    Lyrics:
    Night... falls and I'm alone
Skin... yeah, chilled me to the bone
You... turned and you ran, oh yeah
Oh, slipped... right from my hand
Hey, blue on black, tears on a river
Push on a shove, it don't mean much
Joker on jack, match on a fire
Cold on ice, it's a dead man's touch
    Whisper on a scream
    Doesn't change a thing
    Don't bring you back
Blue on black, oh yeah, blue on black
    Blind... oh, now I see
    Truth... lies, and in between
    Wrong... can't be undone
Oh, slipped... from the tip of your tongue
Hey, blue on black, tears on a river
Push on a shove, it don't mean much
Joker on jack, match on a fire
Cold on ice, it's a dead man's touch
    Whisper on a scream
    Doesn't change a thing
    Doesn't bring you back, yeah
Blue on black, oh blue on black, oh yeah
Blue on black, tears on a river
Push on a shove, it don't mean much
Joker on jack, match on a fire
Cold on ice, it's a dead man's touch
    Whisper on a scream
    Doesn't change a thing
    Don't bring you back
Blue on black, oh yeah, blue on black
Hey, blue on black, tears on a river
Push on a shove, it don't mean much
Joker on jack, match on a fire
And cold on ice, it's a dead man's touch
    Whisper on a scream
    Doesn't change a thing
    Doesn't bring you back
Blue on black, oh, blue on black
Oh blue on black, oh blue on black

Agreed. I first heard this song in 1996 at about 2am on a Saturday night at mum & dad’s place. We were having a few night caps after my cousin’s wedding. It was just before I told them they were going to become grandparents. One of the happiest memories of my life, punctuated by a beautiful song with one of the sweetest, most melodic examples of why Strats rule the world.

I'd say KWS is rated fairly with just the single sentence "Holds the Billboard all time record for longest running blues album on the charts"
Of coarse Billboards "ratings" are based solely on record sales in each category.
      Read his wiki. ✌️

If you have the time, teach the young the truth, the blues is the root of almost everything we hear today, unbeknownst to most new creators. I was not trying to be whatever you were thinking- some type of *head. No. Just the opposite. I LOVE music and playing guitar and I want everyone, even you to experience that joy. I am also a skier and got last tracks down the mountain at Vail on a powder day. It was all light snow, sun was setting and I had the place to myself and I felt...sad. Why? Because I know that many others will never get to experience that feeling. Life is too short to keep things all to yourself. I also volunteer, rescue animals, donate money and do pro-bono work so no, I was not trying to be a jerk- just want to encourage others to try new things. Given the way this crazy world is going these days, I don't think that is too bad. There are worse things.
Cheers! Now go buy a guitar and take some lessons. If you want, I will even help you get started for free...we can start with this easy song! I promise I can teach you. There is more to life than video games.

      Andy , and all others--
I know the feeling. Back when I was a kid (70s and 80s) , I would try to write down some of the lyrics to a song I liked. And try to guess who did it. Usually the FM radio stations here in Chicago wouldn’t answer or they had their phone off the hook.
It wasn’t like now kiddies, where you could just type in a portion of the lyrics and PROBABLY get the artist/ original recording. Or sample the song, and SIRI would find it. Ha !!!!!
If I had UA-cam when I was a kid, I KNOW, I would have never left the house. ( Actually I have a hard time leaving the house NOW, because of UA-cam). 😄 !!!!!!!!
The VERY FIRST DAY I had UA-cam, I was on it for 18 hours straight. !

I was very fortunate to grow up with an older brother who discovered Kenny Wayne in the late 90's. My brother and I were huge fans, all the way from Brazil. We managed to buy the imported version of Ledbetter Heights and Trouble Is... those albums were soundtrack to a good portion of our childhood/teenage years. So amazing revisiting these albuns and watchin thee "Trouble is... 25" documentary on Prime Video. Dope to still sing these tunes so many years later

Also saw him perform at an Austin City Limits tribute to a well-known musician and he stood out musically as he stayed in the background. Humble, good man. Great musician.

Back in August 1997 they presented in one of my favorite radio programs called "CD Vanguard" that was on the air during the second half of that year and was broadcast on FM Del Sol 99.5 from Montevideo, Uruguay on Saturdays from 20 to 22 hs. A space where you could meet the most alternative pop-rock music of the moment. At that time the conductor named Ramiro Pèrez announces the song of Kenny Wayne Shepherd; Blue on Black. I remember playing it at full volume and my head exploded when I heard the first chords, I wondered what that was, that new blues rock with a post-grunge air. I immediately pictured a black singer in his early 30s. Many years later I was surprised when I saw the video and saw that they were very young and white boys similar to the Hanson in their look, endowed with an incomparable virtuosity. I did not know more about them, I only knew this topic that was only promoted there in that program. Of those pleasant surprises that usually happen from time to time.
