I was eying this shifter as soon as I learned about it but your first video's with it won me over. And as you said it does what a shifter does but I have a similar experience as you have. Before I bought this BDH shifter I had the Simagic DS-8X shifter which I think has slightly better build quality than the Fanatec one and although in general it is a decent shifter I often had misshifts when shifting up from 2nd to 3rd and ending up in 1st gear. And so far I did not have a single misshift with the BDH shifter. Nice things don't come cheap and if someone can spend their money comfortable on a shifter like this I would definitely recommend it.
Great to read this comment as I’m currently looking at upgrading from my Simagic DS-8X to the BDH. Did you find much difference in noise from the shifter going to the BDH from the DS-8X?
@@nickylindon difficult to say. I had the tension of the Simagic turned up quite high to limit the misshifts (the lever centers beter on high tension so going from 2nd to 3rd had less misshifts with high tension) which also makes it a bit more noisy. I would say that the BDH doesn't make more noise, but in H pattern you hear sound from the entire movement while the simagic it is more the slotting into the end position that you hear the most. If that makes any sense :)
Just got the Simagic shifter today. I'm blown away by the P1000 pedals and Alpha Mini so I figured I'd complete the set and that 2nd to 3rd gear shift has me pissed! Can't remember when I missed any shifts with the Fanatec it replaced so I'm pretty cranky right now.
@@shaun4298 For me it really helped to turn the tension of the Simagic shifter up. Shifting will take a bit more effort but the tighter spring will help the shift from 2nd to 3rd.
Looks like a lovely bit of kit. I particularly like the collar switch, that's a great design! I only have a sequential shifter as I think having two separate shifters in any one rig is ergonomically awkward so the idea of these higher end shifters that can convincingly do both h pattern and sequential is nice. But somewhat predictably, 900 pounds is a bit rich for my blood, so my simjacks sequential will have to do 😂 Great vid!
I loved the V1 but since went to a Bash Pro active shifter. Can you review the Bash Pro from MVH sometime? I'd love your comparison. I absolutely love my Bash Pro, but also loved the BDH H1, would love to see them compared as I'm still tempted to get this new version .
@@frozezone22 looooooooove it. Makes hgpatter shifting so much more fun. You can change the gate delay too so for cars that have a slight delay before the gear engages can be replicated. I don't use that much but it's nice for when I miss a gear.
Absolutely great vid Dave! Honest question, which shifter, in your opinion, has the better, more authentic feeling for H-Pattern shifting between this one and the Pro--Sim Quaife? And if you had a Quaife would you sell it to get this one?
It's a beutiful looking shifter Dave. As you say nice things don't come cheap and it depends on how much immersion you want when sim racing. I would love to buy one but I would have to sell again it to be able to afford the resulting divorce settlement. 😂
Any chance there is a way to attach with the same bolt/attachment pattern as the Fanatec? I love my Fanatec Seq shifter, but it misses shifts entirely too many times to trust in a race. Very frustrating, it wasn't cheap.
Looking to order one, is the mounting hard to do that way on the side of the rig…do you need to make special adjustments and is there directions for that? Thanks and love the vids!!
Hi Dave - in your video the BDH appeared to be at least 2x louder than the Fanatec shifter (I’m not considering the addition clicks per movement just the overall volume / dB) - I’ve got to consider that I often race after the kids have gone to bed - would you agree that the BDH is significantly louder?
How is the sequential shifting compared to a dedicated sequential shifter? I mainly play rally games and mainly use SQ shifters, but want to switch to a dual shifter to save space
Fanatec deserves to burn for their random number generators falsely sold as h-pattern shifters. The BDH looks absolutely top shelf, but way out of my price range. So over a year ago, I bought a Japanese made Frex. It's h-pattern only, but absolutely solid. Modelled on one of the old Porsche Mulsanne monsters, the short throw, mechanical feel and reliability makes it my recommendation for h-pattern tragics for whom that sweet looking BDH is just too costly.
you said you failed to engage a gear if you didn't put the clutch in hard enough. is that a thing, you mean is it active? if you don't engage the clutch it doesn't shift? can you also blip it then? and it does that without any extra software?
That looks like an elegant shifter for a more civilised age.
I understood that reference,...I think I'm old
Not as clumsy or random as paddles.
That's a line I've not heard in a long time. Long time.
It truly is and we love it. Absolutely amazing

Dog-gone-it Dave, you sold me! Ordered one for yself from Podium1 here in NA. Looking forward to the buttery smooth action and precision
You'll love it 😁
I know I may be biased, but its an amazing piece of kit!! The team have done an amazing job!
They really have 👌

The looks alone is amazing! ❤
Looks and sounds amazing. Thanks for the review.
I would love to buy one, but it's a luxury and I unfortunately have to upgrade my PC first :(

How are you liking that shifter? I'm currently on the wait-list for it and seen a few videos and can't wait to purchase one

When humanity is long gone, only the remains of the pyramids and this shifter is what's left.
The Bash Pro says hello. 😁

Happy wife happy life. We need to keep that in mind at all costs 😁
Hey Dave, where is your vid Porsche Cup on Snetterton, wonderful turn 1 haha, was starting 1 place behind you 😀
Channel members have it already. It'll be out tomorrow 😁

Nope, dead easy if you have a profile rig 👍
I was interested until I saw it was almost $1400. I'll stick with my fanatec shifter. I do appreciate and love your videos tho!!

Yes, much much louder 👍
@@davecamyt Okay thank you. That will rule it out for me, at least for the time being. Thanks for the feedback.
I only have 6 slots on mine and can’t get it into 7th or 8th. Do you have any advice
You need to push or pull to the side (depending on which way around you have the shifter mounted) to engage the 2 other slots

It just feels like a seq shifter. 😁

I just need to calibrate my clutch properly that's all 😁
Yeah this is a clutch calibration issue.
Now I have to sell a car to build my sim. Ridiculous....lol
What the hell did you do to that beautiful Mustang already??
It needed a rear brake caliper, 4 new tyres and a service. Grand total just over £2000!
I sold it in February so won't have that issue again 😁
@davecamm Well that sucks.
👍
I dont like the fact that you have to wriggle to lock into sq mode.
$2000. wow
Hi Dave i'm building a real 1:1 F1 classic cockpit (mclaren). Can you pls advice me which is the best H pattern shifter?
This is easily the best one I've ever tried 👍
I'm designing a new rig as well. Please keep us posted on this build!
