    I think it's mainly because his character's private home life slows down the pacing of the movie, this scene along with a bunch of deleted scenes would ruined the atmosphere or pacing. Personally what I like about this scene is how he seems to be thinking about the fact it all went south and they were forced to kill those guards, and he was the one who was to execute the last guard in cold blood. Also the parallel of having two little girls and being forced to take a young girl hostage later on

      Slows down the pacing? The movies almost 3 hours long

      @@BostonsF1nestThe length of the movie doesn’t mean you can’t have pacing.
      It can be 2 or 4 hours, you still want good pacing for the movie.

    Man Mike came so close. He defused himself. The wife has a good feeling how bad it might be just by that forced smile, not arguing with her. And she goes with it rather than press.
    Because he just saw a loose cannon blow some guards brains out which made another guard go for his gun, forcing Mike to open fire. Only to keep an eye on that loose cannon Waingro for hours. Only for him to escape. The man who turned timed robbery considered Neil's rule, leaving the scene 30 seconds before police response time. 150 seconds or less to a 180 second response time, into a manhunt after 3 guards were found dead.
    Comes home to his wife and kids and seems like the kids are what's keeping him together through that stressful situation.

    I bet this scene was a hard decision.
    Could have been in there.
    The movie didn't put almost no scenes of Michael Cheritto.
    The scene was pretty ok.... no big bugs, and was suppose to come probably after he has decided to do the bank robbery.

    • @mumikaric6942
      @mumikaric6942 9 років тому +5

      mumi karic remember how he asks neil "is this the best thing to do ? is this the best thing to do ?"
      and neil tells him that if he was him he would have got out cause he doesn't need it as badly as Neil and Shiherlis.
      But then Cherito said he's in and for him "the action is the juice".
      so that scene should have come after that and before the bank heat, so of course this scene shows us how he is concerned about doing the risky bank heat and destroying his family.

    I believe Cerrito here is Crashing on meth. His substance abuse was alluded to in different scenes, and here, that spaceyness is a surefire indicator. IIRC this is when Sizemore got hooked on speed in real life, causing a beef with Mann, maybe why these scenes and his background as a charecter were basically cut out of the film. He was my favorite charecter. He is on methamphetamine here, sure as Hanna is coked up to the gills the whole movie

      Matt Verellen .... watched the movie 10 times. never alludes to drug use. Infact, in story arc, Neil would never trust or work with someone with Substance abuse issues. i think you re mixing up character with Sizemore the actor and his legendary meth addiction

      Matt Verellen Cheritto was hardened criminal and was in prison for armed robbery and assault along with other felonies but not drug use as his background is told in movie but nothing about drug or alcohol abuse. Tom Sizemore had drug issues including addiction to cocaine

    • @scottknode898
      @scottknode898 2 роки тому +2

      He was in and out of prison most of his life known as a career criminal. His rap sheet is a mile long as said by Hanna’s team when Hanna finds out about Cheritto from his colleague Detective Casals on the phone. He tells Vincent Cheritto has 33 arrests since 1976, 11 for armed robbery and 3 convictions. He served hard time in Attica, and Folsom. Neil also served time in Folsom as he a career criminal himself.

      There’s a scene where the crew was out to dinner in a restaurant with their significant others. Cherrito brought his 2 kids and presented his wife a gift. I guess there were too many subplots as it is because they were already focusing on Hanna, Neil, Chris and Breedan’s personal lives.

  • @goldsmice
    @goldsmice 16 років тому +9

    Why the fuck did they delete this scene? Everyone else had scenes with their family, why not Cheritto? Especially since he was the one guy out of all of them with the most to lose - as far as I know he was the only one with kids. Sad what happened to him, though I can't say he didn't deserve it.

      goldsmice Chris played by Val Kilmer had a son Dominic with his wife Charlene. Cheritto was a psychotic armed robber and career criminal with a long rap sheet for robbery and assault. Clearly this needed to be removed. It was too cliched, too forced. We didn't need another scene of the distant macho tattooed bad boy going home to the unfailingly understanding and absolutely unquestioningly chaste, faithful and beautiful wife who just happens to have a hobby of collecting, befriending and marrying violent prison pen pals. It's not realistic or interesting. The dynamic with Chris and his wife was interesting.

      @KentAllard That's a plausible explanation. When Pacino lines up his shot, Sizemore holds the girl to the side and not directly in front of him so there's a blurring of his morality and criminal tendencies as this scene shows. On the other hand, Michael Mann says in the dvd commentary that criminals like Sizemore's character only care for their kids and not those of other people.
