Long time Frenzy barb here, let me comment some of the stuff. First, the merc. I agree that A5 is a bit stupid, but regarding the tankiness - he is very tanky, I wouldn't compare him to A1, which will die immediately, unless you stuff her with some sick gear. Second and most important point - Fana and breakpoints. According to my tests, fana doesn't work the way it should, i.e.: it doesn't add up to the weapon's base damage. It looks like it adds just a regular +ias and that might not even be the exact number, so lvl 8 might not add precisely 28%. I will give you an example to illustrate this, so maybe you will find an error in my thought process. My barb uses Doom in Berserker Axe (weapon speed: 0, but the RW provides 45% ias) and Death in Colossus Sword (weapon speed: -10). He has 20% ias from amulet, 25% from gloves (IK gloves) and 15% from helm (Veil of Steel btw), so 60% ias besides weapons. Frenzy is on lvl 32, though not sure if the LoD IAS values are precisely the same as PD2 values, but should be close. Anyways. According to that calculator, I should be able to hit 5 fps with just fana only, even having 0% ias, which is just a flat out lie, so we already know at that point that Fana part of the calculator doesn't work. Moving further, my 60% + around 28% from fana (Beast RW) = 88% 5 fps should be met at 75%, so it's all good, overcapped by 13%. BUT...if I will replace IK gloves with Laying of Hands, so only 5% ias less (a total of ~~ 83%) - I can see my barb is NOT as fast as previously. Something is clearly not correct in here, but being a long-time Frenzy player, I just wanted to share that info. Whatever I mentioned below is based on my visual/audio observations, I always though I had the 5 fps, until I changed the main weapon from BotD in Colossus Blade to Doom in BA and then I was like: wow, he is even faster now. Also, I do feel like Frenzy charges run out if you sit idle.
Very true on the fana. How can a bowazon get to 292 ias max breakpoint with only 90-ish on gear and a 15lvl fanat... fanat giving 200 ias ... something off here:)

So now it will become speed: -30 (just like a phase blade), which means, that breakpoints will go vastly down, by way way way more than 30%. At least that's how it should work. According to my tests it doesn't work like that, at least not for me. Fana does boost my speed, but only by like ~~ 25-27% and has nothing to do with base speed. Hmm you know what? Maybe it will boost the base speed of the weapon...If I would be the weapon user, then maybe it would work like that...But I am only the aura receiver, hence there is no weapon-based bonus. So party ias bonus would be therefore smaller. Actually, same for the fana dmg: wielder get x%, party dmg bonus is 0.5x%. I think I will test that tomorrow.

Everyone has been using it for so long and no issues to check the IAS breakpoints. @@lqgash9077 Fanat doesn't add "on gear IAS". It directly modifies the WSM of the weapon, which is what determines how much gear IAS you need to hit the breakpoints.
Also want to say - dual wraith flight is only a viable option if you have a fanaticism merc and a gg ias set up. So overall - yes they are best damage output from avaialbe throwable uniques and cheap in themselves , but withou fanatcisim they are not so good as lacerator warshike combo or any other high ias combo throwables. It's really all about IAS and without fanat, that 3,5 breakpoint is impossible:)
Great video! I personally like Arreat's for the extra +skills (+4 to frenzy) so that i need 1 less IAS jewel to hit the final breakpoint (level 12 frenzy w/ only 1 point) w/ 95 IAS. Good IAS jewels are really hard to find and when you do they cost more than all the rest of the gear lol. Not to mention, like you said, arreat's is just an insane helmet.
I heard that your ricochets are based on your non throwing base attacking rating (the same attack rating if you just went up and smacked something with no skill). For this reason, I heard that putting one point in the other mastery for your weapon type (like pole arm mastery) increased your hit rate on your ricochets a bunch. Thoughts on this?
theres also no calc to know the break point by GLITCHING the attack speed, unless you can link it here. i was wrong about the attack speed breakpoint on my video ( saying that only the main hand matter and not the off-hand )
In PD2 stack size does not deplete (nor do stacks of arrows as another example) Just to reiterate, this is PROJECT DIABLO 2, not Diablo 2 LOD - it is a free community mod.
Nah man, almost not at all lol. I personally use Crown of ages (every mod is good for your merc), string of ears (life leech, PDR... highly recommend this over dungos because vitality does not give your merc HP), inferno stridess or hot spurs, and drac gloves (str, ias, life leech, CB just great overall)
yea i tried to calc the damage myself for the real damage out of double throw and i really ragequitted at the end where i was testing max damage charm on a simply 400 dex barb with simple throw damage.. the 10 max gc would add only 10 but 3 max small charm would add 5... which makes absolutely no sense.... but yea... lets just say we deal DAMAGE.. also a5 merc is much more tanky and the might aura level from him is around lvl 20 ( cuz i dont exactly know if it increases with his own merc level ) but you can also increase it with +all skill gear such as +3 andy and +3 valor. also having 3 aura on a merc is very clunky and require weird rejoin glitch cuz a merc is supposed to have 2 aura max and not 3. if you know how to glitch the merc, go ahead! but myself cant tell exactly how to do it. according to how the game is supposed to calc the real damage , 30 max damage jewel gives sooo much more damage than 40% ed jewel but i can see your choice of attack speed to reach breakpoints. i do prefer to go for lacerator to gain the amp proc so any kind of phys resistant / phys immune ( but the stone skin thorned hulk ) will get melts and i can helps much more in groups.
The tooltip was knowingly incorrect last season, maybe they fixed it. For whatever reason, I think I read in the patch notes that they fixed the tooltip. They did not give any indication of HOW wrong it was last season.
Need? No. Attack rating, character level, and monster level are factors as well. For example, if you are lvl 99 and go into a normal game you are never going to miss. ITD is a nice to have, not a necessity.
You run away! lol. Jk I mean you can put a point in beserk for the magic damage. But all told, you want to avoid big packs of phys immune. The one point in beserk will just work with your merc to get through that one-off phys immune boss.
I cant get 3 auras to work on plugy when i for instance re equip tmight it will cancel out the fant when paired with vigor, anyone else have this issue
u need to rejoin a game after u equip it and ur good just dont remove it again if u do u have to rejoin a game thats the buggy part of it but other then that it works fine
Once you have all the gear on your merc, reequip their weapon, leave the game, then never touch their gear again. You'll have all 3 auras from that point on. Keep in mind, the merc's native aura (vigor for A1) will not turn on until they start attacking in a fresh game. Don't confuse this with aura bug.
Don't requip them. Get it set, leave game. It's set then for games after that. However, if you touch their gear again, you have to reset it by leaving the game again.
@@igotskidsnow9454 thats not true at all. I reset my mercs gear everytime I start a map. Sometimes it takes a second for the aura to land on might sometimes it hits other auras 10 times in a row.. but never do i have to leave the game
@@andrewmays1057 Mercs only show one aura at a time, and the way I've mentioned above has worked since the beginning of S1. Bora even covers it in multiple of his videos, same method. But, if that method works for you, use it. Everyone has methods they prefer.
@@igotskidsnow9454 Yes one aura only shows at a time and not all 3 auras are active once you enter. You have to wait until your aura is displayed on your merc then it is active. This is easily proven by looking at your character damage as soon as you enter a map. Also this is proven with fanat by shooting when you 1st enter a map. You will be shooting alot slower until it activates. Ive been bow'ing before Bora made it popular on PD2 btw. And even Bora stated himself that multiple auras are still buggy. But the statement of "you have to leave your game to reset" is completely false.

Best build imo, even this season. Pierce from gear doesn't work with throw, fyi- you get it only from the skill.

how do you deal with depletion of stack from throwing when using weapons that do not replenish stack??

There are no stack sizes in pd2. Ethereal throwing items do not break.

I copied your build in Plugy (except corruption items) but I have only 3-10k damage.I don't understand how you did it

They do not. No stack sizes (including bolts arrows throwing weps etc)
