"It ain't funny but it is" Spencer is a real character. I do like hearing Mike Davis talk about his stories too. And Jr is cracking up! Spencer is needed in NASCAR. We need A SPENCER!
my uncle, who wasn't even much of a NASCAR fan, back in the 90s somehow met, sat and talked to Jimmy Spencer at an airport... said how great of a guy he was. Have always remembered that story. r.i.p. uncle warren
Just imagine if RCR hired Spencer as Earnhardt's first teammate instead of Mike Skinner I bet they'd have done well together Excitement & Intimidation.
Years ago, some friends and I got full access passes to Talladega. While walking around the teams' big rigs, we saw Jimmy Spencer cooking hot dogs by his hauler. He was ripping a reporter a new one when we walked up. He stopped the interview, took the time to talk to us, and offered us a hot dog. After speaking for a couple of minutes and declining his offer for a 'dog, we went on our way and Mr. Spencer went back to a very animated (and colorful) conversation with the reporter. Good times and great memories- Thanks Jimmy!
Yep. NASCAR needs drivers like ol Spence. I can't name one that tells it like it is today. Maybe Newman but you hardly ever hear from him. The rest just cry and complain about who did what to them.
Dale and Mike I always love Jimmy Spencer he was a hell of a race car driver and then he had his show with ESPN fantastic thanks for the moment she brought me on your show
Met Jimmy at a bbq in Charlotte, very nice, stand up guy. Shook everybody’s hand and hung out for hours, having fun, telling stories! Mannnnny years ago. Thank you and be well.
LMAO this is great stuff we need more people to come on your show and tell more stories about stuff like this it's great. Nascar back in the day, memories tell it like it was. I'm a big fan and always will be. Thank you
Having grown up in upstate NY not far from the Bodine's I can tell you Brett is the only good one. To this day I will say Geoff is thee biggest prick I have ever met in racing don't care much for Todd either.
We used to hang out with Spencer back when they raced at Rockingham. Travis Carter had family in Rockingham and we would all hang out by the pig cooker telling stories. Very fond memories.
Great podcast with Jimmy. Miss him! He seems to remember things a lot differently than Mike at times. It’s funny how we see things the way we wanna see them. Wish they would have mentioned how Kurt Busch hascompletely changed from the early 2000s, early 2010s. Kurt deserves a shout out.
I'm really loving hearing these great stories from when I first started watching NASCAR. Those were the days. What a life Jr has led to grow up with all the oldies and the goodies, and the newer guys too.
I met spencer at watkins glen .i was like 12 .the older girls ventured off and came back to our site with jimmy freaking spencer!!! I remember i shook his hand and it felt like he crushed it! He stayed for hours playing beer pong.and dad made him some stiff drinks. then sunday shortly after the start his car blew a motor.. i figured it was a bit to do with a hangover 😂😂 i still remember that day like it was yesterday. Ty for a core memory mr spencer!! Edit.. that same weekend I watched dale jr in a teal suv just flying out of the glen and off to somewhere. Still Wonder where jr went
Listen to the full podcast - Jimmy reveals a few things. He believes he has Alzheimer's or at least is suffering the effect of repeated concussions. He talks about why he got out of broadcasting and now just enjoys his life with his wife and grandkids. It is kind of bittersweet. Reminds me of the last time I saw Sterling Marlin and how much Parkinson's has taken him over and he's still out there racing; I'm not sure Sterling could do a Dale Jr Download.
I named my cat Sterling after Sterling Marlin and Stirling Moss, lol. I remember Sterling Marlin running that Kodak car for Morgan McClure and it had some particular headers or something that made the car have a high pitched sound. The announcers called him "Nigel Marlin" as Nigel Mansell was in full swing in Formula 1 at the time. He won back to back D500's and went onto a good career, though to this day when a friend wants to leave the car at a bad time I still say "Stay in the car Sterling!" As for my cat, he was a big tuxedo longhair who was very laid back and only feared the vacuum cleaner. He went senile in the end and I had to euthanize him as he was no longer happy. I sat with him so he wouldn't die in a room full of strangers and it was the hardest thing I had done. I wish Mr. Marlin all the best, but I miss my cat.
@@Lasukie That was what I was going to say. I remember an old episode of what might have been Inside Winston Cup that featured Sterling using a metal detector to find relics on Civil War battlegrounds. No fancy stuff for that man. He is salt of the earth.
Absolutely love this show. Please keep up the good work Dale Jr. We love you man beyond words you connect so damn good with all of us fans of Nascar and the whole community.
I'm 26 years old, going on 27 in 2 months, and it is hard to look at mid 60's Jimmy Spencer versus when he was in his 40's when I started watching racing. Where do the years go man? It's hard to wrap my mind around.
I love Jimmy Spencer you need to everyone more often he’s a hell of a GYN. Handle you and Mike are pretty good too. I’ve sat here and watched everyone that you had with Jimmy Spencer on it and he just cracks me up. OK boys you’re doing a hell of a job too.
I grew up in Owego New York, road my bicycle to the track after the night milking…Shangri-La Speedway …..got to see a lot of the best racers and characters of the sport…..Jimmy was always a favorite….Dutch hoag was the man back then…..he really schooled the young drivers…we would sit in the trees in turn one outside the track waiting for them to wreck in turn three or four ……then when all eyes were looking at that end of the track we would charge across the track into the pits…..that place made me a racing fanatic….not just a fan…..hearing Jimmy talking just brought all those great childhood memories flooding back….. I really love listening to this show…. Thank you for all the hard work it takes to put this video out… Side note my Dad was a Geoffrey Bodine fan….so I had to raze my dad and chose someone he hated….because Dale and Geoffrey were like water and oil… That’s how I became a Dale Earnhardt Fan…. And then a Dale Jr. Fan….
Jimmy was racing at Reading, Pa. Back in the 70's, was always friendly and very successful. I was a neighbor to Hal Browning and worked on Jack Carroll's modified. We were all happy to see Jimmy get a chance at the big time racing, but it just seemed that the fans didn't accept him from the get-go. I like to hear about him, especially the interviews with Jr.
This was really good and i hope Dale got some closure on what he said bc that was really rotten what he said and I really do think Jimmy is sorry for saying it.
Good podcast! Always enjoyed listening to JS. Never thought this would happen and I learned a few new things. Good for you for getting him on and letting him tell his side of the story.
Jimmy laughing during Mike's telling of the Donut story is my favorite part.
That was hilarious🤣🤣
Omg then the porta potties being locked and sprays the toilet paper with gasoline
"It ain't funny but it is" Spencer is a real character. I do like hearing Mike Davis talk about his stories too. And Jr is cracking up! Spencer is needed in NASCAR. We need A SPENCER!
Spencer should replace Gordon in the Booth
you should have heard the first part of it that isn't on here
Man when Mike and Jimmy share stories they both become the most likable people in the room. That’s a hell of a interview.
Jimmy Spencer wasn’t necessarily a “no good sob”… he just had opinions that differs from the mainstream eye… Definitely something to respect
Mr. Excitement speaks his mind and everyone listens except the status quo figures.
Same as Tony Stewart. But Tony Stewart backed his mouth on the race track
Like trump
my uncle, who wasn't even much of a NASCAR fan, back in the 90s somehow met, sat and talked to Jimmy Spencer at an airport... said how great of a guy he was. Have always remembered that story. r.i.p. uncle warren
Characters and personalities like Jimmy are what made NASCAR great.
Just imagine if RCR hired Spencer as Earnhardt's first teammate instead of Mike Skinner I bet they'd have done well together Excitement & Intimidation.
You wonder why that didn’t happen!
I wonder if he would have called him a “no good s.o.b.” like he did Todd Bodine
Imagine those two getting in a fight lol
@@wev2344 Jimmy seemed to be pretty loyal to Travis Carter. He drove for him for the majority of his career.

I do not think I have ever laughed harder then when watching this excerpt. Can not wait to listen to in its entirety. Please bring Spencer back.
Yes absolutely. The best I've ever seen
Jimmy Spencer wasn’t a no good SOB, he was a tough SOB that you don’t cross
Yep. NASCAR needs drivers like ol Spence. I can't name one that tells it like it is today. Maybe Newman but you hardly ever hear from him. The rest just cry and complain about who did what to them.
Greg Biffle literally ran away from Boris Said one time.
@@dimedraweriv258 Yep, I remember that! Boris was like "Somebody needs to give him a friggin' whoppin'!"
@G Money Sorry, but Proof please. I will literally have to see that to believe it.

Dale and Mike I always love Jimmy Spencer he was a hell of a race car driver and then he had his show with ESPN fantastic thanks for the moment she brought me on your show
Why NASCAR will never be the same, no Dale Sr and guys like Jimmy Spencer and others of that era.
Kenny Schrader, sterling marlin, rusty, terry, etc etc The quote un quote good ole boys miss all of them
@@kbentjg24 pretty much every driver that started before 2002 had such unique personable personalities. There were a few after that but not really

I can't even remember the last time I have enjoyed 16 minutes and 27 seconds like this.... laughed harder than I have in years..... great job guys....
The laughing is contagious 😂😂🤣this was a great download 👍
Jimmy is the definition of what you call Real. He said what he meant and meant what he said
Can Jimmy have a weekly-Nascar segment on this podcast? 🤣🤣 I love this guy

The best series EVER!!! Jimmy Spencer was the best you've ever had on here. PLEASE HAVE HIM ON AGAIN
Hey Dale that was the best show ever. Love Spencer he's crazy
Mike you and Jimmy had some fun times with car owner Henry. Great stories.
Did that guy get his autograph after the punch?

No Doubt, wish his show was still on. have to have "Mike" on
you are right brother ! long live Spencer! he is definitely part of the glory day boys !
He's a dandy, that's for sure- these kids they have now reminds me of a Weebalo troup

"Radiooooo Sweetheart"
That would be top tier content.
The moment Mike said “Ex-lax” at 4:28 is when I lost it 😂😂😂😂because I knew where that story was going 😂😂😂
Love the stories. Jimmy is awesome. Invite him again please
That's funny to me that Mike & Jimmy had such a crazy history together!
This podcast had me smiling from beginning to end! Lol, good stuff!

Yep, that's Jimmy Spencer. He was/is a great guy. Extremely loyal.
@Alex Carter you know nascar was founded by some and that HOF member Junior Johnson is one right?
I was a long time fan ...I believe if he hadn't been so loyal to Travis Carter, he may have won a few more.
@Alex Carter Well hello snowflake.
Hilarious! Jimmy and Mike cracked me up topping each other’s stories. Good ole days.
Jimmy Spencer, my favorite . I wanted him to win every race.
That next race Jimmy was suspended from the track, his souvenir trailer had 5 times the crowd. it was longer than Dale Jr's souvenir trailer.
After he taught Kurt Busch a lesson at Michigan.
First thing that comes to mind was the Free Mongo sign 😂
