a Padawan and a Padawan learner are just two names for the same thing. "Padawan Leaner" is more formal, i believe, hence why she used it during her formal introduction. They become a Padawan when a Jedi Master or Jedi Knight takes them as a pupil. As for extendable sabers: I'm not sure about Disney canon, but in legends this was a thing. It wasn't a standard feature, but quite a few Jedi included a dial on their sabers that allowed them to adjust the length of the blade. Some notable Jedi even used this mid combat to throw off their opponent.
Good thing you guys watched this before the series since this was the actual start of the Clone Wars, It has a massive character routes with every Jedis and also mostly the Clones! As soon as you guys reach Season 3, Things are gonna get darker!
The B1's were made particularly silly for Clone Wars, with the background explanation being that the Trade Federation cheaped out on their processesers (droid brains) when they switched from centralized command to individual thinking droids.
I love that the first guy says "roxas, you guys don't even know what that is!" I do he's a character from Kingdom hearts one of my favorite video games series of all time!
Part of the TOR games actually explain that most Hutts can speak basic(translated language) but they mostly speak Huttese either as a pride thing or just to troll other species
19:01 For 1, they never translate Huttese. You either get the idea or a droid translates. 2, there are more Hutts than just Jaba. And they’re all the weird slug guys. They’re basically the space mafia. Like The Godfather, with slime.
Its fun watching people still fresh to the Star Wars lore trying to figure out things. I have extensive knowledge of the Star Wars universe so I giggle every time they stumble with stuff like "what a padawan learner is?" and "Thinking Jabba invented his own language.". There isn't a single thing wrong with this because we all start somewhere but its truly entertaining. Although, you also find yourself wanting to crawl through the screen to answer their questions. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Anakin's outright racism towards Hutts may be surprising at first, especially for a Jedi... until you remember that him and his mom used to be slaves owned by another Hutt (Gardulla) before Watto won them in a bet. Jabba is the boss of all the Hutts, directly in charge of their slave trade and other criminal dealings. Anakin's literally tasked to save the son of someone responsible for his family's suffering, who also more likely than not will grow up to become another slaver criminal lord. Imagine being told to help your former oppressor or the boss of your former oppressor. I don't think any of us would be happy with such an assignment.
Going though my darkest time both physically and mentally and this channel just helps me not to loose it. When I watch you guys I laugh and I get distracted and I feel less alone. Thank you sorta stupid crew. ❤
I remember I saw this in theatres when I was like 7-8. I begged my mom to let me go, and by the time I left the theatre, my little 8 year old self was so giddy with excitement, I NEVER expected the clone wars to get as big, have as much lore as it has, and probably be one of, if not the best, animated cartoon stories of all time (debatably, trying not to be biased) This show will make you feel every emotion, whilst growing each character, mission, and the lore. The clone wars started with this, and by the time the final season comes around, you’ll see the difference, the emotion, the dark themes. They say this is a kids show, but it’s not. Also, this show TEACHES. It’s hard to explain, but rewatching the clone wars recently, I just realized how much the opening quote means to the story. That quote goes with the theme of the story, and, as weird as it may sound, you can incorporate MOST of those quotes into your own life. The clone wars will always be special. It will always hold a huge part in my heart - I hope y’all feel the same way after you finish this series. Good luck, and may the force be with you throughout this endeavor!😊
I was I believe 11 when this movie came out and remember seeing it in the movies. My generation was the target audience for the prequal movies and the CW show and I can confirm the TV series is infact PEAK star wars.
Padawan Learners (the kids training at the temple in full classes) are Padawans who have not been assigned to a Master. Once assigned, the full rank of Padawan is granted. Also, Ahsoka did come off annoying when this first released until the fanbased realized that was intentional because most young Padawans are annoying, especially if they are like Anakin.
Padawan and Padawan learners are synonymous terms. Students who are waiting for a master are still Initiates. They are technically still initiates, even after completing the initiate trials which puts them up for apprenticeship.

Fun fact: while there was a legends (non canon) comic about Anakin getting his scar in a fight with ventress, George Lucas himself said in an interview that Anakin got it from falling in the bathtub.
6:28 Padawan and Padawan learner are essentially the same thing. Padawans are _learners_ so it’s the same thing. The ranking of Jedi goes like this: Initiate/Youngling Padawan Knight Master Master of the Order (Only one can hold the rank- Mace Windu) Grandmaster (also only one- Yoda)
I remember my dad getting a ‘preview DVD’ from his work (Walmart higher up) and it had one of the fights in this. That hyped my ass up and made me watch the prequels in anticipation. I’d only seen the originals at that point because my parents assumed the prequels were bad.
Here's more or less how the ranking goes for the Jedi Order. (Please feel free to correct or clarify anything I get wrong or leave out) Youngling: A force sensitive child. Usually taken at a young age to be trained. Service Corp: Padawan who did not achieve the rank of knight or did not find a master to train under but can still be useful to the Order. (Medics, explorers, librarians, etc.) Padawan: A Jedi in training. Trained under a knight or master. Not yet a full member of the Order. They must pass trials to achieve Knighthood. Knight: A full member of the Jedi Order. There are classes within the rank, Guardian, consular, and Sentinel, who specialize in different things. Knights can take on a Padawan as an apprentice. Master: A Jedi who has shown a high level of skill, knowledge, and wisdom and has trained a Padawan to Knighthood. Council Member: A master sitting on one of the Councils, Council of First Knowledge, Council of Reconciliation, Council of Reassignment, and the High Council. You must have the rank of master to sit on the councils. A notable exception is Anakin Skywalker, who was a High Council member as a Knight. Master of the Order: The highest ranking member of the High Council who acts as the Leader of the Council. The master of the order, alongside the High Council and the Grand Master, Oversees the rest of the Councils and the Jedi Order as a whole. Can only be obtained by those who are incredibly knowledgeable in the ways of the Jedi. Grand Master: The highest and most prestigious rank in the Jedi Order. Can only be obtained by a unanimous vote by the High Council. The Grandmaster works alongside the Master of the Order. They also oversee the training of younglings, passing on their wisdom and knowledge to the next generation of Jedi. Types/Classes. There are multiple types/classes of Jedi Knights. Each one specializes in a different skill set. Guardians. The Jedi focus on lightsaber combat. They dedicate themselves to learning lightsaber combat and honing their skills. Notable examples are Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. Consulars. Jedi focus on the use of the force. They prefer the use of force, both in and out of combat. They often act as diplomats on behalf of the Order. Notable examples are Yoda and Luke Skywalker. Sentinels. The jack of all trades Jedi. They have a balance of force and lightsaber knowledge and often learn skills outside of the Jedi teachings. Skills include the use of weapons such as blasters, demolitions, hacking, espionage, and assassinations. Notable examples are Bastila Shan(KOTOR) and Klye Katarn(legends/old EU. He might not be a sentinel but I don't know for sure.). Fun Facts! A padawan can obtain the rank of a knight without going through the Knight trials if they perform a great deed. An example is Obi-Wan defeating Darth Maul. Mace Windu was the Master of the Order before the Clone Wars but stepped down to play a more active role on the battlefield, giving the title to Yoda. Satele Shan, the Jedi woman from the Old Republic trailers, is the descendant of Bastila Shan from KOTOR, and later became the Grand Master. Those who failed to achive Knighthood either joined the service corp or were allowed to leave. Those who left often want back to their homeworlds. Some used their limited knowledge of the force for their own benefit, spies, hustlers, athletes, etc.
My dad took me to see this in theater. Afterwards, we went to our local airport and saw a traveling exhibit for a B-17 Fighting Fortress and (if I’m remembering the helicopter correctly) a Huey. It was an wonderful day.
I know that a lot of people took time to like Ahsoka as they watched her character grow but I have ALWAYS loved her. I’m so hyped you guys have done so much Star Wars content and can’t wait for you to continue the series!
Ahsoka means so much to me. When this came out i was the same age as she was and i could just see myself in Star Wars, something i had loved for as long as i could remember. I just got to meet Ashley Eckstein, the voice of Ahsoka, recently and i'm planning an Ahsoka tattoo, one of my own design, to grt within the next year. I even painted her lightabers (older Ahsoka's lightsabers, Rebels fans will know) on my graduation cap for college. And her sabers will be the first lightsabers i buy, as i have no replicas just yet.
33:00 They can infact control the length of their sabers, not through the force, but with settings on their lightsaber. I'm pretty sure they can also set them to training mode if I'm not mistaken.
lightsabers are sometimes built to different sized blades and handles depending on the fighting style/wielder, but there are also a few duelists who’s lightsabers also have a mechanism to manually extend/retract the blade to change its size
I cannot wait for you guys yo watch Ahsoka grow throughout this show. She is my favorite Star Wars character. Oh also don't forget Star Wars Rebels after this.

If you guys want a Star Wars the Clone Wars game if I recall there is a Wii/Xbox connect game, thought I cannot promise a quality experience from it all I remember is enjoying it growing up alongside watching the show
I've always liked how Ahsoka and Skywalker troll each other by accusing one another of being exactly like themselves without realizing it. Even when they realize it, they don't realize it.
With Jedi ranks, they start as Initiates when they're still toddlers because they're yet to form attachments to their families, which is partly the reason why Anakin was initially denied. As they get older, they're separted into groups called Clans and become Younglings; they're trained at the Jedi Temple and learn the basics of the Force and lightsabers and have to complete a series of trials to progress further, such as gathering the kyber crystals to build their own lightsabers. Once they've passed that, they become Padawans. Padawans were usually selected by Masters for training before the Clone Wars, but the Jedi Council was forced to assign them to Jedi during the Clone Wars by military necessity. The purpose of being a Padawan was the one-to-one training with a Jedi Knight or Master, and the real-world experience they would get from such a role. To graduate to Jedi Knight, you would have to pass another series of trials, though these were a bit more nebulous and could either be structured or in the field. To become a Jedi Master, you must have successfully trained at least one Padawan to knighthood. The reasoning for this is that Jedi must be able to prove they can teach what they have learned as well as being able to let go of their Padawans.
So there is actually a way for the Jedi to control the length of their lightsaber but it’s not through the force the lightsaber itself has a dial on it which can be tuned to control the width and length of the blade to suit the individuals height and preference.
19:02 Huttese is a legitimate language from the Hutt Civilization. They are a narcissist species, and often have titles to their names. There were many “[insert name] the Hutt” throughout history.
This is very interesting seeing this Dynamic of people watching Star Wars the Clone Wars for the first time and seeing how they actively interact with the show and all the characters who they consider to be new characters that most of us have already known about for well over a decade and a half
dude, i am SO stoked that you guys are watching this series, personally i find it to be the best show star wars has to offer and im really hoping you guys watch the entire series, it's SO good, this is seriously peak star wars content :)
What made this movie particularly special was that they brought back Samuel L Jackson and Christopher Lee to reprise their roles for this film to be apart of this new cast that takes over the show and since the voice actor who played Ziro the Hutt ends up playing Dooku for the rest of this series. This movie became so damn great that back when this first came out in theaters I myself was feeling large amounts of nostalgia in waiting for this to become a show that I knew this was going to be one of the greatest shows to watch. I think we can all agree that the actor who voiced Dooku was the best and no one can out best the original cause his laugh from this film made it iconic that he was him with that voice. Side note: Mace Windu voice actor ends up being Terrance C Carson for the rest of the series instead of Jackson so this is for these guys to know.
The knob on anakins saber is listed as controlling length in several books and guides but it wasn’t a common feature for the Jedi. I wish they would have used it at least once.
33:00, most Lightsabers have a way to adjust the length of the "blade". Usually a dial, but SOME have dexterity enough that they adjust it mid fight; going back and forth between knife, sword and spear length.
Ahsoka: So I’m to be assigned to Master Kenobi?

Ahsoka is my favorite Star Wars character. The character growth is incredible
@@JCrushFitness What growth?
Ahsoka went from one of the most hated to one of one of the most loved starwars characters.
@@connorredshaw5650 For some reason
a Padawan and a Padawan learner are just two names for the same thing.
Some notable Jedi even used this mid combat to throw off their opponent.
it’s still canon i believe bc kanan talks ezra through this when introducing him to sabers
Seeing young Ahsoka is so nostalgic.
Can't wait to relive her journey growing up.
She'll forever be my fave.
Y'know, Anakin did well holding his own against Duku considering he was surrounded by his weakness

He also likely meant Ventus since Ventus holds his keyblade in a reverse grip
@@roxan_1314 right!
Part of the TOR games actually explain that most Hutts can speak basic(translated language) but they mostly speak Huttese either as a pride thing or just to troll other species
Knowing Hutts I can see it go either way. Or both. Both is good.
19:01 For 1, they never translate Huttese. You either get the idea or a droid translates. 2, there are more Hutts than just Jaba. And they’re all the weird slug guys. They’re basically the space mafia. Like The Godfather, with slime.
Guys. Come now. Hutts are a species.
❤️
I remember I saw this in theatres when I was like 7-8. I begged my mom to let me go, and by the time I left the theatre, my little 8 year old self was so giddy with excitement, I NEVER expected the clone wars to get as big, have as much lore as it has, and probably be one of, if not the best, animated cartoon stories of all time (debatably, trying not to be biased)
This show will make you feel every emotion, whilst growing each character, mission, and the lore.
They are technically still initiates, even after completing the initiate trials which puts them up for apprenticeship.
dave felonis magic system make people hate a female character when you bring them in, then for some reason they are worshipped as one of the best characters in the franchise.
The kids in the temples are Younglings a Padawan is what you are once you are assigned a master Padawan learner is just a full title
@@chriskeim5699yes, people always forget the younglings. Well, not Anakin, of course.
@@ExMalakite It was never intentional
The fact that the boys are so locked in this early has me really excited for when the show actually takes off.
Lightsabers do actually have a switch that changes their length.
I think it's a special type of shield that fully blocks organics/organic based life, and only metallic things can pass. That explains how hiding under the box worked
The way Anakin reacts to Ahsoka looks like a chronically single guy suddenly having to be a parent
Man, this is the 3rd time I've watched a group of reactors go through Clone Wars, and I am all for it.

So..just to give you guys the chronological. The movie takes place a few months into the war between episode 2 and three. Then the show cline wars takes place, then episode 3. Then rebels (which I'd suggest you guys watch, if you like the style) kenobi takes place during that too. Then it's ashoka after like episode 4, 5...I think.

Also love this series because Kenobi has so much rizz it’s awesome. And yeah Yoda is amazing
The ranking of Jedi goes like this:
Initiate/Youngling
Padawan
Knight
Master
Master of the Order (Only one can hold the rank- Mace Windu)
Grandmaster (also only one- Yoda)
Ashley Eckstein was so great as Ahsoka's VA.
I remember my dad getting a ‘preview DVD’ from his work (Walmart higher up) and it had one of the fights in this. That hyped my ass up and made me watch the prequels in anticipation. I’d only seen the originals at that point because my parents assumed the prequels were bad.
11:55 When he said "Roxas" when he clearly meant "Ventus" a little part of my heart died.
Here's more or less how the ranking goes for the Jedi Order.
(Please feel free to correct or clarify anything I get wrong or leave out)
Youngling: A force sensitive child. Usually taken at a young age to be trained.
Service Corp: Padawan who did not achieve the rank of knight or did not find a master to train under but can still be useful to the Order. (Medics, explorers, librarians, etc.)
Padawan: A Jedi in training.
Some used their limited knowledge of the force for their own benefit, spies, hustlers, athletes, etc.
lightsaber length is set, so its as long as the owner can properly use it, hence why joda has a smaller one
Heh. Always love the hilarity that are the droids.
My dad took me to see this in theater. Afterwards, we went to our local airport and saw a traveling exhibit for a B-17 Fighting Fortress and (if I’m remembering the helicopter correctly) a Huey. It was an wonderful day.
It's funny to think about you not knowing that Ashoka is Anakin's padawan and just thinking she's a random Jedi lol
I’m pretty sure Obi-Wan committed a war crime by faking his surrender lmao
I love the war of the world’s tri droids they sound soo cool I love the sounds they make.
Sooo... remember that little scene where Luke SKYWALKER confronts Jabba to get Han? Now you see why Jabba doesn't like that SKYWALKER name...
There’s not many reactors I’d actually watch react to early Clone Wars but y’all are the exception. Peak Clone Wars is gonna be amazing for y’all
I know that a lot of people took time to like Ahsoka as they watched her character grow but I have ALWAYS loved her. I was five when this movie came out and only watched it cuz there was a “girl Jedi” 😂. I’m 21 now and my dad, brother and I have really bonded over our love for these movies, series, and characters. I’m so hyped you guys have done so much Star Wars content and can’t wait for you to continue the series!
Oh! I thought we'd be getting this Sunday! Awesome! 💜
@@emilybartera7538 I feel sorry for you
So for lightsaber length I believe there is a dial to focus the length of the blade for the wielder but there should be a maximum limit for it.
This was the first Star Wars movie I ever saw in theaters

This is an underrated gem. Particularly the dynamic between Anakin and Obi-Wan
That was fast, I was about to go to sleep then saw this pop up.
I remember going to see this theatres and the reaction being so mixed. And yet here we are over a decade later and it’s one of the best aspects of Star Wars
Dude I was introduced to star wars with this movie, that opening battle of christophsis gives me chills every time I see it, from the music to just how brutal it is. DISNEY BRING THIS BACK, COWARDS
They can change the length of the lightsaber with a switch on the handle. It can grow or shrink w. A touch of a button or a flip of a lever.
Put respect on my boy Rex’s name. He is my all time favorite Star Wars character
I will always love Palpatine's Clone Wars outfit making it look like he has Anchor Arms 😂
33:00 technically yes, its been mentioned in reference books and older stories, but its never been seen on screen.
Hutt is a race. Jabba is called The Hutt like you would call Worf "The Klingon". It's weird but maybe it has to do with his mafia culture
If they think there's tension between Kenobi and Ventress, I cannot wait to see their reaction to Kenobi's interactions with a certain dutchess.
Ahsoka is arguably the main character of this series, so you’re gonna be happy
7:25 Just the LOOK Rex gives to Anakin, like "Anakin, I said you should teach a new Jedi for MONTHS, now you have one without telling me?"
I remember seeing this with my dad in theaters! I miss those days
33:00, most Lightsabers have a way to adjust the length of the "blade".
Usually a dial, but SOME have dexterity enough that they adjust it mid fight;
going back and forth between knife, sword and spear length.
