None of what you said is really game changing improvement. Another thing, you don't have to do the normal things. As this game is a sandbox game you can try to figure out how to accomplish your ridiculous ideas. It took me a number of tries before I figured out how to reliably get a rowboat into the tavern. I've also blown up islands, gotten ships stuck on purpose, jumped small islands with ships, and gotten to strange, wondrous heights. Some of the most fun, ridiculous things happen when you are just goofing around and something you weren't trying to do happens.

Heavy attack is replaced by the ability to pick up and throw enemies/players freely (excluding big enemies like Skellie lords and red ocean crawlers). Boarder climbs on and gets immediately yeeted back off.
So far, my only complaint is only having 3 non emporium skins each for the knife and pistol, but they will probably add more midseason. Otherwise I like everything this adds to the sandbox. To all the PS players, see you on the waves.
Grape shots are rather strong. Ambushed a brig today, hit her with 3 grapes and she sunk in like 20secs. Tbf the ship was most likely captained by just 1 dude, but still, amazing
I really think the scattershot (I prefer if its called grape shot) is going to be the go to for sloops against bigger ships. Its likely to be especially effective against Galleons
@@RockAndRowland the bigger crews will have access to them, but the sloop will be likely to make the most value out of them. There's a lot more to hit when you're aiming at a brig or galleon.

It would be cool if the skellies worked on your ship when you raise them for an emergency uses for a solo that would be a little bonus when going up against bigger targets
You should be able to slide loot down ziplines. I feel like that would make getting loot from those huge islands much better. Plus a convoy of loot sliding onto my ship seems so fun.
In a world where every company seems to be trying to nickel and dime you through season passes, we can sit back and appreciate how amazing No Man's Sky has been. Not only did the game do a complete 180 and end up keeping all of their promises, but they still have not monetized it beyond its original purchase. We're talking over 5 years of updates, seasonal stuff, just an incredible amount of content all included. It's a shame very few games show that kind of love and support for their community. SOT is definitely not among the best in this category.
How about DRG? Maybe not as many updates as other games, but free battle passes? Content updates, a new mission type coming, and BATTLE PASS SKINS GO INTO THE LOOT POOL. This is what companies should strive for
That stone curse being in the paid pass bugs me a lot, curses were supposed to be a cool unlockable thing for doing something significant in the game. Makes me super worried about the state of curses in the future, if the majority of players don't care and/or buy the plunder pass anyways.

The sunken curse, is sick and respected because you know how much shit they had to do to get it A paid one, will just get no reaction, or even better, as a buyer of cosmetic (mostly to support when a season is good) I get consistently targeted by “whale killers” when my ship’s sails glow from affar If they do sell one (not like they didn’t have 2 skeleton costume in there already) I think it’s fine, people that want it, can even grind in game for Ancient Skeletons to buy it free, I’m at 2 full ship bought from that mechanic itself
@@bradleyjenkins2271 It's not fine cause regardless of community opinion on certain cosmetics, all curses up until this point were free. From the beginner type curses like Ashen curse, to in between stuff like Sunken curse or gold curse, all the way to hourglass curses like ghost, gold ghost, and skelly curse, they all were some sort of achievement for playing the game. The only thing you achieve with this curse is less money in your wallet, that curse now not only means nothing, but also further enables Rare to continue to add more and more curses to the emporium. Before you know it, the curses that will be up for real dollars will outweigh the curses you can get for free, as the emporium tends to do. That is the problem with this curse, it sets up yet another avenue for Rare to generate more money at the cost of curses losing their prestige, and more resources and cosmetics being dumped behind real money instead of for playing the game. (Also skelly costumes are not the same as the skeleton curse, you have zero customization options with those, unlike the hourglass skeleton curse)

I really dont think you can hate on the cosmetic aspect of the game, as this is all purely optional ways to support the devs. As long as there are no pay to win aspects I am happy.
Haven’t played since the guilds update and seeing an update like this makes me very excited to play, especially now that I can play with my friends who have PlayStations
I think that most of the issues you mentioned about the downward traversal are true, but with the harpoon gun coming out in season 14, the traversal combinations will get a lot more dynamic with the ziplines on islands.
I've found the Double-Barrel Pistol to be a nice middle ground between the power of the Blunderbuss and the versatility of the Pistol. I can see myself using it a lot going forward. The ability to walk on Harpoon ropes is a great traversal tool, but it does require some significant effort to keep your character from falling off. I guess that's how they balance the ability to open up impromptu shortcuts basically anywhere. The Scattershots do have a somewhat limited range, but also feel like they could shake up sea battles nicely. As Ray points out, this should help the smaller and more agile Sloops to counter the firepower of Galleons. All in all, a pretty solid update!
Glad to know the double barrel flintlock does enough damage to combo with a sword swipe for a KO. I solo sloop and like using sword plus the flintlock more, but the blunderbuss is so good for ladder guarding I have to use it as my gun. But with the double barrel, I can go back to flintlock!
yeah creators can decide where to insert ads, thats why it happens just after jokes, or just before significant parts of the video, but won't happen randomly midway through a sentence
Scattershot is my favourite so far. Yesterday I took down a brigantine and galleon using scattershot. It didn't consume all of their planks but just seemed to overwhelm them.
ive got to agree this update was amazing man omg but i wish they could add an option to cock the other barrel in the pistol but not fire to have at the ready. (i am an owl enjoyer and already have him in my bird cage)
Yeah, unfortunately you have to wait for the entire animation of pulling back both hammers to even get a chance at firing. If you only wait for the animation to pull the hammer on one barrel, the entire animation resets and you have to reload all over again.
they're legit dogshit. both new weapons are insanely clunky and unsatisfying to use, as well as just straight up useless. i was exited for throwing knives at first but their insane clunkyness and delay before being able to throw them absolutely ruins them for high levels of pvp. even without old quickswitch pistol snipe and pistol blunder are just the cleanest, most satisfying and skill-rewarding weapon combinations.
I was really excited for the bone caller but then I found out it only lasted for a minute. I was kinda hoping it would be something like giving me a long lasting npc crew. Simply because I mostly play alone. I guess only my dog for company on the seas. This definitely makes pvp more interesting though. Which to be honest is what a lot of people want.

I like the new weapons conceptually, but the db pistol has one big issue that I think a lot of players are having trouble with: the lack of auto-charge It's a similar idea to how if you hold the aim button while reloading, youll automatically aim after the reload As of now, if you hold the fire button after reloading, nothing happens It messes with the flow of combat, and makes it feel really clunky if youre not used to it. I hope they implement it sooner rather than later
The downside of ziplines is that there are only 9 islands that have them and they don't seem to exist on some of the worst islands to travel around. Also, there's only 1 in the shores of plenty and it's on a fort.
I do wish they actually used the two new sword variations they seem to be making skins for, the rapier and the heavy sword. Like, giving them unique stats
i wish they would make flamehearts hat and sword optainable ingame somehow for 2 reasons reason 1 being the pirate lords hat is earnable too sword well he dont got one as far as i know and the second reason being i missed the passes they was in thanks to rare
I think you can but I believe you can use weapons while tightrope walking by jumping up and off and quickly firing a weapon and then interacting back onto the tightrope
The next best thing that Rare can expand on is loosening the restrictions on PvE servers, or even perhaps expanding on it to be closer the full reward scale on high seas servers since it seems like the ques for PvE servers, even now, on PS5 take longer to get in than high seas servers. Avoiding the griefers and try hards in high seas is a huge plus to just dork around with buddies.
I definitely get where you're coming from with the zip lines, but how would they explain going up a zip line like that? I know the games doesn't exactly follow the rules of physics, but that would be a little extreme
Everyone's gotta realize the rare devs are absoutely plugging at it to create the cosmetic skins for the double barrel pistol and knife cause it would be a waste not to, give it a few weeks or at least till the next mini updates through the season.
I'm wondering if they selected forgetable pirate legends rewards on purpose, thinking a lot of new players (PS5) wouldn't be able to become pirates legends in time.
Maybe they skipped emissaries this time to add throwing knives and double barrel pistol skins next season for the companies, also you’ll be waiting forever for your favourite skin, as long as it’s not the ashen dragon skins because they’re most likely going to be in the next drop of skins for the weapons
coming from a casual player here- i dont really care about the plunder pass or free version of it,i love to grind for the earnable cosmetics cus it shows my progress ya know? no hate just saying my thoughts on the pass. i love this update so far
I feel like we will get content more often now maybe as I think the ps5 version really made it difficult for them to do more with their limited team. I just think it explains it as they had to deal with a whole new version with its own bugs and also then the Xbox one and all I hope with the harpoon update we will eventually get customizable ones. I’d guess maybe when we get the grapple gun as the hook will be changed to fit the set. I think it would be cool and then the lanterns can be the normal lanterns. Also I hope we get the chest combined and presets as then the sloop can have more trinket space. Also I think each update we will get more and more of the new weapons. Also the scattershot is more so to balance out galleons and all as the wind horn takes away the sloops speed advantage against the wind and the scattershot is probably made to help make sloops have a fighting chance. Also a hook item for harpoon lines to put treasure on would be good as that lets you let items go down a zip line.
@@IdocarebutIdont Yeah that's the issue, since you have to be higher up than the rope to be able to stand on it. It'd be cool if you could walk below the harpoon-rope and zipline back to the ship, instead of having to find a way to get ontop of the rope.
I don’t mind about the music box, I just don’t like that the level 100 reward is a pair of broken boots, yes they’re graymarrows but when we have got some amazing items from level 100 they kinda just ruin it, I would much rather they put it the other way around since the music box at least looks good
@@XMoeiskingX "No block, no quick movement." You'd want a tiny knife to be able to block things. And have quick movement, thus rendering the sword useless as you'd want the knife to have quick movement, block, and throwable.
Absolutely amazing update the only thing i wish they did was add a third weapon slot, but i understand why they didnt. I think the knives should do 5 more damage on all attacks, I thinks low for the “jab” is fair becuase you can cancel the other players attack, also the pistol I think even though week is fine becuase if you double shot then reload and do a single, it’s pretty close to a normal pistole just looks way more pirate, lastly even though the zip lines goin up would be… wired I think it’s needed becuase they are pretty dumb

I know I am getting flak left and right for this comment but I stand by it. That horn is going to mess up the game. Give it a few days I can assure you it will be mandatory to have one at all times. You won't be able escape tryhards without one. Everything else is fine but that horn is going to cause issues because there is no defense against it. Cannon yourself over, harpoon down to the ship and then blow any players off of it. No more fighting, no more boarding. Just pure cheese. Its coming. Get ready for the salt. All the comments "it has charges", "its rare" blah blah blah, this is SoT players will find a way. Pretty much every session will be mandatory to start with a few shrines THEN I can go about my business. Its not fun being forced to do something just to enjoy the game. Everything else seems fine but I have been wary of that horn since it was announced.

I really like the famous pirate set but I’m sort of upset because the serpent/medusa ship set seems very similar or even identical to last seasons also snake themed sets. Some bias since I don’t really like the super fantasy sets of the game, don’t feel very pirate like

Honestly, with the changes with hourglass I cannot imagine going back to a 1v1v1v1 (ship not player) match to gather loot, hell no, never again A simple 1v1 is way better I feel, the whole getting loot to get coins, really doesn’t force pvp as much as it forces to be efficient with loot collection

Don't want to sound rude, but yeah multiple hits on a gal is very effective and is basically a direct buff to sloop players against bigger ships

Haven't played properly yet, but can't wait to test out the new items. The bone caller and throwing knives look the most exciting to me
7:15 they should do the helldivers type, where full emisarry, long voyages, rare loot, etc all give a small small amount of premium currency.

Exactly my thoughts, I plan to use the db a lot once I get the hang of it (and maybe implement auto charging on reload)
You can jump off the harpoons to get a quick shot in and you will get back on the harpoon. It is helpful for boarding

You can hold left click to do it and still move full speed without aiming, though you can't sprint

We just got sunk to it, decided the game since they block you and your buckets. It's pretty powerful

I like the new weapons conceptually, but the db pistol has one big issue that I think a lot of players are having trouble with: the lack of auto-charge
It's a similar idea to how if you hold the aim button while reloading, youll automatically aim after the reload
As of now, if you hold the fire button after reloading, nothing happens
It messes with the flow of combat, and makes it feel really clunky if youre not used to it. I hope they implement it sooner rather than later
The downside of ziplines is that there are only 9 islands that have them and they don't seem to exist on some of the worst islands to travel around. Also, there's only 1 in the shores of plenty and it's on a fort.
I've never seen the horn at all in 3 days. Not even on other crews. Any idea where/how to acquire it?

I do wish they actually used the two new sword variations they seem to be making skins for, the rapier and the heavy sword. Like, giving them unique stats
i wish they would make flamehearts hat and sword optainable ingame somehow for 2 reasons reason 1 being the pirate lords hat is earnable too sword well he dont got one as far as i know and the second reason being i missed the passes they was in thanks to rare

I think you can but I believe you can use weapons while tightrope walking by jumping up and off and quickly firing a weapon and then interacting back onto the tightrope
The next best thing that Rare can expand on is loosening the restrictions on PvE servers, or even perhaps expanding on it to be closer the full reward scale on high seas servers since it seems like the ques for PvE servers, even now, on PS5 take longer to get in than high seas servers. Avoiding the griefers and try hards in high seas is a huge plus to just dork around with buddies.
I definitely get where you're coming from with the zip lines, but how would they explain going up a zip line like that? I know the games doesn't exactly follow the rules of physics, but that would be a little extreme
It would be cool if u could attach loot to ziplines, allowing you to easily move large amount of loot down from heights
At first I didn’t like the double flintlock pistol, but after a few hours getting used to it I can say it’s a pretty good weapon. Haha
I dont think i will ever change back to the flintlock when we have throwing knives!
theres a bug on ps5 with the loading in so i have to relogin every time i go in the game

Everyone's gotta realize the rare devs are absoutely plugging at it to create the cosmetic skins for the double barrel pistol and knife cause it would be a waste not to, give it a few weeks or at least till the next mini updates through the season.

I'm wondering if they selected forgetable pirate legends rewards on purpose, thinking a lot of new players (PS5) wouldn't be able to become pirates legends in time.
I've only played for an hour last night but man am I hooked.
Maybe they skipped emissaries this time to add throwing knives and double barrel pistol skins next season for the companies, also you’ll be waiting forever for your favourite skin, as long as it’s not the ashen dragon skins because they’re most likely going to be in the next drop of skins for the weapons
Now that harpoons are so good now, they should add cosmetics to em.

They should add a bounty system and the ability to make your own treasure maps and bury your own loot
coming from a casual player here- i dont really care about the plunder pass or free version of it,i love to grind for the earnable cosmetics cus it shows my progress ya know? no hate just saying my thoughts on the pass. i love this update so far
I used the harpoon to sell at reaper today it made it much better
I feel like we will get content more often now maybe as I think the ps5 version really made it difficult for them to do more with their limited team. I just think it explains it as they had to deal with a whole new version with its own bugs and also then the Xbox one and all I hope with the harpoon update we will eventually get customizable ones. I’d guess maybe when we get the grapple gun as the hook will be changed to fit the set. I think it would be cool and then the lanterns can be the normal lanterns. Also I hope we get the chest combined and presets as then the sloop can have more trinket space. Also I think each update we will get more and more of the new weapons. Also the scattershot is more so to balance out galleons and all as the wind horn takes away the sloops speed advantage against the wind and the scattershot is probably made to help make sloops have a fighting chance. Also a hook item for harpoon lines to put treasure on would be good as that lets you let items go down a zip line.

Curses should always be earned through grinding or skill only as putting them in the emporium just devalues the idea of a curse.
Since I originally saw the gold collector birds I always wanted a gold owl, now still having to wait grrr.
I wish we could've used our own harpoon-rope as ziplines too, and just be forced to let go near the ship.
That's what the harpune does.. Just that you are standing instead of hanging on it.
@@IdocarebutIdont Yeah that's the issue, since you have to be higher up than the rope to be able to stand on it. It'd be cool if you could walk below the harpoon-rope and zipline back to the ship, instead of having to find a way to get ontop of the rope.
Still waiting for Rare to add a rope that you can swing on in to other boat

I don’t mind about the music box, I just don’t like that the level 100 reward is a pair of broken boots, yes they’re graymarrows but when we have got some amazing items from level 100 they kinda just ruin it, I would much rather they put it the other way around since the music box at least looks good

If it has the lunge the sword wouldn't have any unique feature going for it other than blocking

You'd want a tiny knife to be able to block things. And have quick movement, thus rendering the sword useless as you'd want the knife to have quick movement, block, and throwable.
I mostly solo sloop/pve, but I was wondering how much damage the overhand stab does on skeley’s and other pve enemies?
That’s also my question, as I feel they are more suited for PvE than PvP

Absolutely amazing update the only thing i wish they did was add a third weapon slot, but i understand why they didnt. Or at least if not a third weapon slot just make the throwing knives permanent to your belt. Idk lol just throwing ideas out there. Other then that the update was absolutely amszing and me and my crew are having an absolute blast also WELCOME PS5 PLAYERS!

Rare is great but they need manpower to further strengthen their game. We need more cosmetics and stuff (and maybe a couple more gameplay updates).

I think the knives should do 5 more damage on all attacks, I thinks low for the “jab” is fair becuase you can cancel the other players attack, also the pistol I think even though week is fine becuase if you double shot then reload and do a single, it’s pretty close to a normal pistole just looks way more pirate, lastly even though the zip lines goin up would be… wired I think it’s needed becuase they are pretty dumb

Also there are veterans who doesnt double gun and are on the same page as the doublegunners, the game already provides a lot of content and advantages to new players, so much so that they can become pirate legend without having to learn how to play.
and veterans dont have anything to do that is not pvp, we have done everything, new things are just a reeskin of old stuff, no new mecanics to learn because "it would be too hard for the new players" and hard equals bad to this people for some reason
but this update gave us a little something, something actually new, something that we asked for a long long time ago and they need to keep it up like that

I know I am getting flak left and right for this comment but I stand by it. That horn is going to mess up the game. Give it a few days I can assure you it will be mandatory to have one at all times. You won't be able escape tryhards without one. Everything else is fine but that horn is going to cause issues because there is no defense against it. Cannon yourself over, harpoon down to the ship and then blow any players off of it. No more fighting, no more boarding. Just pure cheese. Its coming. Get ready for the salt. All the comments "it has charges", "its rare" blah blah blah, this is SoT players will find a way. Pretty much every session will be mandatory to start with a few shrines THEN I can go about my business. Its not fun being forced to do something just to enjoy the game. Everything else seems fine but I have been wary of that horn since it was announced.
From what I understand, it just maxes your sail speed. If you're already going downwind, then it does nothing.

I really like the famous pirate set but I’m sort of upset because the serpent/medusa ship set seems very similar or even identical to last seasons also snake themed sets. Some bias since I don’t really like the super fantasy sets of the game, don’t feel very pirate like

tbf by season 13 or 14 a lot of ps5 players will be pl so there would be more incentive to add good stuff for them

Ngl, this update is great. BUT, (of course there's a but), the new weapons do not have a chance against literally any other weapon that's been in the game before. My guess is that these new weapons won't be used in about a month.
Now we just need the Arena back and we are absolutely golden (or silver)

A simple 1v1 is way better I feel, the whole getting loot to get coins, really doesn’t force pvp as much as it forces to be efficient with loot collection
