  • We disassembled a 2008 Honda CBR600RR Fuel pump due to the bike not accelerating properly. The symptoms were most evident when the second set of injectors would engage and the bike would stutter and the RPM’s would fall. I was hoping to replace the fuel filter and the strainer. The fuel filter is sealed shut and upon opening it we saw that it isn’t serviceable.

This video was very helpful for me when I disassembled my fuel pump. The only thing I did different to remove the fuel pump was to push down on the clip instead of trying to pull it out. Pushing down will push the pump right out with little effort and save you from breaking the housing for the fuel pump…

    Remarkably helpful!!
If you're struggling to remove the pump itself, put the housing in a vice, grab a screwdriver & a hammer & tap away

Did you ever find a solution to your issue? My 08 CBR hovers around 9k, and has a slightly uncomfortable vibration at that range. Replaced the pump and regulator, it improved conditions for a short while. Thinking about removing the filter material and going with an external filter for testing. But since you replaced the whole assembly, I’m thinking the filter may not be the issue. And thank you for this video and confirming my thought. No one anywhere clearly stated the filter is embedded inside the housing/assembly.

I removed the top of the pump housing to see if I could clean the internal fuel filter, but unfortunately it wasn’t serviceable. I replaced the whole unit for around $500 and it didn’t solve the issue of my bike dropping off at 10K RPM.

Unfortunately no. I installed a brand new fuel pump and it didn’t solve the problem. I ended up selling my bike as is.

@@ryhow1772 Any idea of what it could of been? I am having the exact same issue and was about to replace the fuel pump and radiator fan to try and fix it.
