Yes, please do Dayglow. What distribution service did he use to release the initial version of Fuzzy Brain album? We all know that "Can I Call You Tonight" went viral, and then he licensed the album to a label and added additional tracks. But did his initial distribution have any kind of promotion behind it, PR campaign to get Reviews, ads etc?
Hey everyone who is making music, keep going, don’t pay attention to the numbers, the greatest reward is being able to inspire others 💕 thank you burstimo for this video 😊
I cannot believe how accessible this video made this information. And in a succinct way too, none of that '10 THINGS YOU GOTTA DO' stuff with someone shouting out of a youtube screen in my face. Thank you for doing this!!
I love the authenticity of your channel and the fact that you’re not trying to sell anything. That builds trust more than anything. I follow most music marketing channels and you offer the most valuable content. Very much appreciated …
I’m not sure I can say that I enjoyed hearing how pointless so many of our access points are… but this is genuinely one of the best & most encouraging videos I’ve seen on the industry.
Hey guys! I've been feeling pretty out of it, frustrated with myself, frustrated with my weaknesses, God knows I meant well. But now I'm coming alive, body and soul, and feeling my world start to turn! Thank you for educating us, Burstimo! 🌼🌼🌼
Hey brother, hope all is well! Something that's really overlooked is our inner health. This has nothing to do with music but instead with mental and physical health. Taking just a few days off to dedicate some time to your general health. Make a new blueprint for exercises and start taking a quality vitamins & minerals supplement. This will definitely balance and boost your self-esteem and help your mind to restore to another level. At the end of the 14 days you will definitely have a clean and clear mindset and be able to see things outside the world (mind) box and make more sensible decisions. Stay bless!!
I take a lot of effort for my music. My music blew up in 2016 and unfortunately i had to take a long break from independent music. Now that I have come back to it, I am investing my money, time and energy into it. I have around 30 to 40 songs yet to release. I am running out of money. I need help. Mentally and emotionally. This video was a lil relief though
Helpful content here. Spent most of last year making songs, now i'm focusing on making pieces of content for what i've created and building my social media presence. And of course hoping it will translate into more streams. Gotta start somewhere 💯 thanks!
What has always frustrated me from the beginning of my journey and prevented me to start is funding my music(since I'm a student and do not have a job). But I greatly appreciate your advise and educational tips.
being 25 and having never done a gig, being able to produce and record my vocals myself but having no team around me to help whilst also being in a full time job so therefore never having the time to work on my craft and passion - boy i feel like my time is running out everyday and the dark thoughts that surround that, not good. 🤣 completely on the “just doing it because i love it and whatever happens off the back of infrequent youtube video posting happens” vibe.
@@leilasix but if you REALLY wanted it you’d risk it all right? even when you have a rented property to pay for, weekly bills to pay, food shopping to buy? 🤣 makes me laugh so much hahahah
no you right , everything you said makes sense, its like painting a portrait, before you can begin painting it you have to have an idea of how you want it to look in the back of your mind. same thing with creating music, keep the tips coming, cause they are helpful , even for me, ima oldschool rocker, meaning im from that era the 80s.
Hey y’all! As an upcoming artist it’s really difficult trying to navigate your way in the new age of music, but you guys make it so easy! Thank you so much for the guidance & the amazing tips😊 I’m def taking notes
I'm only 20 minutes in so far but this conversation is extremely engaging and full of gems! Subscribing, and going back through your channel to find similar content!
If you (Burstimo) really think you can break an artist from scratch, I dare you to find an artist and post videos on your channel as they break out. Highly Unlikely. 99% of people don't have good enough songs to break through no matter how much PR they put into it themselves. Any marketing hack won't make up for uninteresting songs.
Its suggestion to do a video on Harry styles marketing team. His brand was completly changed after 1d and thats good being both directioner and Harrie I like how his team has positioned him to mainstream media too. His brand is quite unique now than most if of the mainstream popstars. It would be verg usefull as marketing student to know abt it in more detail
Completely agree with all of this! Took me many years to figure all this out and find out the hard way to great expense, and the tips mentioned here for all platforms are spot on! 💯 even down to playing main support slot just before the headliner 👌🏼
Really helpful advice- thank you very much! I have followed your channel for a while and it's so interesting to see how things have changed in just a few months and understand how to adapt my approach 🎶
You guys are so on point! When it comes to picking a genre… tell my clients to imagine themselves at an awards show… what category do they see themselves being in..? If They don’t have an answer… there’s a problem with either the direction or even the producer that they’re working with.
Where do we find these UA-cam channels to submit to? And these Spotify cover song playlists? On my TikTok I’ve found originals so better than covers so far, although nothing seems to be getting my anywhere near 10,000 yet.
For those nervous to play or perform live, start with karaoke or open mic nights. Karaoke especially if you're a singer. Do songs that aren't yours at first so there's not as much pressure and get used to being in front of people. Doing this was revolutionary for me. Playing live is now my favorite thing.
We live in a two tier society in the music world… there are those with connections who can start with originals, and the rest of us have to play along and cover them until we break. It’s the new upper class vs working class.
Always helpful. Appreciate you guys. I know everyone keeps pushing the single game, but I’m ready to try at least an e.p. Because after all the effort of getting listeners to my Spotify, I want them to stick around for a few songs. With singles, Spotify sends them off to another artist after that track. Thoughts?
I’ve been away from music for about 20 years. It’s mind blowing how much has changed for new artists. It seems the artist now does absolutely everything themselves. What I’m trying to understand is what does a actually label do? And how would a songwriter not performer go about things?
Question for you guys: Can you at some point touch on how to change & improve your social media outreach if you've gotten started on the wrong foot? For example, having released something with no plan in place... Thanks!
Great video guys! Had a question, not sure if you guys touched on this in earlier videos, what kind of criteria would you go through in order to pick a musical genre to try and make it? Or, what kind of genres are good choices at the moment? Im assuming we would just look at the stuff thats trending right now? Thanks again for this massive explanation video :D
Y’all are so right! Hope this inspires someone because I’m releasing my 47th song this Friday and with a lot more excitement because I finally have some traction (40K monthly listeners) thanks to TikTok (1M followers)! Love the channel! Thanks for all the game! 👁 #MelloTakeTheWill
Maddy mentioned that when it comes to Tiktok you should really stick to only your music, unlike stories in Instagram. I was recently advised that Tiktok should compromise more than just music, so it doesn't feel so spammy/promotional and rather more like art and storytelling. I was told to really figure out who my audience is (their jobs, what they eat, their hobbies, etc) and create content around what my audience likes, which expands past music, if that makes sense? What do you guys think about that?
My personal view is to create content you like and then find the audience for it - not the other way around, otherwise it will feel like a chore and become unsustainable as you come to resent it. You may have heard of the 80-20 rule for content & I think it's a good tactic for all platforms. That is 80% on brand i.e whatever it is that you do/are selling and 20% random that helps people know more about the person. I've followed singers only to realise they only post selfies which eventually makes me feel 'why am I on your page if you rarely post musical content?' On the flip side as you mention, if it's all music music music then people don't feel like they're connecting with you!
Hey! Love your content, really educational stuff! Can you please make a video on ‘cross posting’? So posting on different platforms. Each platform like Insta/tiktok/UA-cam etc has their own algorithm/ way of doing things and I’ve always struggled to know how to balance it all and do a daily post for everything. Thank you! :)

Playing live is where the magic is at. Music is magic and it is one of the earliest things humans have done together as families and tribes.
