Cool vid, good job on keeping it clean on install. Like your fixed dash as well. I'd have to do something different cause I relocated my plate to the bottom bumper to make room for my lighted red porsche light that connects the rear tailights. Almost finished my ls1 swap after the car has been dead for 14 years. Will be great to bring it back to life next month.
I’d do the same thing just put a hole in between the plate bracket holes on the lower bumper and then run the wire up from underneath the car. Then tilt the camera up a little bit and it should be good. Congrats on bringing her back to life! That first key over is gonna be a great feeling I’m sure 🤙🏻
I have the same license plate on my car! Can't wait to see the mirror review/mounting solution. I adapted a compass/temp mirror to my car - a lot of cutting and jb weld!
I’ll have a video review coming out soon, unfortunately I got side tracked by a shop screwing me over with my AC, which I’ll post about as well. Thanks for watching!
I've thought about it on my 928 but the mirror mounts to the wind screen glass, i'm paranoid about messing with it as remounting on the glass will be a pain. It's possible to make a new mount on the headliner I suppose. Could also put a new single DIN stereo with video screen in the dash too.
That was the whole reason I ended up doing this, my metal mount came off my glass so I had nothing to lose at that point. Wiring it up to a stereo with a video output is also 100% a great option. The procedure is pretty much the same, but instead of plugging into the mirror you’re plugging into the head unit. I’m debating throwing a double din in this car just to make life easier when commuting or navigating. I don’t want to change things too too much though.
@@peterschmidt1453 I have seen those, they block the AC controls when folded up so just something to be conscious of if you care about that at all, there are also other solutions that are a single DIN deck, but with a 7 inch screen so it’ll slide into the top slot and fit inside a standard double din space. I don’t think you’d have to cut that middle part, however I don’t have any actual experience with any of those installed in a 944. I think one guy installed a SONY unit that was like that here on UA-cam but I could be mistaken. In any case a 3D printed part would be a great way to split that cubby into two pockets if it’s been cut before.
@@TakeFlightGarage Thanks for the info. I think the AC / Fan control on the 928 might be high enough not to get blocked by a flip out screen. I have a reasonable after market stereo with CD changer behind the rear seats, would be nice to have a modern one though, with blue tooth and USB. A few other priority maintenance issues required first.

Looks great! I need to add the camera to my Boxster since I installed the double DIN stereo.
I’d probably steer clear of the unit I ordered… more to come in the review video lol.
@@TakeFlightGarage I’d do the wired one.
@@OhYeahAboutThat absolutely the better choice. The picture quality might be better on that model.
Beautiful car!
Thank you!

Can you include a link to the product in the next video? Nice vid!
For sure! I’ll include a link to this one as well as perhaps one that I might think is a better choice. Thanks for watching!

@@TakeFlightGarage To avoid cutting the console to fit a double DIN, there are single DIN head units that have a motorised screen that slides out.
