    Dear Blair Gardiner:
I’m truly amazed, with the terrific success you are having with aquatic plants; especially Alternanthera reineckii. I’ve never had it stay red, or survive, for long. You are keeping aquatic plants healthy, with gravel and sand substrates; and I don’t see any algae.
I may have to rethink what I’m doing. I’ve been capping potting soil, with coal slag. I even run CO2, in one of my, 75-gallon tanks. I’m having algae issues, in several tanks and minimal success, with aquatic plants.
Thank you for sharing this, terrific look at your aquaria.
    All my best,
    Sincerely,
    new subscriber,
    E. J. Brinegar

E.J. Thanks for the comment and the subscription as well. I appreciate the support of my small channel. I've seen a few people using potting soil as the nutrient layer but I've never tried it myself. Everything I've heard is that you have to have a thick layer to cap the nutrients and keep it out of the water column. The guppy tank was my first real attempt at aquascape with live plants so I'm glad you like it.
