Loaded Trailer Going Over!

- I got called for a trailer that was half loaded with barley mash that was sinking into the ground and on the verge of rolling over. The rear half of the trailer was empty, and the front half was full, so it was a lot of weight to lift and definitely a job for a big wrecker. But I don’t have a big wrecker so I brought my @NRCIndustries 40TB rollback and got a little
creative to get the job done!

To the casual observer that may have looked like simply lifting a trailer’s landing gear out of a mud hole. But, this was a very technical recovery. There was a lot going on and a lot to consider. Any number of things could have gone wrong and all of them would have been bad. Casey, you really showed your skill level and an exceptional knowledge of your truck’s capabilities and how to use them effectively. You actually made it look easy! Great job! 👏
I'm an Electrician and sometimes the fixes are much faster than the customer is expecting. With jobs like this, you're paying for the expertise to do it right more than the equipment and effort.
@@Vagitarian01 Like the old joke about calling the guy out of retirement to fix the control console in a power plant. He comes in, looks at it and gives it a good kick. Then he hands them a bill for $5,010. The manager screams, "That's ridicules, all you did was kick it!". The guy writes out a new, itemized, bill.
Kick console -$10. Knowing where to kick it -$5,000.
Yep. the word that kept going through my head was 'finesse'.
No.
I was thinking the same thing. A lot surely could have gone wrong with this. We had landing gear let go at Depot once & it surely didn't go this well for the wrecker company that showed up lol Great job Casey! 🤘 💪
You can tell the old gentleman was really impressed with your ability to slide the truck backwards! Too bad he wasn't out there to advise whoever dropped the trailer without blocks under the feet. We have all been in a hurry & done it though. Know I have, but tend to remember how much extra work it makes for myself later. You can see the guys mind really working! He is totally enjoying you talking to him! That's cool your taking the time to explain, most guys tend to feel worthless as we age, Im still learning too!
I suspect the ground was solidly frozen when the trailer was dropped - and then began to melt.
Sometimes it's not even being in a hurry. Could have just been the end of the day, tired distracted, or just having a bad brain day and forgetting this could happen.
@Joe Stimac sometimes the ground looks solid even though it's not. The impression I got was that it started sinking halfway through the loading process. The trailer probably didn't weigh enough when empty to break through the surface crust.
Maybe in a hurry, maybe noone there and no blocks handy, maybe ground seemed solid enough, or even "been there, done that" in that place already several times without swamping - who knows?
I dropped a chip trailer once in a gravel lot loaded with about 66,000 pounds of chips. I knew better but I was in a hurry and thought it would hold with the weather we'd had lately. I've dumped loaded trailers there before. Well, we got a lot of rain and down went the trailer. I felt really bad because the service manager that I've worked with for over a decade told me how much of a fight it was to get that trailer under a truck again. We were 105,500; 43,500 legal on tandems with a drop. So that trailer had a LOT of weight on the plate and it was loaded to the max. The landing gear definitely didn't support it.
In case anyone says that Casey did it wrong , he doesn't have an 1150R rotator at his disposal , just his heavy duty rollback , which worked just fine ( although I'd bet he wouldn't mind having a rotator truck )
Maybe one day
As the old saying goes, “you run what you brung”
Even I would love to have a rotator to, and I don’t even need to tow anything. I could actually use a rollback to move equipment though, that would be nice, but I have a dually for that.
49,000 a walk in a park for the NRC40TB.
@@clark7117 not sure how the ratings relate to actual capacity, but the NRC40TB is rated at 40,000 pounds.
You never fail ..... "Definitely Found The Wet Spot" seriously, that is one sweet truck you have. First time I've seen a maneuver like that, very talented indeed
Your big International is pretty damn impressive Casey. You make it look easy but the reality is that there is a lot of things to take into consideration before making a move on lifting and moving the sinking trailer. Job well done! Thanks for taking us along and of course thumbs UP! 👍. You are going to be at 200,000 subs before too long! Hell yeah!
😘
So much to be said about knowing your equipment and tools to get things done.
I drove truck in Alaska for 13 years, before my 10 years here in Oregon. I've had a front end loader lift and drag my trailer out of a driveway once. Also had several landing gear sink. Once had to chain a sinking trailer to my truck frame to keep it from flipping while waiting for a wrecker and a guy like Casey. Casey did a fantastic job with what he had to work with. A very capable dude.
Cascade Heavy Rescue: "We think outside the box" Good job Casey.
I like the variety of jobs you do with your fleet of trucks. You smoothly go from a tracked jeep recovery to the rollback. All entertaining.
That's the most technical recovery I've seen in quite a while.
Not just another boring @YankumRope video, sorry Allan!
Wow - you give a whole new meaning to "adapt and overcome", Casey. It was pretty neat to watch this unfold and see how you utilized the abilities of your truck to get the trailer moved over. Just Wow!
Wow Casey, the more I watch you work with that rollback the more impressed I am with it! I will have to say that I am real impressed with the wrecker and the way you operate it! 😊
Man, I was so absorbed in that! Maybe it was the POV camera, but I felt the pressure of finding the best solution each step of the way 😅 Awesome work Casey 👏
This guy is an amazing operator with incredible expertise. His truck is a very trick piece of kit. I like the way he gave the other guy the opportunity of making the decision that the job was finished. If he messed up putting the prime mover, I'm Australian, under the trailer and stuffed it up, the tow truck driver could have charged him for a second job.
The initial problem could have been avoided if he had put blocks of wood under the legs in the first place. If he didn't have any blocks, he could have used the spare wheel as a weight spreader under the trailer leg, if he placed it face down.
Brilliant people ❤️👀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Not much surprises me what you can get done with the power and abilities of a flat bed and of course the right operator
I'll never have a need for many of the things I learn watching Casey's channel, but it still fascinates me to watch how he does things (and learn from them).
It is always nice to see somebody use a piece of equipment and know how to use it every bit of it
It amazes me how many buttons, knobs, switches, and levers it takes to do all of that, plus remembering what and where everything is stored. Great job Casey!
That truck is amazingly cool, it's impressive what can be accomplished with the right know how and some serious tools!
Your job is always an adventure
Great videos👍👍👍
Well that was a heavy one . Your skills are spot on Casey.
you got some clever gear Casey and you know how to use it. Well done sir, From Pete a UK trucker.
Always nice when you impress the customers. You could hear it in the older gentleman’s voice. Us UA-cam experts are also mighty impressed! Almost got to use the new toys… I mean tools.
I've always been impressed by your skills and overall knowledge with physics, safety, and equipment limitations - not to mention your natural ability to explain and narrate :) That was awesome Casey!!! I appreciate learning new things while being entertained!
Man your truck sure can lift❤ Thank you for sharing.😊
A professional at work, excellent job sir.
The Western Star / Zacklift combo would have murdered this job.
Casey I always enjoy your videos because you always figure out unique ways to get the job done and usually it is something regular people don't think about
Very creative! It was a good watch. Thanks for sharing!
Brilliant man 👀❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
A lot of work to get the trailer to safer ground. So much weight for your truck, at least the hydraulics are set to bypass when they have reached their limits. Hope you didn't mess anything up that will show up in the future. Great job for what you had to work with. That truck is pretty awesome with the right operator. Thanks for taking us along.
First, I know almost nothing about the wrecker business, other than what I see on TV. When I saw you were bringing a flatbed to this job I wondered why. Had no idea what that was capable of. I was very impressed, both with the truck and your knowledge of how to use it. This revealed that I know even less than I thought. Great job!
The why part is east.. I don’t have anything else 🤷🏻♂️
@@CaseyLaDelle And yet, you made it work! Sometimes we have to make what we have do the job. We have to get creative, and you did.
Perfect dinner vid!
I was just happy to move my home made pizza from the baking sheet to the plate without tipping it over or getting stuck.
I love seeing these jobs with big equipment
The equipment Casey had and his ingenuity were more than sufficient for the job. Brilliantly done young Sir.
Love it when a well executed plan comes together. Awesome!! Thanks Casey for bringing us along.
Wow, impressive ! He did not have the high speed equipment but he did his job very well
The engineering of the bed capability and a good operator always Cool to see
Once again Casey got creative and got the job done. Impressive watching you work my friend. Peace Out.
That hole they're talking about, I seen it as soon as he started sliding the deck back the first time and thought it would be almost perfect to use, glad he's thinking that!
Been there myself but before my incompetent driver dropped his 50000 cement loaded trailer on a shoulder. Shimmed the landing gear to slow the unavoidable sinking and slid another tractor under the trailer just in time. Fired the idiot who put us in the tight spot and gave a grand to my driver who saved the day. We avoided ruining a brand new flatbed, dumping 13 pallets of white Portland cement into the ditch incurring a hefty epa fine and pissing off my customer waiting on his product.
I really enjoyed this video and it took me back to a time to think it through and solve the problem. And let’s not forget the 25 hundred dollars I saved by not calling the tow service. All this was done via video phone call. Thanks again
Casey; very impressive work, you know your craft!
New blocks are already earning their keep!
Casey . . . You know some stuff . . . and you did an awesome job . . . I'd hate to think about what you could do if you were good at this . . . You have said, "I never said I was good at this." It looks like you are pretty good at this to me . . .
Very impressive job. Great work as always
I don't know which is better, the way you did this job, so efficiently and effectively or the way you video'd it with commentary as you went. Looks like no editing required. Excellent job, keep it up. 👍👍🙃🇦🇺
That's a cool truck you got
Greetings from South Africa 🌍🤗. WOW !
That was absolutely fascinating. I am not a trucker, just a 76 yr old Granny who enjoys watching machinery in action. Thoroughly enjoyed your video. Thank you Casey 👍👌😉
nice. drove road assist for a couple years and one thing is what you learn to do, another is what you sometimes have to do.
need to have a creative mindset and willing to operate in the gray areas.
So Wise , Thank You . A fine example using the tools avaleble to get the job DONE
Well done! Good thinking and problem solving.👍👍👍👍
CASEY is a smart FELLER not out to screw the small man! Totally cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All recovery's are technical. U can make a bad situation worst in a heartbeat. Hats off to those people.
Super interesting. Have a great day Casey.
That was just in a league of it's own as far as a recovery goes, VERY well executed
Always great content. Thank you for the video and the hard work!
Casey, I felt like a kid in school. It was very educational to learn just how versatile your towing rig is.. Truly amazing.. Cheers, Mate.
It's amazing how capable a modern tow truck really is! It looks like this one is a "Swiss army knife" of attatchments...In your hands Casey,it looks unstoppable.
A reoccurring attribute I see in your videos is patients and a calm confidence, a rare blend than contributes to your success and our continued admiration and entertainment..
Impressive creative thinking. Even remembering to turn the feet on the landing gear so they don't tilt was intriguing.
Very cool to see you use all this gear in a different type of situation!
Wow, that truck got real power!
First I thought the remote for the truck was cool until I seen how much maneuvering that thing can do.
Casey's amazing skills. 💪
great job, you always find a way to get the job done.
That's what I call some sweet problem solving. Thanks for bringing us along. 😊
That was a good job using things not for their intended use but doing as safe as possible and not breaking anything was great outside the box thinking. Good job Casey
First time watching your video! Very interesting heavy duty roll back truck that I ever have seen! Am a retired professional truck driver now! 👍
this Casey is a gentleman and a rare one to find in the towing and recovery operations today. Many, if not most, would not have the skill and would do their best to rip off the person in need. Blessings to him.. don't let any "experts" tell you anything. You do beautiful work.
Very technical, GREAT JOB!!!!!!! a lot of things could have gone wrong
Great job, I drove one of those trucks for 7 Years moving heavy equipment for rental industry but I moved everything in between as well, I had 40 ton hydraulic winch. Great use of your stinger and accessories!
Well Casey, all these new fancy trucks do the things we were taught never to do when driving. Use engine brake to shift, go to neutral on slight down hills, coast to a stop. New Peterbilts love to launch you down a hill.
Nothing better than knowing how to use your equipment to it's fullest. The sign of a good operator.
Very impressive in how you tackled that trailer Sir ! Not something I had seen done that way. But that is one beast of a rollback for sure !
Thanks for taking us along on the journey with you Sir ! ✌️😎
Got to see your new attachments in action, very cool
I don't care what the experts say that was a job well done! That job could have gone really bad. Innovation is what you did i'm quite impressed..
It's good to see the shiny new parts earning their keep. 😊
Turns out you were good at pulling that out the hole, also good consideration about there possible being a water/ power etc line under the ground.
It's okay dude, what you do may not be perfect to you but it's always perfect to me. 99% of the population cannot do what you do it's very important that you understand that and your good deeds.
Casey another fantastic job well done. You got there and evaluated the situation and carefully put your game plan to work. Also nice having the right equipment to accomplish getting things done safely as possible. Also you made wonderful purchase of getting that truck.
Casey! That was hecka fascinating. Thanks for that vid.
That was a heck of an interesting situation. Excellent job Casey!!!!!
The two guys watching were very impressed. Thinking outside of the box, adapt and overcome, be prepared...Casey, you are an absolute Dude.
i am a retired truck mechanic. i have heard of trailers with a "walking floor" but this is the first one i ever saw. i know that they walk the freight out the back. just the first i have seen.
This isn’t a walking floor
From the keyboard control center aided by my "it's so dam easy chair" you did a fine job! You also have some great people skills. Seat of the pants when the road surface starts to give way.
Epic. Professional knowledge with hydraulic assist.
Pretty fancy moves going on there! I'm impressed!
First time watching. Very talented.
"I try to solve people's problems, not create more of them" - that you do Casey, brilliant work and always thinking of the end result - whether that be how is someone going to hitch to this trailer later or clearing up from a pickup on a snowmobile trail so that others can enjoy it later without risk of injury (and everything inbetween).
Brilliant work and one of my very favourite channels on YT.
That was one heavy rescue! Job done with no damage to the trailer or the rollback! I guess we can let the coast to the stop sign slide.
That's one fine recovery truck and a fine operator, Bravo Casey
After a long dry spell, this was a very interesting video. I was riveted in my seat wondering what you were going to do next. These kinds of videos will always be welcomed. Glad to watch!
Reminds me of the time, I was starting my first trip as an over the road trucker. When I brought the tractor over to the shipper's address, The landing gear was sunk about a foot into the ground. The shipper called a tow truck and when it got there it was a little car sized wrecker to pick up a forty foot, trailer that weighed 35000 pounds. Kind of a late start that morning waiting for the big wrecker.
Lmao all you do then is air down your tractor and get rather frame under the trailer front ..crib it up with 4x4 and air up you tractor ..lifts it right up .. easy peasy .. not a miracle or any thing ..those suspensions are made to lift all you have to do is get under the load with the tractor orrmeven a chain thin usevthe tractor .. unless it was 35byears ago then maybe you had no air ride ...I can't vmbelieve nobody on here seems to be aware of this.
You've seen it here! Casey is pretty good at fitting a shaft into any hole!!!😄
Yer an amazing guy. Thanks for the entertaining videos.
I coast to a stop LOTS of times, saves on brakes, and doesn't hurt a thing.
Awesome Casey, I get great enjoyment from young work, I love it, keep it up. Gerald Ingram, New Zealand.
Well that was on a whole other level I've never seen before. Serious skills.
Listening to that video, I kept looking for Grumpy! Ben sure sounds like him a few times!
The old guy in the video was hilarious!!
