Hey everyone thanks for watching! I find that these controls work well with the Il-2 and JU87 B-2 aircraft but find that they are really bouncy with the fighter planes. Most notably when adjusting your yaw. I think this is a bug in how the rudder reacts to this set up, as it feels the plane its trying to pull you back the other way for some reason. I was able to mitigate this to a degree by setting the extra deadzone on the rudder to 40 and the non-linearity slider to 4. I'm not gonna lie its still brutally bouncy left/right on the yaw but it at least makes the plane controllable to a degree. I will keep up to date with any progress I make once I get the planes unlocked again. The campaigns have been restructured to unlock the fighters first, so I will do my best to get the controls smoothed out asap.
Just as an update in addition to the tweaks to the controls I mention above I added auto prop pitch and auto radiator to up on the directional pad as well so everything is turned on at the same time. I havent found a way to smooth out the fighter controls as of yet but I plan to gather some video and contact Darkflow about a possible solution to the rudder issue. I am convinced the rudder is bugged as all other controls seem to work as they should. I will keep you all updated with any progress I make on this. One other thing I found helped with the fighter planes is to clear off the rudder controls altogether and fly without it but this poses its own challenges lol I haven't progressed enough to unlock the next set of planes yet but these controls worked well on them during the closed beta, and I have confidence that they still should.
@@GoToGaming Hey buddy, I love your videos and If your ever looking for someone to run enlisted with send me a msg, If you need help to test stuff for future videos let me know! gt is cellus2k3.
Hey, man, I have the same trouble with the rudder using your configuration, I guess it is a bug indeed. Please keep the great job you are doing and make more updates about the solution as soon as possible. Thank you!
Thank you both for the kind words! I've been playing a bit sporadically as of late as I have been working on some plans I have for the channel, but if something comes up I'll let ya know for sure! And yes I will keep everyone up to date as soon as I have any more info, this is a very frustrating bug lol
I'm glad I was able to help! I love flying so was determined to find something that worked at least somewhat better than the pointer control... soon as I did, I had to share it cause I knew I couldn't be the only one lol Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much I appreciate that! I’m glad I was able to help ya, I knew I couldn’t have been the only one frustrated with the pointer control lol Thanks for the sub, and for watching!
I'm glad I was able to help! The pointer control drove me nuts when I first started playing this, and I was determined to come up with a better configuration... I knew I couldn't be the only one so I had to post it lol Thanks for watching!

@@Hugie-rz2kl You can actually ignore the trim settings altogether for now, I found out after making this video that they don’t appear to be attached to anything and are bugged… the fact that I don’t invert them should have been my first clue that they were working properly lol it just released on PS4 and Xbox One about a month ago but released on the Series X/S about a year ago now… I’m glad I was able to help though!

Very Helpful I'd love to see your setup guide for tanks iv had so much trouble in general controlling the movement. More so with the Axis light tank as it is wheel based not track. Keep up the good work 👍
Thank you very much I appreciate that! I do plan on doing a tank setup video, but unfortunately I’m having the same issues as you atm, and I am hoping they add some similar options to what they have for the planes, as I have not found a way to bypass the pointer control on the tanks yet. As soon as I can get a solid setup for ya I’ll post up a video tho. One thing I have found helps is set the extra dead zone on the left stick a little higher for the tank movement, and also set the axis snap setting up a little higher. I found by bringing the axis snap up a bit the wheeled tanks stay a bit straighter and don’t turn so violently while trying to drive a straight line. Hope this helps a little at least, and as soon as they can give me some more options to play around I’ll see what I can come up with!
Thank you very much I appreciate that! I think the rudder is still bugged (at least it was last I played, which makes the smaller planes react violently to rudder adjustments) but I personally still find this setup much better than the pointer control lol Glad I was able to help!
I have a problem that I hope to find a solution for. I have adjusted a lot of settings and everything is fine, but there is a problem when I get on the plane. The camera view is very, very close to the plane's aiming circle, even when riding in any vehicle, unlike before I wish to respond
Leave the throttle and shoot etc the way it is but set the rudder elevator and aileron settings as I show in the video and it should work for ya... make sure to enable the joystick mode tho or it will keep the white pointer circle locked and pull you back to that constantly. Unfortunately you have to enable joystick mode every time you hop in the plane... I hope this helps, but if you have something specific you need help with I will do my best to help...
Thanks only thing is my plane slowly tilts to the left, when i don't press anything, don't seem to get this drift otherwise, tried increasing the deadzone but that doesn't work
I have noticed this as well, I believe it has something to do with the trim settings, which I believe are bugged at the moment. I did a bunch more research after this video and found out that the trim settings on a plane are for keeping it level and offsetting the rotation caused by the engine/prop. After lots of testing I've determined that the trim settings don't appear to be tied to anything, and in my new video I leave them out of the equation all together. My theory is that when in pointer control mode the trim is dealt with automatically, keeping the plane level. Hopefully this is being fixed along with the rudder, it would be nice to see an auto trim option added to the menu to go along with the auto prop pitch, but time will tell what they decide to do. If I can find a way to get the trim settings working properly, or any other way to mitigate this issue I will let you know for sure!
As far as I can tell this is a bug with the rudder and has been a thorn in my side for months now lol This is most noticeable in the smaller fighter planes, and is a bit easier to deal with in the bombers. I have brought this up to the developers on their forum which I cover in my newer flight controls video, but they still have yet to release a fix for it. They did say they were working on it however. I am going to inquire again today to see if there has been any progress. I'm glad the controls have helped a bit at least, fingers crossed they fix the rudder soon! Thanks for watching!
One thing i dont get. How did you let your circle of point control move with your plane once turned of? My plane keeps going straight because that white aim circle stays lockt
You have to set the "Screen Joystick Mode" keybind in the lower half of the settings, I set this to up on the directional pad, and you have to enable this every time you hop in the plane otherwise it defaults to pointer control. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
I’m still tweaking my vehicles controls, it seems like there are some missing options... as soon as I get things sorted out tho I will definitely post something up!
I followed this pretty closely but on the Tunisia campaign I’m having issues on the allied side the nose doesn’t wanna fly down and when I do a nose dive parts of the plane break…. Any advice
I can honestly say I haven’t checked out the Tunisia campaign as of yet so I’m not familiar with the planes there, but I will check them out tomorrow and see if I can recreate your issue and come up with a fix if possible.
To whom it may concern, I need radical change in Control Settings while using Plane, so that I can control, aim and navigate the plane using mouse and controlling from keyboard, to shoot attack and check mapping properly.. Many thanks & Regards..
Please help if anyone can!: I tried these settings, along with tweaks of my own (I forgot Elevator and Rudder trim; maybe that's why it was still wildly out of control?), but I want to go back to trying Pointer Aim mode again to see the difference, and see if I can somehow get used to it. I'm on regular Xbox One, with a normal controller, btw. The problem is, after trying these settings, when I reset to default, and put Pointer Aim back on in options, it no longer works! There's a very, very subtle movement up and down on the RS, but it's basically locked in place going forward. I can roll using ailerons, and use the throttle, but that's basically is as far as movement. I can't turn or anything! (Due to basically not being able to tilt the nose of the plane up or down. Setting elevator to RS, overwrites Pointer Aim, not that it's working anyway). Then, no matter what I do with the Pointer Control setting in Plans options, it still doesn't work. I can set it back to Screen Joystick mode from Options, but then my plane is wildly out of control when I go to fly, as if a toddler took the controller and just rolled the sticks all around making plane noises, if that makes sense LoL. Does anyone know what might be wrong or how to fix this? I'm worried that I have a weird bug, and now I essentially can't fly. I fear that the responses will be "Idk, mine works fine when I switch it back. That sucks", though maybe that's the only answer anyone is able to give, idk lol. I thought I'd ask her as a near last-resort! Thanks in advance! [EDIT]:. I just realized that I posted this on the older video; I'll repost it in the updated one also!
@@straweater4464 *UPDATE*: I think I found the culprit! Hopefully this will help you too! I reset the controls to default again, and this time in the settings tab labelled "Main", there's a setting called "Plane view mode sensitivity multiplier". I set it to the max of 5 after uninstalling and reinstalling the game (you may not have to reinstall), and finally got control back in my Pointer Aim! I made sure that "Plane Control Mode" in OPTIONS (not "Controls") was set to Pointer Aim also. I thought that setting would only be for looking around your plane when holding RB, but apparently not! Idk how I missed it before, or maybe the setting changed itself at some point and I didn't notice; I'm not sure. I thought only clicking on "Pointer Aim" inside of the PLANE tab and messing with the sensitivity inside that would change it, but apparently not. Inside there, it's still set at sensitivity 1, but I might try messing with that whole the multiplier from the "Main" tab is maxed at 5, and see how it responds. Let us know if that works! EDIT:. On the updated video of this on his channel, I had posted this same message, and he was helping to troubleshoot it over there. Hopefully you'll see the comment there too, and some of the things he was mentioning might work for you if this didn't!
Do you mean how do you get the plane into battle? or how to get into the practice mode? Once you reach the required level in each campaign you will unlock an airborne squad which you can then add to your active squads through the manage squads menu. Once they have been added to your active roster, on the soldiers tab hit X on Xbox or Square on Playstation, and it will bring up the game mode selection menu where you can choose the training mode to practice with the plane. I hope this helps, but if not let me know and I will do my best to help further!
This helped immensely but with all the patches I think an updated more in depth video would be even better please! For example, we don’t need to press up anymore for joystick mode, it can be set as default. I also matched up the deadzone on all my sticks but the plane still bounces like mad. I also stall out and have no idea why…
I will have to admit I haven’t been playing a ton of Enlisted lately but I will have to load it up and check through the settings again! That’s good to know that they have made a default setting for screen joystick mode that was brutal lol I tried out the rudder settings last week and they seemed better but still bouncy like you mentioned… they had said they were working on a fix for it but I haven’t seen anything come through yet… that being said I will have to fire up the game and take a look, I had been considering making an updated video once things had changed a bit, so sounds like it might be time! Thanks for the heads up!
@@GoToGaming no no, thank you so much for such a quick response and updates too. That’s really awesome to see! I’d greatly look forward to the insight on your next video 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Do you mind if I ask which platform you are on? I was just on Enlisted and I couldn't seem to find the setting you mentioned for making screen joystick mode mode a default option... I'm curious if the advanced settings are only on pc so far? Also, I just posted on their forum again about the bouncy rudder, hopefully we get some answers about that soon lol
@@GoToGaming No worries! I play on the Xbox Series X with a few buddies. The game also seems to have pushed some serious SBMM in recent weeks... We've lost 15 matches in a row now after dominating previously. Anyway, yup, the planes still bounce like trampolines. I'd be happy to help if you need anything else!
Oh ok Series X so we are on the same platform… where did you find the setting for default screen joystick mode? I went through the menus and couldn’t seem to find it… might have to try resetting my controls to default to see if any new options pop up… in regards to the bouncy rudder I posted on their forum again and they have said that they are still working on it so hopefully we see a fix soon.
Subbed! The quality of my flying has improved from seconds to minutes. I still struggle a lot with the rudder, the slightest movement on my left stick jerks the plane either left or right, making it spin out of control no matter what I do; despite facing 50+ opponents in a game, controlling my own plane seems to be the toughest struggle every match. Personally I am a great fan of the BF1 flight controls, been trying to replicate those but making a 1:1 copy seems impossible due to the rudder situation. I read your other comments and forum post but it seems like the devs are either taking their time or not sure what to do. Would adding actual sensitivity sliders in addition to the deadzone sliders in each individual axis setup make a difference? Us pilots can only hope. Nevertheless, cheers and have a good one mate
I appreciate the sub! I’m glad I was able to get ya this far at least and hopefully they figure it out soon. Your suggestion I think would help a lot, having individual sliders for sensitivity would most likely work, although it almost seems like the rudder doesn’t fully disengage from the pointer control, and it wants to listen to your inputs and follow the cursor at the same time. Not sure why it overcompensates so violently though lol Either way it’s super frustrating lol
You are the second one to point this out, good catch! Lol by rights yes, they should need to be inverted, but since making this video I have found that the trim settings don’t seem to be bound to anything, as the plane became unresponsive when using only the trim, and I believe I gave myself the placebo effect a little bit there thinking that setting was helping. The fact that I missed the inversion on that setting should have been my first clue that they weren’t working lol Also just a heads up, the rudder is still bugged, (or at least was the last I checked) so you’ll notice it reacts violently to slight adjustments… I posted on their forum about these issues but have not seen a fix come out yet. Fingers crossed they are working on it!
When I adjust the elevator trim to the same binds as the elevator should I also make the trim invert axis? You didn’t show or mention that in the video
You make a good point lol I'm finding more and more as I'm making my way through the game that the trim controls don't seem to be connected to anything, as clearing off the elevator and rudder controls and only leaving the trim left my plane unresponsive. When I made this video, I was under the belief they were helping but at this point I believe I gave myself the placebo effect lol by rights yes, the trim should also be inverted and that should have been my first hint they weren't working properly lol hopefully this gets addressed in future updates.
I’m currently working on a new version of this video, with a few tweaks here and there but I also noticed that about the elevator last time I played, seemed like it was super heavy with little response… unfortunately I believe this is another new bug in how the plane is reacting, as it seemed fine before… unless they have changed the mechanics of certain planes to make em more realistic? Possible I guess lol The rudder bug is still alive and well I see also lol I’ve posted a couple times about the rudder and they insist they are working on a fix, so with any luck they address the elevator as well while they are under the hood of the planes. Unfortunately I still find this game to be very buggy (menu bug is preventing me from filming version 2 of this video lol) but it is in beta after all, so fingers crossed they get it all sorted out in due time.
@@GoToGaming it only seems to be certain planes, mostly fighter planes I've noticed. I'm using them then next thing I know is I cant pull up.. causing plane to plummet to ground.. I like this setup as it gives more control over plane and can turn quicker.. just recent update kind of has me playing with pointer mode again and it is really slow compared to this...
@@bobt2094 Ya see that's what I thought as well, was that it was mainly the fighter planes I was having an issue with... the IL-2 wasn't too bad but that plane feels sluggish in general so I tend to compensate for it. I haven't progressed very far to unlock many planes though, I tend to enjoy Enlisted in short spurts lol It's funny with the fighters though... the roll is soooo fast, the rudder is almost unusable and the elevator feels like it weighs 1000 pounds lol They have mentioned a few times now that a major update is on the way, so with any luck it will be addressed and we can get some control back over our planes. You're brave going back to pointer control, I could never keep my plane in the air for more than 30 seconds lol I will def keep my eye on this though, and if I find anything that I think might help I will let you know for sure!
@@GoToGaming I've just been playing with the settings on practice and ive found that changing the settings on non linearity helps a little bit... from 0.16 to 0.30 I've found the planes a little more responsive so I'm guessing setting non linearity to 0% actually disables something that helps control planes. Dont know if this will help anyone.
@@GoToGaming I have also found that clearing gunner aim option helps me with aiming, bullets go where the circle is on screen, distant targets use the bottom of the circle to shoot targets, mid range use centre of circle and close use the top part of circle. .. its bizarre but it works as I'm finding I can hit targets on ground more frequently as the bullet spread is wider for some reason.
I will do one for the tanks as soon as I can figure out a way to clear the pointer control, I've been struggling with them also... so far it seems like there are some missing options within the vehicle settings page, so hopefully the devs add in some more settings in the near future.
Man I couldn't use the elevators in pointer mode, so I kept crashing I. The tutorial and got frustrated. With these settings I'm one step ahead than before, but when I try and turn, I spin uncontrollably towards the ground. I'm on Xbox one S, any clue how I can fix this?
Do you have screen joystick mode set in the options menu, as well as to up on the directional pad within the plane menu by chance? If both are set the plane freaks out and tends to act in the manner you mention... If you are only using one option or the other, which plane are you using specifically so I can try to help further?
I'm just glad it's working a bit better for ya now... I hope lol the controls in this game still need some work lol Let me know if you have any other questions!
Hmmm that's actually a very good question I haven't messed with the lean controls to be completely honest, but that sounds like something I can mess with over the next couple days... My first thought while looking at them would be to set some sort of modifier button then use the left stick to lean... just an untested theory but possibly set the modifier to left trigger that way when you aim you lean as opposed to move? I'll get back to ya when I can figure something out for sure cause I'm curious about this now as well lol
Ok so I've been messing with the lean controls and the best I've been able to come up with that is somewhat comfortable is to move the "next grenade type" to directional right on fast press (make knife double tap) then set left and right lean to lb and rb, then lastly head over to the view tab and clear off the view bind. I tried having it set a modifier with the left stick, first with left trigger then left stick click but I found it seemed unstable.
Sorry but yours settings seems doesn't work for me. Every time i try to maneuver my aircraft the visual seems TRYING at any cost to remain locked towards the previos direction, as if the pilot desperately try to look at the original vector of the plane. I swear i've followed ALL your steps. Any idea what's could be the problem? Many thanks.
Did you set your screen joystick mode to a button and hit it every time you get in a plane? It automatically resets to pointer control as default when you first jump in. If you have followed the steps it should be set to up on the directional pad for ya, so just tap that once when you spawn in and you should be good to go! Word of warning they still have not fixed the bugged rudder so the rudder controls will feel strange but you get used to it to a degree over some time. Hopefully this helps, if not feel free to ask and I will do my best to help further!
@@GoToGaming LOL sorry, i don't know why i jumped this part of your instruction. Now it works! About the rudder bug: i've choosed another solution: i mapped the rudder on LT/RT for left and right. I know this way i lost analogic control on it but it's the only way i can fly an airplane with xbox pad. I'll let you know the results.
All good just glad I could help! Ya please do I’m interested in seeing how that works! Ive honestly just been avoiding the rudder altogether which brings it’s own issues of course lol I’ve been hoping for a fix for a while now, I’m really gonna have to post on their forum again lol
Can you please do tank controls next! It is the same issue with the pointer controls I think. How I point to my target but it takes forever for the turret to get where I’m looking and it messes me up a lot. There are so many controls but it seems it’s missing some of the most important ones, like while zooming in while in a tank there is no option to make sensitivity lower, so trying to make long shots with my tank I have to very lightly move my stick and it’s hard to line up. Also driving a tank through curves is super hard and I find myself going sideways while my turret faces where I want to go. For now when o have to move I sit in the driver seat since it doesn’t have that issue, and then switch to my main gunner when I need to. I wish there was just a simple toggle to lock looking with movement
I have been trying to mess with the tank controls because I completely agree, the pointer control is messing with me there as well... I also agree that there are some missing options in that tab and I can't seem to get it sorted out yet.. I feel like you should have control over the turret itself and not point to where you want it to shoot and then wait 30 seconds for the turret to catch up. Fingers crossed Darkflow adds some more options in there soon. As soon as I can get something sorted out though I will definitely throw a video up to help ya out.
@@GoToGaming thank you, and to be clear I’m not complaining about the turret speed lol, I just think that where I “look” should be where my turret is pointing, no matter how long that takes to turn, I just don’t like being able to look where my turret isn’t, it messes me up because in the heat of battle I find myself shooting where my pointer is and forgetting I need to wait for the turret to catch yp
Feels like with or without the settings my plane just spazzes out via overcorrecting, I absolutely loved BF3-4 plane controls and was very good at flying in there but no matter what I do I just feel like I cant even manage to get a good sight on the field to use my guns let alone rockets..
I believe the rudder is currently bugged, I have posted on their forum about it and they said a fix is coming but I have yet to see it. It seems most apparent on the fighter planes, and the planes further into the campaigns seem a little easier to control. I tend to avoid the rudder at the moment which comes with its own issues lol I sometimes find that lowering your gear (if the plane comes equipped) gives some extra drag and slows down the rudder slightly but hopefully they implement the fix asap.
It’s been a long time since I had my BFV settings at default but if I remember correctly you should be able to leave most settings like the throttle and shoot settings as they are but make all other adjustments that I mention in the video like your ailerons, rudder, elevator flaps etc and you should be good to go. Most importantly make sure to set the screen joystick mode option to an unused button ( I used up on the d pad ) and hit it as soon as you get into a plane, and every time. Unfortunately it defaults back to pointer control every time you spawn. Hope this helps, but if there is something specific you need a hand with let me know and I’ll do my best to help!
@@GoToGaming thanks mate, my main problem is when I’m flying and trying to aim my rudder is so sensitive and just sends me off target like crazy, I’ve tried adjusting my deadzone but it’s still kinda ass
It’s driving me nuts as well, I posted on their forum about it and they said a fix was coming but I have yet to see it. I’m assuming you are in one of the fighter planes? It seems much worse in those… the second planes that you unlock on the Moscow campaign are still bad but much more manageable. I may have to post again asking for an update on when this will be dealt with. I’ve personally been avoiding the rudder altogether unless I’m on long banking turns, because ya trying to give it the slightest adjustment while aiming is brutal lol
The rudder is currently bugged which is why it is probably throwing you left and right violently, you can try raising the extra deadzone settings on the rudder I found it helped a little, but these controls work best once you move past the fighter planes to the il-2 and ju-87b2. Im hoping for a fix from Darkflow at some point, I posted about the bug on their forum. Hopefully this helps, if you have anything specific you need help with feel free to ask I will def do my best to help.
@@lilpaxx3477 ya if you head back into the rudder option you should see extra deadzone and non-linearity sliders, max them both out, I think the deadzone goes to 40 and non- linearity to 4. I'm still not 100% convinced that the non-linearity slider does anything, but its what I've been using the past couple of days. Its still brutal with the rudder adjustment but its slightly better. For the default look sensitivity, I'm assuming you mean in the look option in the plane tab? If so then default is 1.
Alright, I have submitted a post on the Enlisted forum in the bug reports section regarding this issue, if anyone else who watches this has an account on their forum consider adding your own experiences on to mine because if we get enough people talking about it, it may become more of a priority to them and we can get this sorted asap and can all get back to flying properly! forum.enlisted.net/t/rudder-controls-for-fighter-planes-acting-erratic-with-screen-joystick-mode-configuration/5786
These definitely feel like a more familiar set up but I have a question. Before my plane wouldn’t rock left and right, now it seems near impossible to keep my shot straight even without pressing a button. Did you encounter this and if so how do I fix it?
Ya unfortunately the rudder is bugged which makes the planes (most notably the fighters, doesn't seem as bad with the larger planes) rock back and forth left and right with this configuration. A few things I've tried is to bring the rudder deadzone and nonlinearity sliders up a bit, seems to help slightly, also if the plane has gear equipped you can lower that to add a bit of drag and again get a slight increase in control. I have posted on their forum about this and they say a fix is coming but I have yet to see it. I also posted asking for an update so hoping for the fix soon lol I personally try to avoid the rudder when aiming for now and only use it while doing long banking turns. Hopefully this helps a little at least, really hoping they fix this soon.
No problem at all! When I hear more about the fix or if I can come up with anything else I’ll let you know! This bug drive me nuts cause the controls are so close to being what they should be but then that rudder just throws ya right off lol
Hmm, you may have missed a setting, just so I can help better are you going for the throttle on the triggers? Or leaving as default on the sticks? If on the stick, double-check that it didn't get cleared off and if it did set the throttle axis to up and down on the left stick. If going for triggers, clear off the axis, and then bind the Left trigger to Decrease Throttle and Right to Increase Throttle. If you have it set like this and it is still giving you issues let me know and I will do my best to help!
This really has helped with general flying but the issue I’m running into now with these settings is aiming. When I’m coming in on a target it’s hard to keep steady. Any ideas or tips?
Ya I would have to agree it is still tough to control... you may wanna adjust the extra deadzone settings within the aileron elevator and rudder settings, should help a bit. Ive been hunting for a way to smooth them out a bit more but it may be a limitation of the current state of development. Im hoping Darkflow makes some tweaks to the plane mechanics with controllers in mind. I hope this helps, but if I find a more solid answer for ya I will keep you updated for sure.
Ok so I did a bunch of testing and messing around last night and as far as I can tell I'm pretty sure the rudder is bugged. I unlocked the I-153 M-62 last night and that thing is almost uncontrollable due to how the rudder reacts. I was able to mitigate this to a degree by cranking the extra deadzone of the rudder to the maximum of 40, and the non linearity slider at 4 also seemed to help a bit... But the rudder controls still are super sensitive and bouncy, like they wanna over correct every move you make left -right. I will be working towards unlocking the planes again today now that the open beta has started, and I see they have swapped the I-153 M-62 and il-2's placement in the campaign so I will do my best to figure out something that works well for it lol
Great guide! Quick question though, when I try to “Look Around” using the configuration in the video the rudder of the plane still moves with the white circle and I slam into the ground. What am I doing wrong? It almost feels like the “Screen Joystick Mode” is bugged. Is there a prompt on screen when I click up on the D-Pad? Thank you!
Do you mean when you hold rb to look it still rolls the plane? I’ve found this as well, and believe it is yet another bug that needs to be addressed... it seems when the modifier is hit it doesn’t unbind from the regular controls... I may have to make another post on their forum. I found this as well with the soldier controls, as I have been messing with the lean settings the past couple days, and it reacts the same kind of way. Only way I’ve been able to get around this is just to do quick looks and be mindful of your angles... hopefully screen joystick mode gets some love from the devs in the next couple of updates, and I’ll keep ya posted if I can get this sorted out any further. I’m glad you enjoyed the video tho, thanks for watching!
@@GoToGaming yes that is correct. Relieved to know it’s a bug and I set up the controls correctly. I’ve noticed a lot of bugs when setting custom controls on console recently. I ended up completely unbinding the “view” controls in the “view” tab as it also seems to affect the tank and solider views at times. Game is still in beta so it’s understandable. Keep up the great work!
The flying is still terrible even after all these settings. Its something inherit with the game thats causing me to spin out of control and nose dive. Removing pointer control simply disables the ability to look in the direction of the plane, making it impossible aim.
Ya the game def needs some further development that’s for sure… just to confirm, have you set screen joystick mode to a button (I used up on the directional pad) and toggle it every time you jump in a plane? If not it stays on pointer control as default and will return to the circle every time you attempt to maneuver the plane… screen joystick mode locks your view essentially down the sites of the plane. In my newer video I mention that this has been changed slightly, as you are now able to set screen joystick mode as default in the game options menu. I still tap up on the directional pad though, as I have also set that to auto prop pitch and auto radiator. Another thing I’ve noticed, if you have set the instructor option in the plane menu and toggle that while flying I’ve found the chances of losing control go up dramatically for some reason and have not found any advantage to using it… hopefully this helps a bit, but if you have any other questions let me know and I will do my best to help!
Real talk.. I got into a plane the first time yesterday and I thought that I didn’t need a pre-flight practice to figure out how to fly.. I figured that it would be easy to do on console... mind you, that’s all I did in battlefield, war thunder.. ect ect... . Oh boy was I wrong... I had absolutely NO IDEA how to work pointer control and it absolutely made zero sense. I flew around for 10 minutes doing my absolute best to keep level... it felt as if the plane was SEVERELY damaged and I had to craddle it the entire time.. . Just letting go of the controls made you plummet like a rock let alone how wild I had to pull on pitch or yaw just to keep level.... Whoever designed the controls for console needs to be moved somewhere else because that was absolutely disgusting.
I felt the exact same way lol did this configuration work any better for ya? It’s still not perfect and needs some attention from the devs but I have been trying to bring it to their attention… hopefully a fix is coming soon for the last few quirks lol hopefully this has helped tho, thanks for watching!
@@GoToGaming I haven't yet been able to try your configuration yet. If it resembles battlefield, I'm sure it will work just fine. I'll let you know when I get some time at the end of this week away from work.
Did you set your screen joystick mode to a button (I used up on the directional pad) and hit it every time you get into a plane to enable screen joystick mode? If not it remains on pointer control and will come back to that center circle every time. I explain this in the video when I mention how it’s the most important setting. Hope this helps
This game does not make flying easy that is for sure! lol I find these controls help me get the plane feeling a lot more familiar but they come with their own quirks as well... hopefully I was able to help a little at least lol Thanks for watching!
That rudder bounce? ya it's brutal lol Fingers crossed that fix is coming sooner than later... Unless you are stuck with the pointer circle in the center of your screen, with the plane constantly returning to it... if this is the case you may not have set Screen Joystick Mode, which can be done in two ways... either by setting screen joystick mode to up on the directional pad within the plane menu and toggling it every time you hop into a plane, or by setting it to default in the game options menu. I have a newer version of this video up that goes into these things in more detail, as well as adding a couple tweaks to this setup... Main notable differences, discussing the addition of the default SJM option, and I added auto prop pitch and auto radiator to up on the directional pad to be toggled each flight. Also, I cleared off the trim settings... they appear to not be bound to anything lol Hopefully this helps, if not, if you can give me a few more details I will try my best to help further!
ive beat just about every flight game ever made and this game is utter garbage for its flight controls, its like they have never played one ever to know how plane controls should work. wow
Ya the controls in this game definitely leave a lot to be desired, this configuration helped me tons, but also introduced new issues lol I hope this helped a little at least! Thanks for watching!
@@GoToGaming yep your suggestions did help, but it still felt really bad so i just decided ill be a tank crew, i am pretty good with them anyway and they feel balanced aside from the bug where only you get out of the tank and your crew wait inside to die..lol

Awesome work dude! Helped me a alot on PS5 too. 10/10

Hopefully this helps! Best guide anywhere on the internet for it :) I can fly alright but this should really help!
Thank you very much I appreciate that! I think the rudder is still bugged (at least it was last I played, which makes the smaller planes react violently to rudder adjustments) but I personally still find this setup much better than the pointer control lol Glad I was able to help!
Thank u so much. It is like playing a different game now. Before it was always Kamikaze.
No problem at all glad I could help! The pointer control is rough lol
I have a problem that I hope to find a solution for. I have adjusted a lot of settings and everything is fine, but there is a problem when I get on the plane. The camera view is very, very close to the plane's aiming circle, even when riding in any vehicle, unlike before I wish to respond
For the "newer battle field setting" how am i even supposed to turn the plane
Leave the throttle and shoot etc the way it is but set the rudder elevator and aileron settings as I show in the video and it should work for ya... make sure to enable the joystick mode tho or it will keep the white pointer circle locked and pull you back to that constantly. Unfortunately you have to enable joystick mode every time you hop in the plane... I hope this helps, but if you have something specific you need help with I will do my best to help...
Very underrated you deserve nore subs forreal
Thank you very much for the kind words!
Best controls i've used so far but why with the left thumbstick the plane goes crazy with left and right ?
As far as I can tell this is a bug with the rudder and has been a thorn in my side for months now lol This is most noticeable in the smaller fighter planes, and is a bit easier to deal with in the bombers. I have brought this up to the developers on their forum which I cover in my newer flight controls video, but they still have yet to release a fix for it. They did say they were working on it however. I am going to inquire again today to see if there has been any progress. I'm glad the controls have helped a bit at least, fingers crossed they fix the rudder soon! Thanks for watching!
@@GoToGaming Thanks for the reply ! You just got a new follower

This is happening to me too I can't control my plane only the throttle and roll I just got my plane and I can't use it I'm sad
How do you get into the mission?? To fly the plane
@@GoToGaming ok thank you 😊
This helped immensely but with all the patches I think an updated more in depth video would be even better please!
Quick question, but should the elevator trim also be inverted? Just something I noticed.
I think this may need looked into again, after the update for some reason something has messed up and some planes just dont pull up anymore.
Thank you, but for the elevator and ailerons I used left stick and for the rudder I used right stick(left right) but thank you
I’m glad you were still able to make it work for you! Thanks for watching!
Dont try a drone in mode 2 then....lol.
Can you do the same thing with tanks? I HATE the pointer control on tanks!
I will do one for the tanks as soon as I can figure out a way to clear the pointer control, I've been struggling with them also... so far it seems like there are some missing options within the vehicle settings page, so hopefully the devs add in some more settings in the near future.
Thank you so so sooooo much
No problem at all glad I could help! The pointer aim drove me nuts and I knew I couldn’t be the only one lol thanks for watching!
@@GoToGaming ok you are right, you had said to remember to do that and I didn't remember lol
I'm just glad it's working a bit better for ya now... I hope lol the controls in this game still need some work lol Let me know if you have any other questions!
what can i do about the lean controls on controller. im struggling with finding which buttons are best to use
Can I get enlisted on the xbox one S because I have tried and it says it isn't available
No sorry, unfortunately Enlisted is only available on Xbox Series S/X, PS5 and PC.
@@MrGhoulie 100% agree it can take all day to get there as long as I’m looking where I’m shooting lol
Hey man, how would I use the new Battlefield controls for Enlisted, like the ones for Battlefield V?
Sorry I’m a dumbass, I got it but I feel like the rudder is so sensitive is there anyway to change it?
Thank you
No problem at all! Thanks for watching!
can you do just regular settings because i feel like the settings are very weird
@@GoToGaming so the dead zone? also do you know which one is default sensitivity for looking around?
@@GoToGaming I appreciate the response and solutions! Thank you!
No problem at all! When I hear more about the fix or if I can come up with anything else I’ll let you know! This bug drive me nuts cause the controls are so close to being what they should be but then that rudder just throws ya right off lol
Couldn't control my throttle at all and crashed into the ground.
Thank you! That's way better than before!! :-)
Glad I could help!
Thanks!
@@GoToGaming Thanks dude!
Much better
Glad I was able to help! Thanks for watching!
Why don’t the nose change direction. Now I’ve removed the pointer control it won’t change direction. Shit instructions 👌
Did you set your screen joystick mode to a button (I used up on the directional pad) and hit it every time you get into a plane to enable screen joystick mode? If not it remains on pointer control and will come back to that center circle every time. I explain this in the video when I mention how it’s the most important setting. Hope this helps
Noce work!!
Thank you!
I just suck at flying, but thanks
This game does not make flying easy that is for sure! lol I find these controls help me get the plane feeling a lot more familiar but they come with their own quirks as well... hopefully I was able to help a little at least lol Thanks for watching!
Jesus it's not the controls that's the problem It's the fact that the plane doesn't turn at all
That rudder bounce? ya it's brutal lol Fingers crossed that fix is coming sooner than later... Also, I cleared off the trim settings... they appear to not be bound to anything lol Hopefully this helps, if not, if you can give me a few more details I will try my best to help further!
please stop with the music
ive beat just about every flight game ever made and this game is utter garbage for its flight controls, its like they have never played one ever to know how plane controls should work.
