About myth 2: THANK YOU!!!! As a Chemist I can't stand people talking about "chemical free" and don't even start me with the whole "organic" stuff. Every compound with Carbon it's organic, that's the very definition of Organic Chemistry (which was my line of work).

I’m an animal lover also Callie! I hate animal testing. PETA always sending me horrible pictures of cats, dogs, rabbits etc. I got so sick and upset after opening one of their letters to me, I couldn’t go to work. I am a registered nurse not that this makes a difference. These tests are repetitive and inconclusive most of time. Also our tax dollars fund some of this testing. My house is loaded with rescue pets. I love every one of them! at 72 yrs old I can’t do much more!😊

Thank you for explaining the difference between fragrance free and unscented! I always wondered about this.
My philosophy on health is to reduce as many negatives as possible and include as many positives as possible, without stressing about it if it’s not perfect. Because I think there is a threshold of how many “toxins” or free radicals or stressors or whatever that’s bad for your body to handle before it starts to develop diseases. Of course sometimes you can’t prevent diseases, but a lot of times you can.
I still think it’s sketchy that parabens build up in tissue, there must be a threshold of how much parabens the body can take before it starts to cause a disfunction. So I try to stay away from parabens as much as possible, but if the best product for my skin has parabens in it, I’m not going to stress about it. Because in that situation the positives outweigh the negatives and stressing about it would only make my whole philosophy moot, because stress is the worst! lol.

      Agreed!!!!

    • @Spiritualsciencehealing
      @Spiritualsciencehealing 2 роки тому +1

Okay but the thing is, parabens are removed from the body in 36 hours after being broken down by certain enzymes in the skin, they are even produced in the body by breakdown of amino acids. They are even found in fruits and vegetables if a person wanted to avoid parabens, they'd have to stop eating those fruits and vegetables which contain them. So I feel like if you are trying to 100% avoid parabens, its stupid. If its gonna get removed from the body and its even found in what you eat, there's no reason to avoid it unless you actually have any other problems with it which is a rare occurrence. The amount its used in products is super low, its not enough to really cause an issue, so even if you have multiple products with parabens or sources of them, you'd have to have them in a humongous amount to actually show some sort of effect. They really are super effective as a preservative and one of the most researched one as well.

It’s from Dr. Bailey’s line and it is expensive but it’s the only one I can tolerate. It’s reduced the redness and melasma but then I also put a gram of sulfur crystals in my coffee and take it with grape seed extract, oral vitamin c capsule and 50mg of vitamin e too. In five months my bright red face is now a light pink. I tried the prescription stuff for rosacea for a year and it didn’t help.

Every single ingredient could be irritating to specific people, including fragrances. If you are not sensitive to it then enjoy it. The only way to know if it is for you or not is testing products.

I know this one! Synthetic fragrance (usually listed as just 'fragrance' I think) is usually less irritating than essential oils like citrus oil and ingredients like linalool and limonene.
It's interesting to hear her perspective on fragrance but every other derm I've listened to (including my own) says it should be avoided due to the possibility of long-term sensitizing... But if I were to use fragrance in skincare I'd definitely stick to synthetic, since it's usually formulated with skin in mind.

As a person with sensitive skin, I feel like a brand is saying "I'm not for you" or "I don't care about sensitive skin" if they don't offer any fragrance free options. Are there fragranced products that I have successfully used? Of course but in Australia not everything is a tester and not everything can be returned once opened so I don't really want to gamble with my money like that, especially now that I am using more actives in my routine. I don't want to feel like I'm playing with fire basically.

I'm with you, my skin developed perioral dermatitis and adult acne and fragrance was one of the culprits, as was heavy creams. I now trust fragrance free but its damn hard to find in Australia.... I have been buying from iHerb. Id only just discovered one Aussie product by Natio, gentle lotion.

    My beautiful Shereene,
please answer my questions either Here or in a dedicated video:
    1. Can we make hypochlorous acid ourselves? We don't have it here in Greece, but I was wondering if we can benefit from its properties.
    2. Can you do a video on how it is the proper way to layer our acids (ahas, bha, Azelaic etc) with vitamin c, retinol, and all the things we need to make right in order for our actives to be efficient and not deactivated?
    Thanks in advance,
Kisses to you and your beautiful family ♡

Loooved the take on non-chemical. Bravo!!! And I understand the dilema small brands face with parabens. Your take on it seems very reasonable to me. I do however have a slightly different take on the scent issue. Yes, of course, it's only harmful if your skin is sensitive to fragrance. But I think it can also make the experience less enjoyable. For one, you might just not like it. Fresh have a wonderful cleanser that is cucumber scented. It made me gag every time I used it. I loved the product but couldn't get over the scent and never repurchased it. Also, even if it's a scent you love... if you have a cucumber scented wash, a rose scented moisturiser, a strawberry scented lipoil, a coconut shampoo... and a vanilla perfume, it's pretty overkill. So my guess is, many of us buy some scented products we love to use among non-scented or very lightly scented ones to avoid the tropicana coctail :)

What I have against petroleum derivatives is because it makes you a part of the industry. We can’t avoid motor transportation and other areas that use petroleum, but we can avoid skin care products. That is my reason, anyway ☺️

great video, and thank you for recommending Matcha tea. My friend from Tokyo gave me matcha sachets as a present and they are a life saver anytime I feel down. The called it Match to Go, because you put the content of the sachet in your water bottle, pour hot water from the kettle and shake it, instead of using the traditional bamboo whisker. Matcha is the best present anyone can give you. Have a lovely day!

Thank you for making these videos, I am so thankful to have found your channel. I'm entering my 30s now and want to add things to my VERY sensitive/reactive skin (eczema/dry prone) to get an even tone and texture to my skin. One product/ingredient I keep seeing that I'd love to know more about from you is CERAMIDES.

Love this!!! I wish more people would finally understand these are only myth!
I avoid fragranced products on my face, because they make me sick when they stick around plus my skin may get red, but I love fragranced body care so that’s where I really live out my spa cravings. Also slugging with Vaseline is magic, I wake up with the bounciest skin in the morning.
