    Started golfing twenty years ago I’m 84 now. You just provided the missing link. My swing and ball striking has improved immensely. It’s a natural and easy move. You just need to know it’s required. Many thanks.

    Great content Eric! this move actually ties in with early extension. By rotating the right shoulder down through impact keeping that side bend, the butt has to stay back to keep the correct balance in the swing.
    This is the drill that helped to fix my early extension.

    An essential piece to a good golf swing and often what is missing for those who aren't consistent ball strikers. What I have found is the left hip has to be firing back and out of the way to get the right shoulder down and chest open at impact. Sync these moves up and you are striping them.

    Great video. I'm 74 and still trying to play. I couldn't help but notice that another factor in getting the shoulder forward is transferring the weight/pressure to the left side. In addition the radius is shortened by the opening of the hips/core both features of which are visible in watching the video closely with regard to your hips and the weight transfer to your left foot with the inside of your left foot off the ground as you make this move. Your videos are incredible in both quality and content. It's a little frustrating to hear that crisp, clean contact you make with every shot. LOL!

    Eric - I don't know if you can do it, but it would be great to see a tracer on your shots so we can see the ball flight/draw. It won't make a difference in terms of the info you're giving us. But it will be helpful to visualize/correlate what your demostrating and what the results should look like when we emulate your swings. As always, you're amazing and love your explanations. No one is as descriptive in their instruction and I find it awesome when attempting to process what you're teaching.

    Any advice for a guy that has a traditional back swing, gets the shoulder down, but is hitting push fades and ocassionally pull cuts to counter it. Its almost like I have forgotten how and when to release because of this correct move. Almost like a handle drag and I often feel my right hand is pointing to the sky. I try to "feel" it turn over but it causes a pull slice or a straight pull. Any thoughts? Has to be the release I imagine.

    It may be of some help to focus on pushing off the ground w/ your left foot extending the left hip/knee connection to fully straight position to start the down swing. As long as you have the proper apx 22 degree left foot flare and correct posture at setup this action will cause you to rotate automatically and will cause your left shoulder to raise a bit while dropping your right shoulder considerably creating the Ben Hogan described "magic elbow". Its a key thought I used to gain a consistent way to make the desire action described in this video happen.

    It frosts my flakes to see fathers teaching kids on the practice tee and hearing, “You’re dipping your shoulder!” as the cause for the kids’ inevitable fat shots.
    The kid keeps his or her trail shoulder high and what happens? They hit the ball even fatter - if at all.
    It’s little wonder so many children give up on golf.

    When you present videos alone , the information is usually very good . When you invite other pros to teach their ideas , the information ranges from marginal to bad with a few exceptions .
    This video is another video with very good information .
    I have one suggestion on how to achieve your desired results . Because keeping the right wrist in extension at impact is important in keeping the right arm bent and the right shoulder down( as you pointed out), and because there are devices such as the Hackmotion wrist sensor , Cluckit and others which can monitor and give immediate feedback on the right wrist , it might be better to emphasize the right wrist extension rather than the right shoulder.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the feedback Dave!
      I've given lessons for the past 14-15 years probably 20,000 lessons and I can say confidently neither is correct or better than the other.
      some players use right wrist extension cue and that leads to trail arm bend and shoulder down.
      Others it does not.
      Others need to get the shoulder down in the first place to be able to keep the wrist bent.
      Neither is more favorable....I've tried both hundreds of hundreds of times.
      Best

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 роки тому

      Hey Keith!
      It could
      Lack of height I would look at
      1. Lack of speed. More speed =more height. Pros swing their 9 iron probably close to 90mph...see where you are at. If you are 75 you won't be as high.
      2. Dynamic loft
      3. Strike point. Too low on face=lower

    Why not simply set up to your impact position first up. There seems no advantage in having an "address" position that is never again used in the real swing?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  3 роки тому

      Hey Ed! Hard for most from that impact position at setup to get to a full backswing turn/depth. I would say that's the main argument there.
      So if you can't get full backswing you are likely to swing too far over the top and lose considerable power.
