Watched one of your videos via the UA-cam recommendation suggestion. So glad I found this channel. Really well put together and very informative.
Looking forward to hopefully many more to come. Good job….
@@scottandreis2016 Hi mate really appreciate that, thank you👍 We have lots more video's to come.
what your doing is illegal .hope.enviromental agency are watching this
@@stevengardner81 nope it's not they've seen it and my net is the right size mate so do your research before leaving negative comments👍
@@FORAGEFEAST-m1c it's not exactly sport?? try useing a rod and reel
@@stevengardner81 not doing it for sport doing it food 👍
Either right or wrong you are certainly nailing them . Plenty of fish for the family and those bass are tasty .
Well done mate, love you videos.
@@bout20031 Thanks very much mate!👍
It wont be long before bus loads turn up with nets.😢
@@russellbridgman3777 Well not necessarily in Cornwall mate as people can do this where ever live. Beaches and tidal rivers everywhere in the UK. 👍
@@FORAGEFEAST-m1c it's happening where I live mullet are virtually non existent hear now. You could virtually walk on them ,there were that many. Now your lucky to see one. Incidently I am related to an old looe fishing family . The Tamblyns.
@@russellbridgman3777 Ah where abouts is that, that's unfortunate, this because cast net fishing?
@@FORAGEFEAST-m1c organised gangs using any method available. Some areas have now had fences and gates erected to try and stop it. Southwest Devon.
@@russellbridgman3777 I'm sorry to hear that mate sounds awful!😯
Again I agree with the Luther posts. Most of those look to Small and you should only keep what you need.
Your eye scales need to be recalibrated
@@anthonygreen4981 👍😂
Perhaps you could include something in your videos about only taking what you need. A am a shooting but I am a sport fisherman to. Mullet are and excellent sporing quarry and it seems a shame to see them harvested by the bucket full. They are very slow growing and fellow mullet fisherman report populations totally wiped out at certain marks. The reason given it commercial netting. Mullet are a resource we all can enjoy but not once they are gone. Your method may legal I don't have the knowledge to comment. But a message of only take what you need wouldn't go a miss.
@@Toss-io5ch I fully understand and respect your opinion, but I visit Cornwall at most a couple of times a year and take a few fish each time for consumption throughout the year when I'm landlocked in Leicester for the rest of the year.
Yes but you a board casting to a wide audience. Some may not show the same restraint. When you provide instruction as you have, you should, I believe explain that when this method is affective the is a responsibility to understand the resource sustainability when harvesting.
@@Toss-io5ch Thanks for the side note 👍

Have you checked with Cornwall IFCA that this is legal ?
River and Estuarine Fishing Nets Byelaw 2017
Cornwall IFCA.??
Good point,. according to IFCA website it's a bit of a grey area. www.cornwall-ifca.gov.uk/netting '' Prohibition of netting in Cornwall's Rivers and Estuaries....
Under a byelaw, which came into force in January 2018, it is an offence to use a net for taking sea fish in any of the rivers or estuaries within the Cornwall IFCA district. It is also an offence to carry a net on board a vessel while engaged in any fishing activity within the rivers and estuaries. The prohibition on carrying or using nets does not apply to:
Various low impact nets such as a landing net, brailing net, netting which forms part of a trap for fish or shellfish, or a dredge, or any manually operated net which does not exceed 4 square meters.
Sand eel seine nets used under a permit issued by Cornwall IFCA.
Ebb nets used under a permit issued by Cornwall IFCA.
@@michaelbrazendale8368 Yes I have my friend and its very legal. There's no bylaws on cast nets as they are under 4 meter square.
Yeah but you pay no attention to minimum size requirements
@@okcarter999 There are no size restrictions on gray mullet in this river. Although I did not take any under 20cm
how.many fish do you need ????
People on here moaning about taking fish when supertrawlers wipe out whole species. Cop on to yourseves. If everybody only has a cast net the seas wohld be full.
Brilliant karl buddy 👌
@@Field2forkcatapulthunting thank you mate! Much appreciated 👍
Lovely place looe is.
I’ve always gone on holiday nearly every year mate in the summer.
This year tho I was there in may
@@piemanoutdooradventures I bet it was nicer in May than it is now to be fair mate! The weather's shocking 😂
Advice from the local marine group:
Finally, ALL anglers are encouraged to fish sustainably, and show respect for other marine users and the environment. This means not taking more fish than you will eat; catch and release of small (and large) fish; not leaving any litter or waste, and taking care how you handle live fish so as to minimise stress and prevent their injury. D
@@jonrundle3914 totally agree Jon, the thing people don't understand is I was on holiday, and I take a few mullet once a year, every angler you ever find fishing with a rod, takes a whole lot more fish than me, I fillet and freeze these and probably eat one a month, so very sustainable, not over fishing, no rubbish, discarded hooks and line, and definitely no ruptured swim bladders, just a completely ethical way of putting a few dinners on the table throughout the year.

That’s a really fascinating and informative video-I totally get why you are so enthusiastic about it. Have you tried this method on the open shoreline where the fish, if any are present at all, are not visible and if so have you had any success? I am thinking in particular about surf beaches where flatfish are often close in as well bass.
@@davidburgess2354 Thank you mate!👍 Yes that's where I started doing this originally, on the beach ankle deep in the water. I found you need quite calm water so you can see ripples or when they surface slightly. Otherwise you'll be throwing your net blind. I suppose if your going to a spot you know always has those fish there, it could work. Hope that helps mate 👍
Wot size net you got and where from, brilliant channel 👏
@@markjenkins1410 Cheers mate, my net is 6ft from amazon. Its as cheap as chips👍
the more of this video i watch .the more my blood.boils

Great instructional video, picking up on a couple of points. It would be nice to see a legal size measure in use , also perhaps showing the safe return of all the undersized fish. As a freezer filler i understand your methods albeit angling on light gear would have probably been more sporting. Btw.. Bass
42 centimetres .. Grey Mullet ..20 centimetres
@@paulroscorla3887 Thank you for the advice mate, I have been fishing my whole life and I know the restrictions on all fish and always sure to check on what I don't know. I'd never be unethical whilst fishing. I checked with ifca and they made me aware that actually for grey mullet in an estuary being caught with a net under 4m square that there is no size restrictions at all. Which I was surprised myself but never keep the fish under 20cm anyway as there's not a lot of meat on them 20cm let alone smaller. But yes that's definitely somthing I'd bare in mind next time, so the people can see for themselves. 👍
Don’t think what you are doing is legal don’t think you are allowed to net estuarys
@@olivervenus3797 I am mate, most estuaries have their own bylaws so you ideally need to check with the local environment agency or IFCA but with this river I did and its fine. I hope this clears things up 👍 I have had a lot of negative comments on the cast net video's from people who don't do their research before commenting negatively.
@FORAGEFEAST-m1c were the Bass you took over 42 cm ?
@@olivervenus3797 I'm sorry, I don't have to answer to you!😂 I know what I'm doing and what I can and can not do. I have been fishing my whole life. Thanks.
