Really appreciate the time and effort you put into this, extremely well done and explained. How long did it take you to learn the moves and do them so smoothly?
Thank you. It took a few months (skating once or twice a week) to feel comfortable doing tricks. I'm still working on some these 2+ years later, though.
@@Rollerbalding You are beyond great at this! And for it to take you months instead of years of training is incredible! Hey check it out have you seen the mini skate movie called the gods are messing with my skates? It's right on UA-cam
I am a quad figure skater but I believe I can apply the same techniques. I don't think I have every seen such detailed illustrations during the turns. Your good !!!!
That could be the best tutorial of any kind I've seen anywhere. Awesome. Can you do the two other gazelles? You did backward open and forward closed. I'd like to see backward closed and forward open.
I LOVE this tutorial! So much detail along with the clear demos, edging and pressure application. I don't have wizards but I am still enjoying learning these moves on my 3x110s.
@@Rollerbalding It's been going well! I mostly need to work on the 1 foot transitions. Hardest one for me is the fakie outside-in, especially on the left foot.
Great tutorial, it's interesting seeing the names of these moves and breaking them down. I got hold of the kizer element 90s a while back and the rocker really does encourage moves like this. I found them quite intuitive after messing about on them for a while I started to think "oh let's try this, let's try that" and it's been great fun. Now I know that today I was working on my gazelles 👍
Insanly good explained! Seriously, with this i am finally getting the things i did wrong and just couldnt figure out why, now i am getting a feeling for it. thanks a lot!!! This is Gold!
The production value of this video is incredible. Thanks for putting in all the work -- it turned out excellent. Wish this vid was around 2 years ago when I learning to wizard skate!
Much appreciated! Thank you sir for taking the time to give detailed diagrams on these Wizard skating basics! The animations were simple in their executions but informative as to were my body weight should be in relation to my skates! Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!
Question: at @1:34 with the forward gazelle your gaze is over your right shoulder but your left leg is leading backwards. I did a workshop yesterday where they said to also look over the shoulder on the side that your leading foot is. What is your stance on this? Thanks for a great video btw!
I personally don't like that tip because it would require you to turn your head all the way around over your left shoulder and create a moment of blindness. The way I do it at 1:34, my eyes never have to look away from the direction I'm headed.
Wonderful! I've been wanting to play around with this style. Great place to start. Love the technical breakdown and visuals. Thanks very much for sharing!
this vid was SO WELL DONE! great explanation, easy onscreen guides to follow skate line and body weight, dope ass channel name (Rollerbalding lmao love it)!! you got a new sub!
@@bernsahr if you want a great aggressive rockered setup to make it easier I highly recommend the Oysi frames. Or you could run something like 58-60-60-58 in a traditional flat frame. Since skating rockered frames a year or so ago I can't go back, I have to rocker everything now!
@@chilli-iceolive-abode2447 Oh i found out its possible to do 3-turns without a rocker or at least with only a natural rocker. Its much harder though and you need to go harder on the edges (which is a problem since there is a maximum angle due to your soulplate touching the ground) Unfortunately i have Aeons so Osy frames arent an option :-/

@@user-rv7dm1gs1q Hello! You can ignore the link if it bothers you, I'd understand if that was a jumpscare or something inappropriate, but turns out that it's just a guy skating. Thanks and have a great day!
I've never done any wizard tricks until yesterday I believe. I was practicing front to back transitions yesterday at a local college (it's empty thanks to the pandemic) and, at some point, I managed a forward gazelle. It was probably the greatest feeling ever. My skates are not rockered though, so it was very rough
I've been looking for things with this level of detail. You actually made it clearer than I would though the one thing I had considered doing was showing weight per skate. I think you could really get some views with this info on beginner drills!
Awesome video! Do you need a rockered setup to do these? For single leg wizard: At the pivot are all four wheels on the pivoting skate momentarily skidding on the tarmac or are you lifting up on to toe wheel a little bit?
Hey Jasper, you will need a rockered setup to do moves like this, or a flat setup with wheels that have worn into a natural rocker. At the pivot point, you should be pivoting on one wheel (usually the 3rd wheel) with the other wheels making only slight contact
I don't have a Wizard frame. Will these instructions work if I have a rockered 70, 72, 72, 70? Or would it work if I rock it with 70, 74, 74, 72 set up? Any other suggestions?
On ice these are called "3-turns" and the term usually refers to the forward outside edge variation. Hockey players only use that one, but figure skaters probably use them all
Hey man thanks so much for awesome tutorial and graphics explanation. With your help, the past two weeks in 8-10 sessions has been my most rapid learning progress. I've never thought that learning these basic wizzard moves would greatly improved my balance, awareness of the skate's edges, and really help equalizes both my left and right coordination on all moves including backward and the variations. Previously one side is very dominant. I don't hv rockered set up like the Wizzard NR frame though, using AEON 80 now, so need more effort to pivot and it's more like forcing for mini slides on each wheel. But funny that learning these move makes my front & back wheels worn out to become rockered 1-2 milimeter, thus helping to pivot smoother now. Maybe this why the Wizaard frame design is called 'Natural Rockered'? :p Anyway thanks again!
This is not only the best wizard skating tutorial/demonstration but probably the best illustrated example of any rollerblading trick I've ever seen.
