Fitec (the 8’ 1” net) is a real reputable cast net manufacturer, they have some decent quality nets, but most models are cheap and low quality. But betts super pro and there new Morada series are high quality nets if you have a larger budget. Of you want a pro level cast net I would suggest a barracuda tackle, black pearl, humpback, or betts morada
Great video. I use Betts cast nets and have not had any problems. Just remember you get what you pay for. Like you, I have a couple of cheap nets to use in questionable places where I do not want to take a chance in ruining my good nets. I love throwing cast nets for bait, it is as much fun as fishing. I will be getting a Calusa, or a Bait Buster cast net in the near future to up my game. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge on cast nets. New to Florida and want to purchase a net. You helped in that decision and yes...nerd on. Lets hear about care and storage.
I had multiple cast nets of the cheap one you call and they never had any problem always outside in my yard noting wrong with them other then some repairs due to getting them stuck in rocks at the beach great info tho !!!
good info.....thanks......just a quick note, everyone new to cast netting should check their local laws......here in Florida, the legal maximum stretched mesh size for freshwater is one inch it's larger for saltwater......just check your local laws.....
Show me the storage! Lol. Also maybe show tips for softening a net right out of the box. I fill up a bucket with hot water and put a couple cups of liquid fabric softener, or dawn, whichever I have handy to loosen up the memory of the mono as well as give it a bit of coating. I soak it for a few hours then spray it off fully open with cool water.
I have 3 betts nets. 8, 6 and 3 footers. I use the 3ft for catching shad below the hydro from the bank on the Arkansas river. Seems to work better for me in the swift shallow water. The others I use from my boat.
Hi there, great insight about different types of castnets , I live at the foothills of the Himalayas and we make our own nets and smelt our own weights, we use a different type of castnets unlike your braille castnets because of the swift current and lots of rocks, if you are interested look up asian castnets that's what we use. Just have a favour to ask can you please give me a link where I can purchase big swivels for cast nets, asked a lot of my friends abroad but they can't seem to be able to get it, tia.
I have had the swivel on the "Brand X" brand come apart while trying to pull in bait. was not snagged, just a good amount of bait. was able to get it back tho.
Have you ever tried the braid? net mono just the lines or braid an about 1 1\2 lbs per foot I thinking of trying them yea they high dollar but heavy weights want throw it much to catch my bait
Great video, I thought about getting a net this year, but the learning curve bothers me. How many time has something looked easy, only to find it takes more time than it's worth. But I had no idea of the differences in the nets, thanks.
Hi there, wondered if you can help me I'm from uk and just bought two betts 7ft 1" mesh mullet castnets from America, they both have loose knots in 3 separate places up the net all the way around it, is this supposed to be like that.
Great video Quinton I've been in the market for Cast net so I like the bets net what do you prefer 5 6 Foot 7 Foot for the river here in Pennsylvania they just passed the cast net law 3/8 mesh can't exceed 10 ft radius I'm not as experienced so I was thinking five or six foot maybe what do you think also do the video buddy
Show me the storage. If you don't get enough comments to make a video can you just comment on here how you store them. You are like the Macgyver of fishing DIY's. Love your channel bud.
So, I noticed that you said nothing about the middle net. You described the two one each side which were comparable to one another, but nothing on the middle net. Is there a reason for that?

Yes brother put out the storage video, ppl need to know this stuff! 👍
I like the way you threw that net in the beginning and have never seen that way before. How about doing a video on how you are holding it.
I had multiple cast nets of the cheap one you call and they never had any problem always outside in my yard noting wrong with them other then some repairs due to getting them stuck in rocks at the beach great info tho !!!
I throw off a bridge at low tide about 15 ft before it hits the water so the longer rope could be a plus thanks for the video

Been thru my share of unknown net throws. So many nets ripped to pieces but you never know until you try.

At lock and dam 13?
@@catfishkarma1 no just what they come with. You can see them flash in the water and there usually close to the bank.
Great video! I think showing net storage would be a good idea.
Of course we want to see storage! When in doubt, put it out! We will watch

The comparable Fitec to the Betts Super Pro is the Fitec Ultra Spreader.

Is the 6ft betts is that the old salt net
Awesome vid
Barracuda best on market hands down on all aspects, a little pricey but you will see why, and a lifetime warranty
The quality of the nets may be similar in some areas, but the performance of a cheap net vs a name brand net is night and day.
Mid-South Outdoor Life I use a Betts pro. Soaking in fabric softener makes a huge difference too.
Thanks for the great info!
