At the end of the video I talked about the possibility of some countries opening up to tourists in the next few months. But apparently New Zealand won't be opening to foreign tourism anytime soon. For now they're only considering opening up to Australians visiting, but nothing is confirmed yet. I'd heard that Croatia might open up on May 18th, but that may only be to visitors from the Czech Republic (not sure how that makes sense since they don't share a border, but that's what someone said). Greece is seriously considering opening up to tourism for the summer, but perhaps that will only be for domestic tourism or only to other Europeans visiting. So for now travel is still basically impossible, but we can hope that things improve enough for some chances to travel later this summer. Feel free to post any travel news you hear below.

Yes they are totally paranoid and quite willing to destroy one of their largest industries (tourism) for the sake of a dose of the flu. Let's face it...NZ is where all the sheep come from!

@Dorian Mode Yes it's just a flu haven't you heard of corona virus? Just a flu and the whole pandemic scare is a big HOAX to get people scared and stay in their homes and lose their livelyhood so the pharmasutical scammers can implement the "cure" by way of mandatory vaccine. You will only be allowed to work, shop and ravel with a COVID 19 pass (Certificate Of Vaccination ID).

When I was younger I certainly yearned to travel. Had no car and very little money. I thought to myself if I don't do this now I never will get out of here (my hometown) So a friend and I just decided to hitchhike (back in the 70's) I am so glad I did. We traveled around and camped and as you mentioned, met people that invited us to stay on their land. Only once in the many times I traveled like this I did meet one bad person but we got away from them by hiding out in a soybean field. Otherwise it was great and I would do it again because when that urge comes to go...you just have to go and experience life. I loved it🐱

i'd also add that traveling expands your horizons like nothing else in life, i guess. makes you compare places you've visited with one another. you start to look at things differently, feel things differently. it makes you a great storyteller, too. if there's anything close to books that enrich you in your experience, that would be traveling.
best of luck! and stay safe.

Now you are in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and spring is near you can maybe do one or two videos of you trekking through some nice landscapes. I liked the videos you did in Andorra and Nepal.

You're going to inspire the creation of 20 more travel youtube channels than you already have with this video, down the road, after travel restrictions are lifted. One thing I said to my wife is when countries do start to open back up, and maybe for a while afterwards, the possibility/probability that a foreigner will have to self-isolate for 2 weeks when they arrive in a country before they're allowed to then start moving about- like you did when you first arrived in Canada. How this can be monitored/regulated is another question. For most of us, travel this way is not an option as you can't self-isolate for the first 2 weeks of a 2-week vacation - as soon as u finished self-isolating it would be time to come home. And when you return to your home country, you might have to self-isolate for another 2 weeks. A 2-week vacation automatically turns into a 6-week one and most of us just don't have that kind of time. Having said this, I see Greece, whose economy is heavily summer tourist-dependent, is shooting for a delayed summer start in July that goes into October/November, that is for the travel-related businesses that haven't folded up before then. There's talk of the airlines/airports using a quick-response virus test that passengers must of course pass before they're allowed to fly .... but we'll see if that comes to pass .... We're more worried about picking up the virus in a close-packed plane than anywhere else .... will have to see how 2020 ... and 2021 ... unfolds .....

Yep, those are issues we're going to have to deal with, not looking forward to another two-week quarantine.

I've followed you for years, Gabriel, and appreciate your descriptive powers and the freeform nature of your videos. The big omission in this one, the other side of the coin, is the concept of raising a family. True, I've met couples travelling for years with school-age (or younger) children, but a stable home base surely serves a purpose? If your job lets you get away for a solid month every year, like mine did, you can accumulate a serious back-catalogue of traveller's tales! Good luck with everything, though, and let's hope the after-effects of the virus don't include TOO expensive air travel (although budget fares will surely be history - as they need to be anyway, for environmental reasons).

Gabe please make a video on what you think one should carry with them for full time travel. In One carry on bag one laptop bag and one check in bag. A check list that one can refer to.
