100 and the 200 meters in ever single olympic games. However, there was a time in 2012, when 1 special athlete was uncatchable, even against the great Usain Bolt.

    That 19.26 from Blake doesn't get anywhere near enough credit. Yes it wasn't on the biggest stage and at the most prestigious of games but that would of smashed Michael Jonhson's long standing 200m record . Even though usain's time of 19.19 is just totally freakish but because of Blake's time it feels like it's very much possible for someone to break that 19.19 record.

    Blake did not achieve what he had to. He actually ran well for only 2 years at the beginning of his career (2011 and 2012)
    It is a great pity that he is still searching for the old glory and form from his young days when he was the very best in the world.
    The fact that he barely goes under 10 seconds today best shows how tragic that 2013 injury was.
    He spent 8 full years after the injury to return to his old form and in the meantime he has aged (he is 31 years old today).
    Today he is almost forgotten, and what a sprinter he should have been if everything had been as it should be....

    There's backstory to Bolt's loss at the Jamaican national trials. Bolt and Powell were street racing their cars after leaving a late night party. Bolt wrecked his BMW and messed up his back... 48 hours before the trials began. Not enough time for him to see his chiropractor in Europe. So he gutted it out and after qualifying, he went to his doctor for treatment. If not for this hiccup, we would have seen new World records in London 2012.

Also please note, your legs are only as powerful as you are because the 2 work in tandem. Leg speed or leg turn over rate should be view as a fulcrum and double pendulum system that is able to take the optimal swings when the sprinter is out of his drive phase.

If he had won the trials, the the American sprinters would know his personal time and will be motivated to beat him, so he save the surprise and suspense for the Olympics. Plus, it helps boost Yohan Blake's confidence!!!!!

    That 2011 100m Final was probably the last chance that we could have seen another sub 9.6 from Bolt. His Start from out of the blocks was the best that year compared to any other seasons that we've ever seen Bolt. For someone who was 6'5, he was torching the competition right at the start of the gun when he usually was one of the slowest because of his tall figure. Was a real bummer that it became a false start. The race will forever remain as one of those "What If" moment.
    By the way, during his 100m/200m @ Jamaican Olympic trial in 2012, Bolt was apparently sick with a fever if I remember correctly so he was not at his best despite qualifying and running times that bested the competition (besides Yohan Blake)

      Bolt ran the 200m in 2011 all out registering 19.40, with that said a person can get an estimation from his 200 time that he was not in sub 9.6 shape!

    • @Heat_ts7
      @Heat_ts7 3 роки тому +2

      @@macgyversmit4647 both events are all out races but that narrative is false. Look at Yohan Blake for example. He ran a 19.26 same year at Diamond League after WC. That’s the closest we’ve ever seen to match Bolt’s 19.19 yet he’s never gone close to cracking a sub 9.6 with his best a lucky 9.69. 200m requires speed and some endurance towards the runner while 100m requires a perfect combination to start, drive and turnover (and maybe lean) throughout the entire race to run a great time

      @@biglilrichard we’ve never seen him get anywhere close to it again that’s why. Blake’s next best attempt was a 9.75 and since we’ve never seen him go sub 9.8. A time of 9.7 is already a different realm of speed which only Bolt was most consistent around for quite a bit while other top sprinters hung around “hoping” to even go below 9.85. Like I said, it requires a combination a perfect combination of start, drive, turnover as well as the fitness that they produced in themselves to be able to get lucky enough to hit those times while Bolt was a different breed despite losing 1 (or even 2) races in a year but was always untouchable when at his best whereas every other sprinter we literally never knew who was going to win until they crossed the finish line.
