I have known Dave since school and allways kept in touch.I know nothing about shifters but if Dave has made it ,it will be spit on.Another bonus with Dave you wont find a more honest trustworthy bloke.I regularly go to his state of the art workshop ,its just full of comonsense.

What a beautiful shifter. I’ve had a Pro Sim for a couple years and it’s my favorite piece of hardware on my rig. I would really love to try one of these though.
Yeah the Pro-Sim is immense. I'd love to review one. I had one before but couldn't mount it to my rig
Great to hear you are enjoying the shifter. A caterham ironically is a great car to try this on, the shifters throw / gate are based on the Mazda 5 speed that is in modern race Caterham’s. FYI there is a 6th gear and also depending how Dave has set it up (left side or right side of gate) there is 2 additional gears accessed like old bmw manuals where you push (or pull) past a point of resistance to get into the additional gate.
Yeah I found more gears since this video was recorded :) didn’t know that about the Mazda 5 speeds :) I love h pattern but he caterhams as I did a league in them before and really loved how much I depended on good shifting and heel and toe.
@@LaurenceDusoswa yes absolutely you need to be on point with heel and toe in the sim (and also in real life) with the caterham. I worked with Dave to try and get the BDH shifter as true to my race car as possible, so I could practice in the sim due to living so far from the race tracks (north east scotland). Put lots of hours in with this shifter and subsequently won the caterham 270R championship in 2021. So it certainly gets my thumbs up. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Laurence, this shifter is 7+R. To get to the extra gears, you need to push the gear stick a bit more over to the left or right, depending on the orientation. It's a Honda style Reverse lockout.
Got it :) I did try to lift the gear stick but that didn’t end well 😂

Awesome review, I loved how you smiled everytime you used the shifter :D Speaks volumes about the quality of the shifter and shift fee. Just one note, to my knowledge based on the video from Karl Gosling and Douglas thompson this shifter should have 7+R gears.

This is one of the reasons I love the first impressions videos. It is difficult to mask or fake things when they go right or wrong. This all worked out great apart from my lack of homework about the mug, packaging and the extra gears :p

Unless the design has changed, you should be able to side mount it to the rig. Just need to loosen the clamps holding the bracket and rotate 90 degrees. Not sure if you need to mind the wires though.

No I dont...I use this H-pattern everytime I race...lol I use my Sequential a lot more though cause I like the Rally 1 cars a lot. ;)

Curious if the top c mounts on the shifter could be loosened and the assembly be rotated within the mount so it could be side-mounted to a rig. worth a try maybe?

For €1400 I would expect the bloody mug to be included for everyone, not just for the simfluencers.
We pay for the kit, you guys mostly don't - and no I don't have a problem with that as enables you guys to do the reviews.
haha I see where you're coming from. It was a personal touch from them for me because they watch my streams and I often enjoy a nice cuppa on stream :D
I'm not sure about this one. The Pro Sim actually has something to show for it for it's price tag. Custom board with hall effect sensors, basically never wears out, a more robust dual position reverse lockout and ability to set multiple tensions. This has a $2 Aliexpress button board and some low grade level switches with screw on gates. I get it's all custom machined etc but so is the Pro Sim. ProSim also has lockout options etc.
I'm sure it's a good product but not sure if this is where I would drop my money.

Does this shifter give you a little extra resistance mid-shift, to simulate the synchronizer feeling in real cars?

The problem with these shifters is: If you own one, you won't be able to tell your wife your hobby isn't _that_ expensive any more. She'll see. 😀
Plan B. Ditch the wife and build sim rig
The packaging is now a white cardboard box with very dense foam rather than the hardcase you received. Edit - No coffee mug either. Edit - It's a six speed with 2 options for reverse. I suppose you could use one of those for seventh gear if you needed it but the extra resistance to cross the gate is quite high.

It was born from Rallying and intended to simulate those epic transmissions of the 70s, 80's Rally Cars. Works well on track cars too.

It's not really a fair comparison for me because I haven't had the Pro-Sim on my rig in the same capacity. I've used it, but not reviewed it in my normal review format. Both are incredible.

No you can’t. I can’t do that with gearbox in my car either though. I’ve never seen a h pattern shifter with adjustable throw.

It’s a really tough one to justify. But we need products like this the same way we need Lamborghinis and Ferraris. We can enjoy the fact that they exist and share in the happiness of those who are fortunate enough to own them.

I like it but for over $1K and you don't get a gated shifter?
It’s not visibly gated but most shifters aren’t. I’m sure this unit can be dressed up to be more supercar-like but it’s supposed to be a pretty raw race car and trackday car style box
@@LaurenceDusoswa Ah ok and yeah they could sell a gated mod to go over the shifter boot as while rare is a desible feature in IRL cars... Also a long throw version would be nice to emulate old races cars(I think) and mustangs.
The gear gate is inside the shifter. Stick extension kit is available.
