The original is too loud on its own, but if you have a tube amp, you can crank the preamp which will cause the amp to naturally compress the signal and eliminate the volume jump you hear when you turn it on. The DS-2 also behaves.
Yep! You are correct sir! Sadly my “trans tube” peavey amp doesn’t quite cut it. Cranking the preamp does help but the white noise then becomes a problem. One solution I had was to crank the preamp about half way, with amp volume below 1, then use a compressor last in my signal chain with compressor all the way up and it helped with ds2 and wah not be so overbearing. Thank you for your input! Much appreciated my friend
Kevin is doing awesome mods for those wh10 ! Got a V2 with vintage mod and it sounds exactly like my V1. Don’t have the preamp adjustement knob on but I don’t need it as I deal with an already pushed amp plus the pastfx ce1 preamp, so I don’t have the volume boost issue.
That’s awesome! I have looked into pastfx ce 1 but haven’t decided yet. I think there aren’t any in stock actually lol.. I have heard behringer is making a Ce1 clone. I’ve seen a couple pics but not sure if they’re still pre or post production yet.
@@frusciantegeartone amazing that behringer’s produicing a ce1 clone !?!Did not know that ! Gonna have a look ! In fact the most surprising is that boss has not already done it ! Pastfx the 2 versions (deluxe and M3007) are sweet tone jewels, faithfull recreations ! Triungulo lab is great too !
Good Demo but I didn't see a Demo for the Bass Guitar, so I don't know should I buy it for my 4 string Fender Bass. Really needed to hear both Bass and Guitar.
@@Agogo57 I’m sorry about that. Wasn’t something I even thought about. What I can tell you is that the bass is pretty similar but just darker and not as extreme. Pretty mellow but not lacking character. I think you would be happy. It’s very smooth in my opinion.
I love the volume boost, but I only use the WH10 into a mid gain setting at my amp, also boosted with a Boss OS2 to get into high gain. And I only got the wah to replace my Crybaby as the WH10 is nearly 1kg lighter.
Well it sounds like John without the mod, but it’s so loud it’s almost unbearable to even practice. Playing live it was definitely too loud without the mod. I assume that’s why John has the modded wah. For a little more money, it SO worth the mod.
Yes, everyone has that problem. Even John Frusciante. That’s why he also has the mod to control the volume. If you buy the Wilson effects mod, it solves that issue. I originally bought the standard wh10v3 and the volume jump was so bad that when I played live, it was too intense of a jump so I sold it then bought the Kevin Wilson mod where they put the volume pot where the true bypass/buffered bypass switch is. www.wilsoneffects.com/modifiedwh10s
Rarely but it did happen some. When you get the feel for it after a day or so, you’ll know how hard/soft to press. The standard wh10v3 (without the mod) was almost impossible to turn on and off while sitting down. Even times when I was standing, it was hard to engage. The Wilson mod makes it so much easier. I actually sold all my gear for a helix, but I’m looking at buying another one from Kevin Wilson, because they’re literally perfect in my opinion.
