My God you are the real MVP. I played diablo 1 from release up to d3 and now pd2 and this is the best breakdown I've ever seen of the mechanics of mfing. It's hard to explain some of of these things to people without the physical examples, and is just difficult all together, even for someone who understands it for the most part. 👏.......... 👏.............. 👏................... 👏...

Just started PD2, just got that arachnid belt on my FOH pally. its so fast its insane. Ill never go back to old D2 or D2r unless they got this mod for it.
Hey bro, nice vid again. However, around 11:00 min, when you talk about qlvl and ilvl you made a small mistake. Qlvl and Ilvl are very different things and affect the item roll mechanics. Qlvl is a hidden stat and is not equal to ilvl. Qlvl actually doesn't have anything to do with Uniques, becuase their mods are predetermined and can only range within the already predetermined mods. However - Qlvl has an enormous impact on Rares, Magic and Crafts.The ilvl, in conjunction with the Quality Level (qlvl), also limits which affixes can appear on the item, (It's what stops you from getting a Godly Quilted Armor of the Whale in the Blood Moor on Normal, for example,) as well as the maximum number of sockets an item can spawn with. For example - Qlvl is the most important stat for crafting Godly blood gloves. So when you mentioned Templar's Might has an Ilvl of 82 or quality lvl 82 - that's not actually true - Qlvl could be higher or lower and it matches the Sacred armor class quality level. But otherwise, great advice - I actually think the best content for MF is maps becuase of the high area levels - so best go for a fast mapper and don't care about MF gear - anything above 200 is overkill. Density + high monster /area level - more drops and more chance for unique drops.

got a question, What about a Find item(horker)\Bo barb in group? they only spam find item, so stacking magic find would be better ?
what monsters can drop treasure class 90 and also have monster lvl 87+?
Just been horkin away for the past 3 days killing trav council. Wish I had known about it sooner, garbage gear to fort/botd in 2 days.
I agree with ghosts dropping more runes (because they can't drop armor pieces), but as far as I know the only reason to farm cows for runes is the high density area and that they don't have any immunity, what makes cow farming efficient.
8 months later, and I still lose sleep not knowing what that ammy was that dropped in the map… RIP my sanity

I thought that the highest TC is 87. TC90 was present in some earlier patches. Even if you check the TreasureClass file from v1.13, you do have "weap87", but you don't have "weap90":

Basically, if monster lvl is at least 87 (so pretty much T2 maps, which are area lvl=88), he has a chance to drop every item in the game. Yes, even a regular has a chance to drop Tyrael's, because: a) he drops from TC87; b) he fullfils the condition of monster lvl>=87 (because Tyrael is qlvl=87). You might think this is an exaggeration, because with 200% MF, a chance that a regular/minion will drop Crown of Ages is 1 : 1,187,658. But imagine this: you kill 2500, even 3000 monsters per map.
Then you do 100 maps. It's already 300,000 monsters. Technically you can't divide 1,187,658 by 300,000 (you should do it like this: a chance that CoA will NOT drop after 300k monsters:
= (1187657/1187658)^300,000
= 0.77678
This is the chance, that after killing 300k monsters you will NOT get the CoA. Time to do 1-x.
= 1 - 0.77678 = 0.2232
= you have 22.32% chance to drop at least one CoA after killing 300k regular monsters with 200% MF. Not bad, right? You don't have that chance running Pits, Ancient Tunnels, etc. (besides minions, which have monster lvl of 88, but there aren't many of them).
Tip: you can do it the simple way and just simply divide the chance by the number of times you are going to kill that monster. It's not a fully correct approach, but the number will be super close.
= 1187658 : 300000 ~~ 3.95886
= you have 1 in 3.95886 chance ~~ 25.26% (here it's around 3 percentage point difference, because of a huge 300k sample, normally there won't be more than 0.2-0.5 p.p.). Good approximation.
Ah, almost forgot. I found CoA in season 1 in tier 2 map. From a regular :)

Honestly, just a pop any map you can clear, maps fall quite a bit you'll find a few I'm sure.
Gotta go watch the other video but I'm a fury zon and it's impossible to do any maps or 85level areas without getting melted by lightning immunes. Any tips or tricks to this without infinity? :( getting tired of no being able to run maps (hard wall atm)
You can definitely do the cow map (blood moon), OR just run the cow level. It's area level is 81 and has an overall great loot table.
And as noted, cows have a higher chance of dropping runes than other units.
looking to find more blue "magic" items
So if I want to find Wraith Flight (ilvl 99) the monster needs to be lvl 99 or greater. Since the highest area level on hell is 85 (and thus the max. monster lvl 85+3=88), the monster must be an act boss. And since Diablo is lvl 94 on hell only Baal on hell can drop Wraith Flight?!
One thing to note is that the graph is set for players 1. Good vid though keep up the great content
This is a noteworthy call out, but additional players does not change how MF works. Additional players DECREASES the “no drop rate”, or the chance that a monster drops nothing.
For anyone who reads this comment and for additional context, pd2 solo play maintains monster strength of players1, but has the “no drop rate” of players 5, so your chance of finding ITEMS is greater. But to reiterate, it does not change the mechanics of Magic find. Magic find is calculated ONLY after no drop chance = false.

I tried offering a dude like 5hrs for tyreals the other day he said no lol I was like okay. Oh well.. so I am curious where the best place to look for tyreals might be? HOW DO I GET THAT TYPE OF BLOOD MOON MAP WITH JUST COW GHOSTS
Something I'd really like to understand is are drops really better when more people are in the game? And to what extent? How exactly does this work.
I'm not sure if it's just anotber pd2 glitch but some games I can find nothing and some other games I can keep on finding stuff the whole game wherever I go.
I can definitely answer this one!
More players in the game does not make drops “better”. Each monster in the game has a “no drop chance”, or a chance to drop nothing. When there are more players in the game, the no drop chance is reduced. So said simply, there are more items dropping.
Important to note that when you play solo in pd2 the no drop rate is equal to players 5 in d2 lod (though monster difficulty is still p1).

Really something I am not getting tho as I am mfin like a real crazy mofo by myself and doing maps as much as I can and honestly can't find much when alone. Best rune I found this season was cham and gul and items wise I don't tend to fund the great items. I mean I've never really been a lucky person lmao.. I did a map by myself yesterday and found one unique item in the entire map 😂

Also, So I understand Lacquered armor isn't dropable by Mephisto because he doens't contain that treasure class, ALTHOUGH he is high enough monster level. But for monsters in the PD2 85 Zones, how do we know what treasure class they are in?
Where can I find treasure class drop brackets for PD2? I've been looking and can't find it.
I'm not sure if that information is available for PD2 unfortunately.

Around 200 is great. Less is also fine if it means you are increasing your clear speed to sacrifice mf.

Do you know if some people are able to use hacks like pick it or whatever the name is in PD2 ? Doing some chaos runs lately and items don't even hit the ground and theyre gone...
Probably the loot filter they are using. With loot filters you can increase the size of pick-up boxes and it makes it extremely hard to NOT pick it up.
The loot filter I use makes runes like 1/10th of your entire screen lol.

So, if Tier 3 maps are 88ilvl, does that mean the highest charm you can get is from super uniques, and they will not be greater than +3(91) ? A bit of a bummer, dont you need 92+ ilvl charms to roll skillers with 45life?
Ilvl 91 can roll 45 life as well

Mapping for me is a struggle. Tried MA Assassin, Pyromancer and Sorc. 30-40,min clear speeds. I can run tombs and anc and be more productive. I really want to run and experience maps but the return on investment, time, isn't worth it for me. Maybe I'm using wrong classes and builds.
For context found a Sur and Ohm rune within and hour of clearing tombs and mobs in the way to tombs.
I usually don't go past 400. I'm usually between 200-400. Some days are good some days i don't find crap or in between. Hell some times i find jah jah ohm then go weeks with nothing.
I still haven't found 1 griffions death fathom death web in the whole 20+ years of playing. Maybe I'm just cursed with bad luck lol but playing d2 is fun enough where i don't care maybe one day :)

What website are you using to see which mobs are what level?
Couple options, but this would be the most thorough:

There are some changes in pd2, but this is what I would call "directionally accurate". They did increase some alvls to 85, so mlvls in the link above wouldn't be accurate for those areas.
Beyond that, Act boss mlvls have not changed.

Am I the only one that noticed a huge difference in maps loots in the last 1-2 week? I feel like I use to find 5-6 uniques in every map and now I find 1 per map if lucky and it's most likely a low level item. Feels like they really have reduced the chances to get note worthy items recently while mapping alone.

Just got a girffons and grandfather in the same map, with boosted mf, had 258 mf for thst map
totaly agree on the clear speed over mf i play hc and there u cant afford mf that much and all i can say if its gonna drop its gonna drop found shako from a zombie in act 1 soj from rakanishu on the way to get leg if the game want to give items even with minus mf u still gonna get items also having alot of mf doesent mean the items u find will be good
